Luciano
Her father called me late last night, telling me he had spoken with Her. I immediately dropped my glass of scotch and ran to get my car keys. I was nervous to see the state she was in. Camila was stronger than she knew but this, this was something no one could come back strong from. We got to the motel and the front desk lady said she let her go to a room and sleep. She said she looked exhausted and knew she had been through so much. She had no shoes and was in her pajamas. I gulped and walked with her father to her room. Catalina rushed to her side pushing past everyone in front of her. Adriano soothed her back and then called out her name. Camila didn't wake up. I tried but she only moved an inch. I picked her up and took her to the car. I didn't put her down until we took her to her room. I stayed by her side all night but her father wanted to talk to me early in the morning.
"We have to find him," Adriano said.
"I know, we are circling the area and haven't found anywhere she could have been kept," I told him.
"Look harder," Adriano hissed. "Use every resource we have."
"I will," I said softly.
"We have to ask her what happened," Adriano told me. I knew he was right but I was scared. I didn't want to have to hear that.
"Okay," I agreed.
"I want to thank you properly for helping me find her," Adriano said. "But for now, let's finish this."
Camila came down a few minutes later. She still looked tired but she did say she rested well. She didn't have any nightmares or wake up once in the middle of the night so I knew she wasn't lying. She began to speak and I felt my blood boil. I wanted to hit something. I wanted to throw everything in this room. I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs. Why did this have to happen to her? Was it my fault? She looked like she wanted to cry but she didn't until the end. Her mother cried. Her father threw things and hit his fist on his desk. He was just as angry as I was. Camila finished telling us everything and then went up to her room. I wanted to see her, speak to her but I didn't know what to say. An hour later, I was brave enough to face her.
"Camila," I said softly.
"Are you okay?" I asked. She slowly looked up at me. "I mean that's a stupid question but I truly want to know. Are you okay? Will you ever be okay?"
"I don't know," she said in a hushed whisper. She cleared her throat and spoke again. "I don't ever want to think about those days again but I don't think I will ever forget them." I walked closer to her and placed my hand behind her head and made her look directly at me.
"I will do whatever it takes to erase every single one of those memories. I will make sure they all pay," I said firmly.
"I have to tell you something," she said softly.
"Can it wait?" I asked. "I want to," I didn't want to rush her but I needed to feel her closer to me. I brushed my thumb on her bottom lip. I gave her a small peck. "Can I kiss you?"
"Weren't you already?"
"Yeah," I cupped her face and kissed her harder. "I am so sorry."
"Luciano," she whimpered.
"This is all my fault," I said in between the kiss I was giving her.
"It's not," she said. Suddenly, my phone rang.
"Sorry, it's Demetri. He might have new information," I told Camila. I answered the phone.
"Luciano, Dario has put a bounty on her head. He wants her alive but a lot of people are looking for her," Demetri said.
"Why?" I asked. "This has gone too far. Why is she so important all of a sudden?"
"I don't know," Demetri answered.
"I'll talk to you later, call me if you get anything else," I said before I hung up. I told Camila to stay in her room while I went to go talk to her dad.
I went to her father's office and told him what Demetri said.
"What in the hell?" Adriano hissed. "What the f**k is wrong with this motherfucker?"
"I don't know but he seems to think she would be good leverage to have," I told Luciano.
"But why?" Adriano asked again. "All of our enemies might be interested in a chance to take me down but there is a reason no one has tried so far."
"Well, he must know something we don't," suddenly the office door swung open. "Camila."
"I'm pregnant," she blurted out. Her eyes quickly went to the floor.
"Repeat that," Adriano said.
"Dad, please,"
"f**k!" I cursed.
"You son of a bit-,"
"Dad!"
"So this is why you are so important now," Adriano said. "You are carrying this family's heir and his."
"Son of a bit-,"
"Luciano," Camila said now stopping me from cursing.
"I need to call my grandfather and great grandfather, they are going to do something stupid I just know it," Luciano said.
"If they haven't already," Adriano said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Dario is a powerful man but he doesn't have the money to put out a hit of this magnitude. Everyone knows we are in good standing and now he double-crosses me. It doesn't look good on his part," Adriano explained.
"You think Daniel and my grandfather have something to do with this?"
"I wouldn't put it past them. If they heard the news already, they would want to take the heir for themselves as they did with you," Adriano said.
"They want our baby," Camila gasped.
"I won't let anyone take the baby from you," I told her.
"Over my dead body," Adriano added.
"I'll take care of this," I told her. "I promise."
