Camila
After I peed on the stick. Dario took the stick and told me to go to sleep. I couldn't sleep. I was so anxious. Around 3 am I heard some noise coming from outside. I put my ear to the door but couldn't hear anything. I touched the doorknob ever so slowly and noticed the door wasn't locked. I slowly turned the doorknob and opened the door. I looked around and noticed no one was around. I walked into the hallway and looked around the corner. No one was around. Then I suddenly heard shouting.
"WHAT THE f**k!"
"WHAT THE f**k AM I GOING TO DO," Dario shouted. "This just became a f*****g mess." Dario threw a book at the wall. Then he made a phone call. "She's carrying the Silva, Rinaldi, Hernandez heir."
I put my hand to my belly. "Oh no," I whispered. Dario was arguing with someone.
"I don't know. If I sold her now they can figure out what to do with her," Dario said. "I'll get it done tonight." I heard everyone shuffling around. I started to back away and then I heard him. "GO GET HER!" I ran the opposite way until I reached a hallway with three doors. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I opened the first door on the right and ran like hell. I reached a kitchen. Some staff members looked at me shocked and confused. Then a maid came in and screamed. "f**k," I thought. I ran past them and headed towards a back door. I looked around. There was a white van that had its back doors opened and the driver's door was open as well. I felt someone grab my arm.
"Going somewhere," the man said. I elbowed him in the gut. I ran to the driver's side and hopped in. Luckily the keys were in the ignition. This felt like a movie even when I began to hear gunshots. I didn't look back or look in my mirrors. I knew I would get nervous and just like in the movies I would panic and hit a tree or something. I didn't know where I was but I figured if I was still near the city I would see something familiar. It was five in the morning, I had been driving for hours. I didn't know what to do. I felt my eyes getting heavy. I finally saw a sign for a motel. Well, I didn't think so much of a place to stay but I needed a safe place to borrow a phone.
I reached the motel and parked in the front lot. I walked in. I must look crazy but I didn't care.
"Um, miss, can I borrow a phone?" I asked. The front desk lady looked me up and down.
"Sure," she pulled out a small beige phone. One of those old phones with a cord. I dialed the only person whose voice I wanted to hear.
"Papa!" I said frantically.
"Camila," he said eagerly. "Where are you?"
"Hold on," I told him. I asked the lady at the front desk for an address and then I repeated it to my father.
"I am coming to get you. Stay there," he said. "I love you. I'll be there soon."
His voice calmed me. I asked the lady if I could sit in the lobby and wait for my father.
"Why don't you go sleep in one of our rooms," she said.
"My father will pay," I replied.
"Don't worry about that," she held my hand and took me to a room. I sat on the bed and waited. I don't really know when I laid down and fell asleep.
"Camila," I heard my mother's soft voice call my name. I couldn't open my eyes.
"Camila," I heard my father's concerned voice call my name again. I felt my eyelids open slightly but I was still so tired.
"Camila, baby," when I heard his voice my body tensed up. I felt someone pick me up. "Don't worry, I got you."
I didn't wake up until the next day. I looked around and realized I was in my room. I sat up and began to cry.
"Honey," my mother ran to me. "Are you okay?" I simply nodded.
"I am just so glad to be home," I cried on her shoulder.
"It's okay," she rubbed my back and soothed me. I wiped my tears as she got up and went to open the door for our maid. She handed my mother a try with a plate of food on it.
"Here, eat some breakfast and then come talk to your father and me," she said.
"Thank you," I told her. I ate breakfast as best I could. It was still hard to hold down food. I had almost forgotten about that small detail but my morning sickness quickly reminded me. I finished eating and went to my father's office. I was going to knock but then I remembered I was in my own home.
"Dad," I said as I opened the door. My father was sitting behind his desk as my mother stood beside him. Luciano was sitting in front of the desk. He got up and stared intently at me. I took a deep breath and walked in.
"Sit," my father said. I sat down. Lucian never took his eyes off me. I didn't want to look back at him. I knew it would make me weak. I would cry and blurt out what I needed to say to him.
"Honey, I know you might not want to talk about everything that happened but," my father paused. "I need you to tell me everything."
I blinked quickly. I didn't want to remember but my heart was racing.
"What you remember of where you were kept. Any detail, big or small, we need to find Dario," my father said.
"Okay," I began to relive every moment from the second I got kidnapped. I cried, I saw my mother cry. My father made fists and hit his desk hard. Luciano put his hand on my shoulder. I began to tremble when I told my father about the show I had to do for potential buyers. My father looked like he wanted to flip his desk over but he just threw a few things off of the desk. After it was over I went to my room. I told them I didn't want to speak to anyone. I really didn't want to hear the apologies or comforting words. I just wanted to be alone and think about what I was going to say to Luciano about the baby.
