Chapter 3

3010 Words
Cassandra... The past couple of days have been strange and I can tell I’m in Mystic Falls, it’s like a beacon for all supernatural creatures. A friend of Mason Lockwood - a werewolf who Damon killed- came in to town looking for Mason which led to him been classed as missing, Damon wanted to test a theory to see if she was a werewolf so with his friends help, who also happens to be a vampire Hunter, he attempted to poison her with wolfsbane which backfired as she smelt it in her drink, in retaliation she marked him and barged into the boarding house window as a wolf and tried to have a bite of Damon but instead she got Rosebud. Turns out that the legend was true, Rose started hallucinating and went rabid so to keep our secret Damon had to stake her in the heart after giving her a dream so she went peacefully. While all that was going off Elijah managed to get himself invited into the Gilbert’s home and made a deal with Elena, he with the help of his witches will protect everyone she loves but she had to stop trying to get Klaus attention, and of course Elena been Elena she bargained another deal that if she agreed he had to get his witches to let Stefan out of the tomb. Katherine was compelled to stay in the tomb for Klaus arrival. After hearing that he can compel other vampires I was glad I’ve been ingesting vervain all my vampire life, I didn’t want that happening to me, the Salvatore brothers decided to join me on the whole ingest vervain hype. Thanks to our trusty Bennett witch we found out Elijah’s deal was rubbish as he planned for the sacrifice to go ahead and for Elena to die. Stefan not having the best ideas tried to get help from Elena’s birth mother Isobel but instead John Gilbert came in to town, who turns out to be Elena’s biological farther, who was apparently here to do was keep Elena safe. Of course Stefan thought it was a good idea to keep him around as he knew about the sacrifice and how to save Elena, it didn’t help that Stefan was a worry wart and wasn’t convinced that the moonstone was actually de-spelled seen as though Bonnie had help from one of Elijah’s witches. Jules not liking the fact that Mason was dead called in her pack of wolves to cause trouble. It came out that Tyler Lockwood also knew about us been vampires so Stefan went to speak to him but out of retaliation Jules kidn*pped Caroline and started torturing her so of course the three of us along with Tyler had to go be the rescue team, but before it could get too far Elijah’s witch friend stepped in giving all the wolves an aneurism dropping them to their knees. After the whole vampire vs werewolves showdown John showed up at the house realising that we was actually going to protect Elena so he brought us a gift, a bottle of ash from a white oak tree that dated back from the time of the originals was born, and a silver dagger that had to be dipped into the ash before into the originals heart. Mine and Damon’s relationship has been the exact same, having fun with each other and then not talking about it after but in all honesty I’m glad because I don’t wanna lose my best friend. “Other than your lecture on Mystic Falls, get anything out of Elijah?” Hearing Damon from the side of me brought me out of my thoughts bringing me back to the present. “No it was boring. Of course Jenna thinks he’s charming” Ric smirked at us making me chuckle. “You sound jealous there Ric” Ric rolled his eyes making Damon chuckle with me. “I just need the right opportunity” Damon spoke up staring at the table doing his eye thing. “There’s Jenna with her new boyfriend and the news reporter girl” I spoke as I watched the three of them enter the grill. “Hi” Damon put his hand up so they’d join us. “Hey guys” Jenna smiled as she stood at side of our table. “I heard you three had quite a meeting of historical minds” Damon spoke looking at the newcomers. “Yeah I guess you could say that” Jenna nodded smiling at Elijah. “Well, as much as I’d like to continue this, I, uh, I’ve got papers to grade” Ric smile at us all chucking some money on the table. “You know what? We should continue this. Let’s have a dinner party” Andie spoke up making me inwardly smile. I knew she was going to be off with Jenna and Elijah today so I decided to catch her first to compel her to pass on any information we needed along with trying to get us all together so we could kill Elijah. “Ooh look at you all full of good ideas. I’ll be happy to host. Say tonight maybe?” Damon looked at Ric, Elijah and Jenna who still didn’t answer. “It’s good for me, Jenna?” Andie looked over at her friend. “No, I don’t know if tonight works-“ Ric started but Jenna cut him off “Yeah I’m free” I guess there’s problems already between them two, but I guess lying to her about the whole supernatural things isn’t a good thing to have in a relationship. “It would be a pleasure” Elijah shrugged as he smiled at Damon. “Well seen as though I’m living at your house count me in” Damon went off to see Katherine to try find out more information about the dagger John had given us, it was time for us to be smart because taking down an original can’t be easy I’m sure. Apparently Katherine was so worked up when he mentioned that he was going to dagger Elijah which made him sure he knew everything he needed to do. “This is a bad idea” Ric spoke as I walked into the library to join him and Damon, the girl talk with Andie and Jenna was about to make my head explode. “There’s no such thing” They both looked over at me, Ric with concern in his eyes and Damon with a bright smile. “She’s right, there’s just poorly executed awesome ones” Damon added as he handed me and Ric a drink. “No, I just don’t like the idea of Elijah being in the same house with Jenna” Ric explained making me sigh slapping his shoulder. “Jenna’s safe Ric, I promise you” I promised him because we weren’t stupid to let a human find out our secret. “Besides it’s just a fact finding mission. It’s totally harmless” I rolled my eyes at Damon because I could smell the bullshit. “Listen, no sneak attacks, no surprise plans. Nothing that’s gonna out Jenna in harms way, okay?” Ric spoke as he stood in front of Damon. “Scouts honour” Damon smiled as he grabbed Ric by the arm. As Ric left the room Damon walked over to the box he was storing the dagger and ash in. “We have to be careful Damon. Elijah a lot strong then us I might only be a few years younger but he’s an original. So this has to be about the element of surprise” I reminded him as he dipped the dagger in the ash. “I know, have you got news reporter ladies jobs sorted?” He questioned as he looked over at me. “Yes Damon, I ain’t stupid. She’s gonna suggest that we all have our drinks in here while she and Jenna do the coffee in the kitchen” I didn’t know why I needed to explain myself to him, but this was all his idea. John of course had to join us for all the fun and games at the dinner party, we tried to get rid of him but he wouldn’t budge and of course John been John thought he owned the place and worked straight through, and with Jenna been in the house we couldn’t exactly force him out with our vampire strength. When Elijah arrived that was a different story, he decided to give Damon a warning that if we had less than honourable intentions with tonight then Damon needed to reconsider, because even though he had a deal with Elena he’d kill us all if we crossed him, but by end of tonight there would be no worry seen as though he would be dead. “I hate to break it to you Damon, but according to Elijah your family is so not a founder of this town” Jenna spoke up as she poured some wine into his glass. “Do tell” I spoke up wanting to know what Elijah meant by that, I mean I knew as it was dated back to the Viking days but I wanted to know what he’d said to the human that wasn’t in the known. “Well as I mentioned to Jenna earlier a faction of settlers migrated from Salem after the witch trials in the 1690s. Over the next years they developed this community where they could feel safe from the persecution” Elijah explained making me let out a quite chuckle. “Because they were witches” Jenna joined in. “There’s no tangible proof there were witches in Salem” Andie added. “Well the lore says that there was this wave of anti-witch hysteria. Broke out in the neighbouring settlement, so the witches were rounded up, they were tied to stakes in a field together and, uh, burned. Some say you could hear the screams for miles as they were consumed by the fire” Elijah continued his little story which made me realise he was interested in where the witches was burnt for a reason, lucky for us I knew where the location was. “I, uh, wouldn’t repeat this to the historical society” Jenna and Andie chuckled as all of us in the know, myself, Damon, Ric and John all looked over at Elijah. “It’s starting to sound like a ghost story to me” John spoke up but we ignored him, I was doing good pretending the d**k wasn’t here. “So why’d you wanna know the location of these alleged massacres?” Damon questioned as he sat back in his chair. “You know, healthy historian’s curiosity of course” Elijah shrugged with a smile on his lips. “Of course” I added as I took a drink of my wine staring at him over the top of my glass. I wanted to know why he wanted to know this location because it’s not something that most people wanna know, only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with his witches, but the question is why? “Would anyone care for some cognac? I have a bottle I’ve been saving for ages” Damon spoke as he stood up from his seat. “Non for me thanks. Nine bottles of wine is my limit” Ric declined making me chuckle he was on his guard tonight with Jenna been around Elijah. “Why don’t you take your drinks to the library” Andie spoke up after I gave her a look, it was time to put Damon’s plan into action. “I have to say the food was almost as wonderful as the company” Elijah spoke up making me chuckle he was such a kiss ass the the two humans. Myself and Damon walked into the library with Elijah. “So let me guess, in addition to the moonstone, doppelgänger, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe you need to find the witch burial ground?” Damon spoke as he poured us more drinks. “Because I feel as though we’ve grown close, I’ll tell you, yes. Do you know where it is?” Elijah questioned as he turned around to look at us. “Maybe” I spoke up as I took my drink from Damon. “Tell me why it’s so important and I might just share that information with you” I bargained making him smirk at me. “We’re not that close” Elijah spoke as he took his drink from Damon and turned back around to look at all the books, Damon of course taking this to his advantage to get the dagger ready, but of course Ric had to barge in and ruin the moment. “We forgot about desert” He smiled at me and Damon crossing his arms making me glare at him for ruining the perfect moment especially since he brought Andie in with him. Elijah left with Andie leaving the three of us in the room because I wanted to know what the hell Ric was playing at. He started pointing to the dagger which we didn’t understand so he took a price of paper to write what he was trying to say since if he spoke Elijah would hear him. Turns out John was trying to get one of us killed as if a vampire was to use it it would not only kill the original it will also kill the vampire who used it. I was ready to kill John for trying to get either me or Damon killed and after tonight he’ll be wishing he never tried it in the first place. As the three of us joined the rest at the table Andie was asking if she could ask Elijah some questions about the work he’s doing in town, so while Ric was still standing she asked him to grab the notebook she carries with her, all while I was glaring at John I could easily jump over this table and tip his heart out right now and I don’t think anyone would miss him, but that would be hard to explain to Jenna. “Elijah, did John tell you that he’s Elena’s uncle/father?” I spoke up if he was gonna try get us killed I might just put a few words in to Elijah’s head seen as though our plan had gone bust and since Jenna wasn’t here I could speak about it with no worries. “Yes I’m well aware of that” Elijah nodded making me smirk over at him. “Of course she hates him, so, there’s no need to keep him in the endangered species list” Damon added as he looked over at a John who looked a little worried. Andie left to help Ric find the notebook seen as though he was taking so long. “What I’d like to know Elijah is how you intend on killing Klaus” John spoke looking at the original. “There’s a few things we should probably get clear right now. I allow you to live solely to keep an eye on Elena. I allow Elena to remain in her house living her life with her friends as she does as a courtesy. If you become a liability, I’ll take her away from you. You’ll never see her again” Elijah explained just as Andie joined us again, Jenna still in the kitchen sorting desert out. “Okay, my first question is when you got here to Mystic-“ she started her questions just as Elijah let out a scream making her gasp and stand up. I stood up looking at Ric who had shoved the dagger through the chair and into Elijah’s hear until he’s face turned all veiny proving that he was dead before pulling it out. Me and Damon shared a look before looking back at the Hunter confused because he was the one who didn’t want anything to go down tonight. “Now get rid of him before Jenna comes back with desert” Ric spoke as he put the dagger on the table staring at us bother. “All right” I shrugged because what more could I say? I’ve just watched a human kill an original. Only thing that went wrong with that plan was the dagger wasn’t left in meaning Elijah came back to life, so we had to beat Elijah to the Gilbert lake house so Elijah could dagger him and keep the dagger in this time because he was out for revenge. So that’s exactly what happened, Elijah was once again shoved in the basement cell this time with the dagger left in his heart, and one moonstone took out of his jacket pocket. “You guys want me to fight, fine I’ll fight. But if we’re gonna do this you can’t keep anything from me anymore. From this moment in we’re doing it my way” Elena started as we went to leave the basement. “Seems fair” Damon shrugged after sharing a look with me and Stefan. “Someone’s had a change in attitude” I spoke as she left. “I told her a little story about when I was making the wrong decisions and somebody showed me there was a better way” Stefan explained as he looked at Damon with his arms crossed over his chest. “Lexi?” Damon questioned. “Yeah, you remember her?” Stef questioned before walking off, turns out Damon had her killed to cover his tracks before I came in to town, but it was clear to see that Damon was resentful for killing his little brothers friend. Damon dragged me into his room as his lips planted themselves on mine just before we pulled apart hearing the shower on in his bathroom, who the hell was having a shower in his room? We both walked in to see Katherine stood there naked. “Hello Damon, Cassandra. Do you have a robe?” She questioned as she stood in front of us. “How the hell did you get out?” I questioned because Elijah compelled her to stay in there. “I knew if I begged Damon not to kill Elijah, that’s exactly what you’d do. Little known fact, originals can compel vampires, but soon as they die, compulsion wears off” She explained making me and Damon share a look. “And you knew” Damon glared at her. “And I’m still here, I didn’t run. I meant what I said Damon, I’m going to help you. So I’ll have your room Cassandra seen as though you and Damon seem to be sharing”
