He had, however, spent quite a bit of time with Dod’s parents. He and Dod had been friends since nursery school. Dod’s parents were both very fond of him, and they liked to hear him talk about Dod and all the things they’d got up to over the years. Not all of it was suitable for parents’ ears. There were enough jolly japes, though, to make Mrs McCaskill laugh and cry at the same time. Daisy had managed not to see Kippy for the last four weeks. It hadn’t been easy. She stayed away from certain parts of the town, and she made Katrina tell her where he was all the time so that she could avoid those areas. T
