It's been a series of searches for the mystery woman, a single night of pleasure that built something different within me. I have heard words about love at first sight but never had a time to experience any, with tight law school schedules and classes back in the days, now to run the family empire. A legitimacy my brother has benefitted from while I was away. I don't believe in sentimental love; it has to be mutual, but my mother feels it is right to marry rich and sustain each other; that way she believes the family's wealth grows. All of a sudden my meditation was broken when my mother broke the silence. “It's been over a month since you got back into the country, and you have been cold about getting married; don't you want your entitlement, respect, and dividend of your father's?” This had been the topic upon her picking me up from the airport; she would stop at nothing to make it sink. "Mom, I'm working on it, and trust me, I've found someone. Just give me time, and I promise it will work out, and you will get to know and like her.” Dropping my shoulders, I leaned back, looking right into my mother's eyes. I could see how serious she was but intended to make her see my own reasons as well. “How soon? You know Bianca is of a reputable family, and a union between you two would further grow our families.” My mother took my left hand, squeezed gently, and placed her warm lips on them. Then he looked at me with a frown but a serious look, without a single smile. I can't settle for her mom. She is not even into me, and neither am I into her. I tried having a serious conversation with her, and all she thought were luxurious. Pulling my hands back into myself, I took two steps backwards. With a smirk, she responded immediately. “You can afford those luxuries, can't you?” "Yes, I can, but not for someone who I know is hell bent on achieving luxury over raising a family; I want love, not bondage or being indebted.” It was only Stephen who had his way of convincing our mother, maybe because he was always around her while I got shipped in and out of one boarding school to the other in search of a matching school environment to fit my learning style as I was a detailed learner who paid attention to every little detail. “Mom, were you forced on Dad?” I asked, raising her head to mine. “Of course not, and that's why it took us this long to build all we have, and we can't even be strong enough to eat the fruits we laboured for.” Dropping her shoulder, she hit the centre of the couch; her eyes, once bright with anticipation, dropped into a shadow. I could tell it wasn't the result she expected. “Mom, I will be fine. I just dropped in to check up on you and dad before heading into the office. Do stay safe. I have it all under control.” “I love you, son.” She placed her lips on my forehead and pulled me into her arms as she wrapped me all up with her warm embrace. —---------- “Any news on this mystery girl you described?” I turned in my chair as Richie Leonard walked in. Expecting a convincing response is enough to light up my day. “Not at all boss, but there's this news going around the Internet about a girl involved in...” “Enough, I told you I don't have time for those stories; they are always fabricated, and it's either the storyteller wants attention or wants to ruin a name, so I don't buy such.” I stroked the table as I got up and turned to the windows, caught by the bright beauty that shines from the reflection of our office on the class building across the street, inclined by the rays of the sun surging very bright that morning. It's another day without finding this mystery woman; she left without saying even her name to help me with. “Boss, how about I check in the hotel she booked to find out about her details that could help us find her?” And for the first time today I heard something interesting, and intelligently I thought. Not just you, Richie; I'll join you this time so you know how serious this entire thing is to me. My mom has to believe in me, and I'm not giving up on finding my dream woman. “Throw me the keys; I'll drive.” I ordered stretching my arms, requesting he place the key to my black Nissan SUV in my hands. “But sir, how do you want the world to view this, that you're driving me around?” He resisted and held back. Now listed, on no account do you question my decisions. I pulled all smiles away and walked closer to him as I looked him right in the eyes. Handing the key over, we walked out almost running as if being chased by a polar bear. “And what hotel was that again?” I asked Richie. Feeling lost already in my thoughts. Moments from that night kept on racing in and out of my mind; her beauty Stoked me countless times, my heart raced, and at the same time my hands grew weak. “Golden Age Resorts” He responded with a straight face. I could tell he wasn't happy about how I spoke to him earlier; of course he was just my secretary but a good friend as well. He's been my helping hand since my return to the country. Hss is a first-class graduate, but his lack of family class could only earn him a highly paid job in my family company. “He should know his limits.” I mumbled words as I pushed the engine button on. The sound of the car gave me the go-ahead for a speedy ride, as I couldn't wait to gather every bit of information I could to help me find my woman. —------- “Who's the manager, please? This is urgent.” Richie asked, knocking on the reception desk occasionally. “Here he is.” The receptionist responded almost 30 seconds after placing a call. As Richie went on to give the description of what we wanted, every corner of the resort reminded me of how I met her. "Yes, I can give you her details.” The manager responded by running his chick wide with a fake smile. Who wouldn't want to give favours to the wealthy? I thought. “Here it is.”
