Katrina
I walk away without even looking back. This would make me change my mind and that's the last thing I would wanna do now. The town is unusually quite. Port's ville is a place known to be full with people even in the night but now it has turned as quite as a grave yard. What explanation do I need now. They were looking for me and now they are killing innocent souls just because of me.
I would put an end to this if that's the last thing I'd do.
"What are we going to do now?" Star light asks.
"Go into hiding I guess" I answer.
I'm not really sure of what to do in a situation like this. I'm not a reckless type.
"Go into hiding? This is hilarious, and then why did you left home? You can go into hiding in there as well" she says.
She's kinda right but I will put my parents life in danger in the process.
"There's gotta be something we can do, right?" I ask for her opinion.
"If you would have listened to me in the first place, we wouldn't be having this conversation" she complains.
"And put all the town's people lives in danger, I told you for the millionth time that these monsters are after me, can't you get it" I shout at her.
I'm really angry right now, can't she understand.
"I'm sorry" I apologize.
"No, it's not your fault" she says.
Before I could say a word. I see myself standing at the main gate of Port's ville. How did we get here, only God knows.
"We gotta make our decision now, are we leaving this town or are we to do something?" I ask her again.
She starts pacing left and right. After some minutes, she finally stops.
"I suggest that we leave the town but we shouldn't go far, this will help us know what's going on in there" she says pointing to the town.
"Yeah, you're right" I agree with her.
I turn and walk out of my birth place. Maybe I will never come back, ever.
"There's a little forest ahead, we can hide in there" star light suggests.
She really does know this town more than I. But I can't tell her this right now because I'm not in the mood to talk.
"OK" I say.
This huge bag pack is getting heavier, I can't wait to rid it off my back.
We walk for about thirty minutes until we reach the forest that star light's talking about. We walk a bit deep inside.
"We can stop here, it's not safe to be deep into a forest" she says.
From where we are, I can see the main road leading to Port's ville. I drop the huge bag off my back and rest on the ground which is unimaginably dirty. But I've been in this kind of situation before so, I don't care. I pick up my phone from my trouser. I've changed into my disguise clothes before leaving the house, I can't risk anybody recognizing me, even though I didn't meet a single soul on my way out if the town. I check my phone for signal and thankfully, there's still a weak signal around here. Which means I can find out what's going on in the town through my phone. I hope this will be over soon.
It's thirty minutes past three now. Two to three hours before my parents come back and find out that their beloved daughter is missing, maybe forever.
"You hungry?" I ask star light.
"Yeah, let me go and find us something to eat, you go and gather some sticks to make fire" she says.
"That's not necessary, I've packed some food in my bag" I say.
I get up from the ground at open the bag.
First, I take out my camp tent, we need shelter out here, so I've improvised for it. Then I take out a bag that I filled with food. I turn and show Star light.
"Wise but this will not be enough for us, and as it is, no body knows when we'll be outta here" she says.
Actually, I've packed these only for me but at the last minute, star light insisted that she's coming with me.
"We'll worry about that later, now let's eat" I say.
I bring out a loaf of bread and some butter. I do like eating simple sandwich even in times of danger. That reminds me, the bag that I lost I'm the forest also has my precious sandwich ingredient. They're rotten now I know, or some vicious animal has eaten them. I prepare the sandwich for us and hand star light her share and we eat silently.
After we have finished eating,
"And how are we going to sleep here, the trees are not like that of Kansasdale forest, so I don't think we can sleep in them?" Star light asks.
"Not to worry, I've also improvised for that" I say.
I get up and show her the tent I brought.
"Brilliant, then let's go and find some sticks to make fire" she says and starts heading into the forest.
"Stop" I call out to her.
"What now?, its getting dark already" she asks.
"I have also brought a lantern and it's solar charged, so you see, we don't need any electricity to charge it" I say, before she starts complaining that we don't have electricity to charge it.
"OK, let's start making the tent then" she says and walks toward me.
Within twenty minutes or so, we have finished making the camp and we are already sitting in it.
"It would have been very nice if we were on a vacation, not running away" Star light comments.
"Don't wanna even talk about it" I say and we all smile.
I pick up my phone to check the time. It's ten minutes past five already.
In the morning when I was eagerly waiting for my parents to come back from work, the time went frozen and now it's flying so fast. If my parents have come back early, they would have seem my letter by now because I kept it on the centre table for a reason. My parents usually drop the car keys in there.
As if on cue, my phone starts ringing and guess what, it's my mom calling. I want to pick up the call and explain things to her but it's not that simple. The call gets disconnected before I can even think of rejecting it. I quickly turn off the phone before they try calling again. I put my head between my knees and start crying my heart out.
"What is it now?" Star light asks with so much concern.
"It's mom, she just called and I don't know what to say to her" I say while crying.
"Stop crying dear, everything is gonna be OK, just believe in yourself and stay strong" she says.
"Yeah, you're right" I say and start cleaning up my face.
I bring out the only thing that reminds me of them. It's an amulet that I've been wearing since when I was young.
My mom put it on my neck since when I was a baby and I didn't remove it either.
"What's that?" Star light asks with a question mark on her face.
"My mom gave it to me since when I was young" I answer.
"It's the only thing that will reminds me of them" I say broken hearted.
"It's a very special gift" she says and tries to touch it.
"No you can't touch it, sorry but I promised my mom not to let any body come close to it apart from I" I say.
"Ohhh!" she says and walks back and sit.
"I'm really sorry if that offended you" I apologize to her.
"No, I'm glad to see that you really treasure it with your life actually" she answers.
"You're not angry then?" I ask.
"No, of course not" she says and walks onto my lap just to assure me she's fine.
"I'm really glad you have my back" I say and I really mean it.
Not even my best friend Martha would walk away from comfort because of me, I'm sure.
"I'll always be here for you" she says.
We start chatting to pass out the time. When it's really dark, we eat our little dinner and lie down to sleep, even though it's so uncomfortable here but I have a friend and companion with me and that's all that matter.
