Chapter twenty seven - Today's a happy day

Adrien

"I've gathered all of you here for an important reason" I address the pack. 

Today, I wanna officially announce Harry as my Beta and also assign another second in command. 

"As you all knew, before I went for my journey, I have assigned Harry as my Beta, so now gonna make it official today" I say. 

"Do anyone of you have any problem with that, if you have just come forward and say it" I say. 

I give them about ten minutes to discuss amongst themselves. 

"We have no objection your Majesty" the fairies leader say. 

I turn to the vampires. I have almost forgotten, their leader was my sister's deceased mate, so they don't have a leader as of now. 

So they all shout. 

"We have no objection too Sir" they say in unison. 

The werewolves also accepted. 

There are many other supernatural creatures in my pack but due to their huge population, we decided that the vampires, fairies and werewolves would be the three groups to represent them in court since they are the one with high population and power. 

"Harry Sebastian, may you please came forward" I announce. 

He walks over to the stage that I was standing and comes up. 

"I Alpha Adrien of the Red crescent moon pack, have hereby announce you as my new Beta, do you accept to serve and sacrifice your life for the safety of your pack?" I ask. 

I know Harry would lay down his life for the safety of these pack members but it's just a formality that we have to follow because of the assurance of the pack members. 

"I seldom swear to serve and protect this pack with my life" he swears. 

"Then I announce you as the new Beta of this prestigious pack" I say. 

I walk closer to him. 

"This is gonna hurt a bit, but it will be healed eventually" I whisper in his ear. 

I dug my sharp teeth into his neck, so deep that I know it will leave a huge mark. And that's it, the bond has been made. Now he will be my Beta, for the rest of his life. The crowd all starts applauding while the werewolves turn into their wolf form and starts howling in unison. 

I look into his eyes and I know that he's getting a bit dizzy from the bite but he will be all fine by tomorrow morning. The force of the bond we share now is really trying to go through his vein and be a part of him. 

"Harry is our old second in command Sir, so now that he's our Beta, who's gonna be our new second in command?" One of the vampires asks. 

"I've also thought about that" I answer him. 

Today I'm in a very good mood, that's why I didn't get angry when he asked the question. 

"And also, as you all knew, the leader of the vampires sect was killed in that fateful attack, so I decided that I would also assign a new leader to them too" I add. 

They all start to murmur. 

"Please I need order!" I announce sternly and they all keep quite. 

That's more like it. 

"For my second in command, I want all the three sects to choose an eligible contestant and we'll vote on who deserves it the most" I announce. 

"I give every sect thirty minutes to decide who their contestant will be and then present them to me" I say. 

I walk back to my seat and sit down besides Beta Harry. He has now officially become a member of the high table and took over Beta Lucas's place. 

"Does it hurt?" I tease him. 

"As if you would have to ask, of course it hurts, it's like as if you were trying to suck the life out me, how I wish I would also bite you too, you would know I have felt too" he says and we all laugh. 

"Too bad no body in this pack can bite me" I say to him. 

"Uhhh! Not yet, when you finally find your mate, she'll surely compensate for all the bites you did to us" he says. 

"But I doubt that you would even feel the pain at the time because you'd be filled with your lust to even notice that you are bitten" he whispers in my ear. 

Way to ruin a perfect mood for someone. I have finally learnt to forget that deceitful creature and now he has reminded me of her. I frown a little. 

"I don't wanna talk about mate issues now, you should just be thankful that you have found yours so soon and she's perfect for you" I say a bit angry. 

"Ohhh! Suck it up man, you always become unnecessarily angry when I bring the mate subject" he says. 

I feel like getting up and ripping him apart. But the crowd saved him when they finally announce that they have made the decision of their contestants. 

"The moon goddess has surely saved you today but I'll get back at you later" I say and get up to address the contestants. 

They have made a really good decision I see. The contestants are amongst the best and trustworthy of my pack. 

"Good choice" I say. 

"Now, since we only need one second in command, I would like all of you to vote for the contestant of your choice, then we'll make the winner the second in command and then we'll assign the other two a special royal duty" I add. 

"As you all know, I have the right to choose between them and there will be no objection, but I want all of you to be satisfied by whom you choose to guide you, so choose wisely" I say. 

"It doesn't matter if he's not from the same sect with you, no, as long as you feel that he's worthy just vote for him?" I add. 

I know some of them might feel bad voting for someone who's not from their sect, that's why I gave that speech. I order one of the guards to bring three basket. I order them to write the name of the contestants on each. 

"As you can see, I've placed these baskets here, now I want everyone of you to get a sheet of paper and write the name of the contestant that he wants to vote for and then we'll count them afterwards" I say. 

I know that this is how human do their voting. It seems fair to me if you let the people choose whom they like than to force them to obey whom you choose, that's why I decided to use this method. 

"Now I give you all an hour to all cast your votes and then we'll count them all together" I say. 

I walk back to my other high table members and join them. 

"Seems like someone is in a good mood today and to whom do we owe this gratitude?" Beta Harry teased. 

"I don't know I just feel happy today, maybe it's the fact that my sister is finally adjusting to the loss of her mate" I say and smile. 

Seriously, since when I removed her from that basement, she has been more gentle and kind toward the others. I guess it was all a mistake to even think of caging her there. 

"I'm glad to hear that, I was so worried for her, you could not imagine what she had been through when she thought that you had also left her" he says in a sad tone. 

He's right, I shouldn't have done this to her in the first place. She just needs me to adjust and I left without even saying goodbye, but now I will stay by her side as a brother and as a leader whose subject needs him the most. 

An hour has already passed and all the sect have voted. Now it's time for counting. I asked one of the vampires to count and the fairies to recheck while the werewolves should discard the already counted vote so as to prevent double counting. 

Within thirty minutes, the votes have all been counted and Albert, from the vampire sect came out as the winner. I couldn't deny it too. He really does deserve that, he's one of the bravest and oldest vampires I've ever came across. He's over a thousand years old. 

"I therefore announce Albert as the new second in command" I announce. 

"And for the other two, you will be the protectors of our borders from today" I add. 

That's by far the most wanted job apart from all other from the high table. 

After they have all finished rejoicing, I turn to the vampires. 

"And about your new leader, who do you want to assign now?" I ask. 

"We don't have to argue about that my Alpha, we would like Michael's younger brother, Marcus to be our leader" one of the vampires say. 

"Do you all agree?" I ask them. 

"Yes sir, we have no objections" they all answer. 

"OK then, you go and start the preparation of his enthronement" I say. 

Thank goodness. All the packs madness is almost done for now. 

"Ahmm! I would like to make a special announcement before we are all dismissed" I call to their attention. 

"As we all know, the full moon will be due in three days time" I say and I can see the sad looks on their faces. 

"Since we missed the last two festivals, I would like this one to be more grand than ever, we would invite all of the pack members, werewolves or not, you are all invited" I say. 

"We'll cherish the memory of our deceased for their bravery and their sacrifice" I say. 

'And to pray for another mate' I add to myself only. 

"You are all dismissed" I say. 

They all start walking out of the hall that the meeting was held and head to their respective homes. 

"I'm glad this is finally over, I really do need to rest" Beta Harry complains. 

"Yeah you really need that after being bitten by the mighty Adrien" I joke. 

We walk out of the hall together and head to my pack house. 

"You should really pick a day to move in here'?" I say. 

"No, I'm fine where I am" he refuses. 

"It's not a choice, it's an order, you have to stay close to the Alpha in case emergencies comes up" I say. 

"OK Sir, I'll start making arrangements for that after the full moon festival" he says and bows. 

I dismissed him and walk into the house to my sister's room. She hasn't attended the meeting even though I asked her too. 

She said that she's still not sure if she can face any crowd now, so I let her be.
