Diana was hardly in her room for a moment before she was headed toward the attic once again. She allowed herself one single moment, leaning against the door after she closed it, to breathe in deeply and process what happened. Then she was off. Her heart raced as she climbed the ladder and when she emerged in the unfinished attic space, she could hear her blood as it rushed through her veins. She didn’t know exactly what it was, but the arrival of Lazarus Wren had set her nerves singing with some intuition she didn’t quite understand. But it told her that something was wrong. The house was eerily silent upstairs, and if she didn’t know where everyone was, Diana would be worried that her steps would alert the Westerlys that she was out of her room. But since they were all two stories below
