Chapter 12 A Friend

1132 Words
It’s been a couple of weeks since I first arrived. Jeana, the pack doctor says that I am gaining weight and healing quite nicely. However, she is worried about my mental state and wants me to see the pack therapist. She set up an appointment for me later today.  Jax and I are walking back to his house for lunch. Marissa the house lady is making tomato soup and grilled bacon and cheese sandwiches for lunch. She is the one that walked into my room the second day when I almost attacked her. Her daughter, Claire is usually with her. Claire is ten and such a sweet little thing.  Marissa and I have started to become friends. She is human and lost her husband to some rogues a few years ago. However, her daughter is half werewolf because of her father. As soon as we make outside the door my mouth starts to water, the food smells so good! Once inside I rush to the kitchen and our bowls and sandwiches are already on the table. I start to dig in and Jax finally makes his way to the kitchen and sits down to eat. “Did your appointment go well?” Marissa ask as she comes into the kitchen. “Mmmhmm.” I reply. Once I swallow the food in my mouth, I tell her “Thank you for lunch! It is delicious!” “Anytime dear.” She replies as she is getting us some milk. My vocabulary and reading have gotten significantly better since Marissa and her daughter have been helping me with it. They are truly amazing people that I already love so much. Jax and I have also been getting closer, he has been there to help me so much. I know that he is anxious for me to meet the rest of the pack and announce that I am his mate and the Luna. However, I am so not ready for that. I have already heard people gossip when they visit the Jax for something an on our walk to the doctors and back.  They all know who I am, but that can’t believe that I am still alive especially with the scars that are visible. I am done eating and decide that I am going to read the book that Claire gave me.  “Thank you, Marissa, and Jax.” I tell them. “Do not forget that we have another appointment and 5pm.”  Jax tells me. “I won’t.” I reply. I sit down on the comfy brown chair and start to read. Before I know it Jax is telling me that it is time to go. We get up and start are walk to the pack hospital again. I again hear whispers about me which I choose to ignore. Once we make it in the building, we go up to the 5th floor instead of the 2nd floor. There is a total of 6 floors in the building. The basement is a giant safe room for the whole pack, 1st is for waiting, emergencies, and, labor and delivery. 2nd is for normal appointments, 3rd pediatric, 4th cardiology and neurological, 5th Psychiatric, and 6th doctor offices and lounge. I check in at the desk and sit down next Jax, “Are you okay?” he asks me. “Yes, I’m alright.”  “Elle Shadow, Mrs. Langley is ready to see you.” I get up and bid my goodbye to Jax for an hour and I follow the lady to the room. Mrs. Langley is short lady with blonde hair and gray eyes. She is sitting in a chair in front of her desk. “Please sit, Ms. Shadow.” She says nicely. I do as she says. “Today, we are going to go easy. First I want to know what you want to be called and second thing I want to know is how are you feeling.” She says. “I like to be called Elle and I feel fine.” I reply. “Can you tell me what you mean by fine?” she asks. I think about it for a second. “I don’t feel happy or sad, I just feel right in the middle. Like everything is going good and I am not as tense.” I tell her. “That is better.” She says. “Now I will tell you about myself. I am Sara Langley, 41 years old. I have a husband named Jack and two boys who are both now grown and are guards for the pack. My favorite color is green because of my boys’ eyes and my favorite food is rotisserie chicken. Your turn.” “Okay I am 18 years old, no kids, I do not know what my favorite color is. However, my favorite food is double chocolate chip cookies that my mom made me.” I tell her. We tell each other things about us for a while. I do not really remember much so I tell her what I know. Eventually the hour is up, and it is time to get back home. The food once again smells amazing before we walk in the door. I make it to the kitchen and there is somebody I don’t recognize yelling at Marissa. I growl instantly to protect to Marissa. The girl turns around and yells at me “Who do you think you are to yell at me?” I growl “Leave her alone.”  “She walks over to me and pushed me while saying “Or what?” My wolf takes this as a challenge and takes over. I grab her by the throat and left her up in the air. My canines extend and a let out a vicious growl. “I said leave her alone!” I growl half yell. I hear Jax try and talk to me, but I am to focused on choking this girl. She is starting to turn blue when Jax grabs my face and pulls it towards him, so I am looking at him. “Bellona, I know that you are in control. It is time to let the girl go, no need to harm in front of Marissa and Claire.” He tells me softly. I Look at the girl and say “DO NOT CHALLENGE ME AGAIN” before I throw across the room. She lands with a hard thud against the wall leaving it caved in. She is gasping for breath, I turn and leave. I need to run. “Wait!” Jax yells at me but it is to late, I have already run out the door, shifting quickly.
