CHAPTER.8

Archer Pov:

The Following Morning, I woke up early and headed straight to Adrian Place. When I got to his Mansion, I met him already dressed up, he was eating at the diner.

“Archer, you are here already… I don’t know you will be here early” He said as he sipped the juice on the table.

“Have you forgotten I race with Ryker that i***t doesn’t wanna give up” I said as I sat down on the sofa.

“That’s true, I am done. Let’s go, I’m done eating” He muttered.

We both left the room and headed straight to the woods, we got there and met all the people there, including the elders and Ryker’s family.

“Archer, I thought you won’t show… I can see you are scared of me, why don't you give up since you know you are gonna lose this race” Ryker said, walking towards me.

“Are you saying that to me or yourself, you should be the one to give up cause you know you will never win” I said and he scoffed.

“Then let’s see” He uttered and turned into his wolf form.

Adrian patted my shoulder and I changed into my wolf form, I glanced at the elders who were standing in front of me.

“The race begins now,” Elder Fridolf said.

We jumped into the woods and started running speedily, I ran as speedily as I could and left Ryker at the back, I was about to turn to check on him when I saw him roll, he pushed me and I fell, I stood up immediately and ran speedily. A few minutes later, he was about to get to the final when I rolled up and I won.

I glanced at everyone and they were so happy, Ryker changed into his human form, and one of the girls threw a wrapper at him to cover his naked body, I walked to a corner to change into my human form and Adrian gave me my shirt, I wore it, after I was done I came out then Celeste jumped on me.

“Move away,” I said in a low voice.

She frowned and disengaged, I walked towards Ryker.

“Didn’t I tell you are gonna lose this race, you even tried to cheat but I still won” I said, gazing at him.

He couldn’t say anything, he stood there glaring dangerously at me, I smiled and went to meet my friends.

“Now that you won the race, it’s time for you to rule the pack as from today you are the leader of the pack, we need to explain the work of the leader to you… Archer, we haven’t found the corpse of your father so we are still searching for it, show we send more guards to search for it” Elder Fridolf asked.

“Fridolf, don’t rush things. Don’t you think we need to start planning for the war, Gebe sent us a message that he wants to rule both kingdoms by saying this, he is calling for the war cause he knows we won’t allow him to do that” Elder Finir said.

“What? How dare he? After what he did to this pack, he killed Archer’s father and now he is calling for war” Celesta said, furiously.

“Don’t worry, we already sent a spy to him, one of our guards here is now a spy there, he informed me that an unknown man putting on black clothes with a mask came to see him yesterday, we don’t know who it is yet??” Elder Fridolf said and I frowned.

“If I find out the person is from this pack, I will make sure I kilim or her, why are we all betraying ourselves all because we wanna rule the pack, this is one of the reasons why I don’t wanna be the leader of the pack, I said with a frown.

“But without the leader, the pack is not complete, we need to be vigilant now cause we don’t know when the war will happen,, Elder Finir said and I nodded then they left.

As soon as they left, we walked out of the woods and were heading out when someone called my name, I turned back to see Hola. I don’t know what is wrong with her, did she want to get killed, what if the elders find out she is the daughter of our enemy, I don’t want her to be in danger that is the reason I am trying to be close to her. I glanced at Celeste who was glaring at her.

“At her, why don’t you guys have some conversation?” Adrian said and grabbed Celesta.

“Why would…”

“We don’t have anything to say,” I said, interrupting him.

“Archer” Hola called and held my hand.

“Hola, I already let you know my…”

I didn’t complete my statement when Adrian coughed, he did that to stop me so that Celesta wouldn’t find out Hola was not from our pack. I removed my hand slowly from Hola and moved back a little bit.

“Hola or whatever you called yourself, if you don’t understand what he means when he moved away let me tell you… he means you should stay away from him, stop forcing yourself on him, he is my mate and not yours so why don’t you leave him or do you want what happened 20 years ago shoulrerepeatid and I became angry at her.

“Celesta, stop it” I yelped with anger purely shown in my voice.

Celesta was scared of them, she kept quiet and glared at Hola before waking away.

“Archer, this will be the last time I will speak with you… goodbye,” Hola shouted and ran away.

I wanted to run after but Adrian stopped me, I could feel my heart burning, and and my wolf groaned.

“Archer, she is our mate” My wolf muttered as he whimpered.

I stared at Hola as she left, I wished I could stop her but I didn’t want her life to be in danger because of me. As time goes on I will make sure of the two-pack unit.

“Let’s go, Archer” Adrian said and I nodded then we left the woods and headed straight home.

We got to the Mansion and met dishes already served in the dining, mom walked towards me and hugged me.

“I know that you’re gonna win the race… you are just like your father” She said with a smile.

I know she wasn’t happy when she mentioned my father but she doesn’t want to show it so that she won’t ruin the happy moments, so I smiled at her and pecked her cheek. Even though I don’t feel like eating now, I need to because I don’t want my mother to be worried.

“Now that I won the race and became the leader of the pack, I know Ryker and his father won’t let me be in peace so I need to stay focused and make sure everything goes as planned,” I thought as I chewed the meat in my mouth.

Minutes later, immediately after we were done eating Adrian and Celeta left then I went to my room. I got to my room and sat down on the bed, my mind drifted to what the elders said.

“The traitor didn’t give up after he killed my father… I will

make sure I kill him myself but how am I gonna do that when his daughter is my mate”
