She's Back!
CASSY’S POV....
I was back to where it all began. Staring at the tall white building before me, I choked on my own emotions. The memories of the past years rushed fresh in my mind like it was yesterday. It’d been freaking f*cking 10 years I left this godforsaken place yet I'm back again. To do what exactly?
A wicked glint graced my face as I remembered why I had returned to Shadow Pack; to take revenge on the b*stard who had made me regretted my very existence.
Good thing is, I can speak now.
“Who do you wish to see?” A voice drew me out of my thought as I stared at the guard, momentarily lost.
“Who do you wish to see?” he repeated his question, a frown crossing his face. I was sure the guard recognized me but he did nothing to show it.
I gave a polite smile. “I wish to see your Alpha, tell him Cassy is at the gate.”
He bowed and left, a few minutes later he was back.
“He wishes to see you, this way Ma’am.” He stated with a smile. This time around something in his posture had changed. As I didn't wish to know what it was about, I brushed past him making my way inside; shoulders up and head held high.
When I decided to return I knew what I was coming back to do and I will stay true to my plans. No f*****g bond mate is going to destroy my 10 years of planned revenge.
The guard led me into a lounge and I settled down, glancing around. A lot had changed here. This lounge used to be a shade of gray colors but it looked more alive now. It's been repainted to that of hazel green. That's welcoming.
I freckled my face when I remembered there was nothing welcoming about this hell hole. Being in here reminds me of why I was back. The years of constant torture, neglects and maltreatment by the people who were supposed to protect me.
Funny, yeah? Life always happens to us in a strange way. Well, I'm all better now.
“Look who's back!”
A smirk appeared on my face the minute I heard the one voice that was similar to mine, Carissa’s; my b!tch of a twin. Mustering a well practiced smile, I looked up and there she was looking elegant and gorgeous. The years had definitely been good to her.
“Hello, dear sister.” I gestured with the smile maintaining on my face and rising to my feet all together. I glanced briefly at her and realized she was heavily pregnant.
Good for her.
“So after ten years, you're back.” She slurred with a glare. The viciousness in her voice was evident. She didn't seem pleased to see me. Mutual feelings; I was not pleased to see her either.
“Don't worry, Dear sister, I'm not here to cause trouble. I was in town so I decided to stop by to say hello to old acquaintances.” I muttered, amusement dancing in my eyes.
The irony of my words. I was here to cause trouble and I wasn't stopping by. I had returned home for a purpose.
“Is that so?” She questioned suspiciously. She didn't believe me and I didn't care.
“Yeah, but I'm afraid I might stay awhile here.” I simply stated and sat back on my seat. She huffed and took a seat opposite me.
“You can't remember your way home? I'm sure Father and Mother will be happy to see you.” There was some element of mockery in her voice.
“Don't mind me, I left something here that I would like to pick up before heading home.” I looked around then rested my gaze on her, “you have become busy over the years. You married yo…?”
I couldn't finish my statement when this sweet familiar scent hit my nostrils. My breath hitched and slowly I lifted my eyes to the man at the doorway. For a split moment my world stopped moving.
Andrea, my Wolf leaped at the sight of my Ex-Mate, Herman Parker.
“Cassidy!” He sounded so surprised.
Shaking my head off the unwanted thoughts creeping in, I quickly got to my feet with a wide smile. “Good to see you again, Herman.”
“You are here?” He headed straight to me and enveloped me in a tight hug. “Certainly it is.” The surprise in his voice, still very much there. I let him hug me with so much irritation but I couldn't show it on my face. Rather I masked it with the smile that had refused to slip off my face since my arrival.
“Certainly it is.” I repeated and carefully withdrew from the hug.
“You are back?” Was his next question which got accompanied by a nod of approval from me.
“Yes, for a little while.”
“Alright then, I will let them set up your old room for you.” He announced happily like he just got his favorite toys. How shameless for him to have forgotten all he did to me. The nerve of him to stand before me and pretend that we were actually friends. His memories seemed to be missing because tell me why he would forget so soon. Ten years is a long time or is it not?”
“There won't be any need.” I waved off with a chuckle. “I stopped by to pick a belonging of mine and after that I will head back home. I'm sure my parents are eager to see me.”
The smile on his face dropped instantly.
“Oh! In that case, what is it?.” He c****d his brows eagerly waiting for me to mention what it was that I needed to fetch. But on second thought, I decided that the pack house was the right place to be. If I was going to enact my revenge, I should do that in a close range.
“I think I will stay here. I could go see my parents maybe tomorrow or next.” I announced, watching his smile return to his face in full display. Looking past my sister, I could see she wasn't happy with my announcement. “If that's okay with you My dear sister.” I added with a smirk dancing at the corner of my lips.
“Of course, I'm sure Carissa wouldn't mind.” He agreed quickly and then turned towards Carissa. “Or do you mind darling?”
With a nod, Carissa said “not at all. Cassy is family and besides here was once her home. She is welcome to stay as long as she wants.” The fake smile on her face refused to slip off. She’s always a master when it comes to playing cool.
“Okay, settled then.” I chipped in and sprang to my feet heading out.
“Tell the maids to get my luggages and see y'all later.” I announced at the doorway after I had brushed past Herman winking at him.
He should watch out; his worst nightmare had come to stay.
