CASSY'S POV…
“You would do as I said!” His voice thundered in my head sending chills down my spine. “You might be mated to me but I see you as nothing but just a low life wolf with no voice of her own and that's what you will be. You’ll satisfy me whenever and wherever I want.” The nagging voice of Herman continued in my head, cutting deep into my soul. “Do you understand me, b!tch.”
“Yes.” My tiny little voice had responded fearfully.
Taking a deep breath, I tried shoving the old memories at the back of my head as I pushed the door of my old room open. It felt like I had only been here yesterday. Nothing changed, only that it was kept clean. I wondered why though.
Herman wasn't a fan of me when I was here. He had hated me, the same reason my parents hated me. MY VERY EXISTENCE.
I have no idea what that had to do with me. Or maybe I do. Carissa was the favored one from the moon goddess. According to my parents; Carissa was supposed to be the only daughter and also destined to be Alpha Herman’s mate. I was just a spare they didn't need or want so when I got mated to him, both my parents and him got furious and concluded that I had taken what belonged to my sister. Not only was I mated to him, I was mute as well. Alpha Herman felt insulted for being mated to a mute wolf however he would not reject me but rather turned me into his s****l slave. He didn't stop at that, he made sure I toiled day and night. I was no better than the slave in the pack house. Torture was the only treatment I knew.
A single tear dropped from my eyes and I sniffed, chuckling sadly. Enough had been done to me.
I was just this naive little wolf seeking for acceptance in a place I was never wanted.
I wasn't always mute; I stopped speaking when I went unheard and gradually I forgot how to speak and automatically became mute. Funny, yeah? It was my story.
Taking a couple more breaths, I shook off the sad memories and walked in embracing myself for what memories left at the back of my mind to remember.
“For someone who left on her own accord, I wonder why she is back” The taunting voice of my sister came behind me.
I shrugged and looked around before turning to face her. “Maybe that someone has finally realized that running away is never the solution to a problem.” I mumbled coherently to myself, chuckling within me.
A brief glance on her Belly, my gaze was back on her face. “I'm going to be an aunt. How wonderful?!” I exclaimed and looked past her to see Herman watching me keenly. He just arrived and decided to hear the not-so happy conversation with my sister?
“I wouldn't want my child near you.” She spat out and advanced towards me with calculating steps. Glares flying left and right.
I hope she didn't think she would scare me like that? She hopefully didn't think I was still 5?
“And neither would I let you anyway near my husband.” She warned. I c****d my brows, “is that so?” I stepped away from her and turned my back to both her and Herman who she hadn't realized was just a few inches away from her. “I don't want your husband, not after everything that he did to me. He is just a guy who is in my past. I will try not to get acquainted with him while I'm here.” I stated and slowly turned to see disappointment written clearly on his face. “Right, Herman?!”
“Right.” He mumbled and moved two steps towards Carissa who looked surprised to see him. “I was dropping by to see how you're settling in.” He said and kissed Carissa on her lips. “I will leave you two to bond.” He added and briskly left with his shoulders sloppy like the weight of the whole world was deposited on his shoulders.
A brief silence passed between us before I asked, “do you want me to do something for you or…?”
She rolled her eyes, turning to leave but hesitated and looked back at me. “You might think you have grown or you're now this bold b!tch but the truth still remains that no matter how long time has passed, you're still the unwanted b!tch..” She laced out amusingly like she said the most sensible thing in the world. I gave no reaction as I wanted to know where she was heading to with the nonsense coming out from her mouth. “And if you want to confirm that, go and see if Dad and Mom will welcome you.”She finished with a smirk.
I chuckled and pointed towards the door, “If you're done talking sh!t, you leave my room.” It was an order and I gave no sh!t how she took it. She glared at me and finally left with scorn on her face.
Inhaling deeply, I threw myself on the bed.
“It's good to be back.” Audrae, my Wolf mumbled her first words since our arrival.
“It is.” I agreed and soon drifted to sleep.
*********
A light tap on my shoulders and my eyes fluttered open in confusion.
“Ma’am, Lunch is ready.” I heard and turned towards the sound of the voice. It was a lady in a maid uniform. I furrowed my eyes in confusion as I tried to understand when I employed a maid. It took about a few seconds for me to realize I wasn't back in my apartment in Gracehill. The realization came with a sense of purpose.
“You're finally awake?” My Wolf propped up, boredom lacing through her voice.
“Yeah.” I sighed and smiled at the maid, “alright, thank you.”
She left almost after bowing, the same time I slipped off the bed.
Getting to the dining hall, I found Carissa seated. And two empty seat set opposite her which I presumed to be mine and Herman’s
“You decided to come out?” She questioned flatly. “I had thought you died or something terrible happened to you in there.” She added with so much venom in her voice. “I had wished desperately for that.” She finished. For one bit, Carissa didn't hide how much she despised me.
“Believe me, I'm not going to die any time soon.” I chuckled and went straight to a seat.
I hadn't pulled the chair when I realized I was hitting the floor. Unfortunately I had stepped on something slimy and something told me it was put there purposely.
Embracing myself to hit the hard floor, I hit a hard chest instead, narrowing every one of my nerves. An unfamiliar scent hit my nostrils and my world went into a pause.
