A Wicked gift

Evelyns POV We walk down endless hallways, all of which are lit with candles. We don't meet a soul, but when we enter a large hall I know why. Because apparently all the people have gathered here. Sitting on a high throne across the room is a man who surprisingly resembles my buyer. From a distance I can't tell you exactly, of course, but both have jet black hair that falls down to their shoulders. Both are very tall and have a broad build. Besides, both seem kind of stiff. What I can't see from the other, however, is the nasty grin. “Brother,” my buyer begins to speak, “on this happy occasion I have brought you a very special present.” The way he speaks makes the hair stand on my arms. His voice sounds slimy and not like before. Without warning he pulls on the leash so that I am thrown forward. Unrestrained, especially because my arms are still tied, I fall with the face first onto the steps that we had already reached. Everything hurts and I moan quietly. Unfortunately, I can't just get up, and since I lack the will and the strength anyway, I just lie there. “What's that supposed to be Jaromir!” Scolds the man on the throne. So Jaromir seems to be his brother. Such an asshole, if I could, I'd rip his head off right here and now. “But Elias, I don't know what you're talking about?” Jaromir said innocently. “She is human,” clarifies the other. If they only knew. I wasn't human, I was a werewolf, but I wouldn't tell them that, never in my life. "Yes and? When she is washed, she might actually look like a girl and she could serve you for your pleasure and if you no longer want her, I could take care of her. " I feel sick and I feel the bile rising up inside me. "Is it really your intention to upset me that much ?!" The man's anger is so strong and all consuming, that it pushes me even further to the ground. “Otherwise she could also serve as a blood bank,” continues Jaromir unmoved. “Get out!” Yells the other and I wince. "If you don't want her, I'll take her back with me," asks Jaromir innocently. “Get out, I said! She stays here! " *** Elias' POV The anger that I've controlled so well so far is breaking out of me. How dare my brother insult me like that. He's always been a pig, but that he would go that far is really unbelievable. My disgust grows day by day, but with this he has overstepped the curve. The girl is still crouching on the floor, shaking and gasping for air. This girl who could mean my downfall even without her knowing it. Because what I noticed when he led her into the hall was how much she resembled her. The same brown hair, the same blue eyes and slim figure. Only the look was different. Louises eyes had always been full of joy and love, so full of hope and confidence that it melted my heart. But the girl's eyes here on the floor are empty and cold. As if she had already died inside. Her feelings are also marked by prolonged absence. At the beginning I felt disgust, hatred and sorrow only ever so slightly, but shortly afterwards it was gone again, as if she never felt anything at all. This girl raises so many questions in me. Why has she already given up? Why is she here and what happened to her? I breathe a sigh of relief as Jaromir leaves the hall, but not without turning back to me and showing me this triumphant smile. “The audience is over,” I say in a strong voice and everyone frantically leaves the hall. Only the girl is still lying exactly where Jaromir had thrown her. I get up slowly, what should I do with her now? My father would surely already know about her, so I couldn't just set her free, and besides, if I made her go, Jaromir would only feel like he had won. So I would have to keep her. I'll just treat her like any other slave. I go down the steps to her and carefully pull her to her feet. She stumbles a little, which is why I support her. Her arms are only skin and bones, and now that I take a closer look I can even make out her hips and ribs under the thin piece of cloth. What did she have to stand through to end up here? Her gaze is fixed on the floor, but I see her flinch from my touch. It always breaks my heart when I see so much fear. That's why I decide to show a little kindness, even if it may backfire on me later. I free her arms and loosen the collar around her neck. She has clear welts on the wrist and an even more distinct red mark on her neck where the collar was strangling her. She rubs both, obviously relieved, and yet I can't perceive anything from her, not a single feeling. “So that you don't die right away,” I say in a cold voice, “what's your name?” She does not answer and does not move in any other way. Inwardly I sighed and grabbed the leash. I've never kept a person on a leash and it wouldn't occur to me in my dreams either, but I have to play this reevaluated game whether I want to or not. In this world it is deadly to show kindness, it makes you weak and may give others the idea that they could take over, and I can´t let that happen, if Jaromir ever got to be the next King, this kingdom and all its people would be doomed, so I will play my role until I will be crowned King one day. I still don't really know what to do with her. For now, however, I'll put her in a cell until there's a free bed somewhere.
