Chapter 6: The Confession

The kiss was everything Maya had never expected.

It was soft and gentle, yet filled with a passion that made her knees weak. Kai's arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer, and she melted into him like she had been waiting her whole life for this moment.

When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless.

"Wow," Maya whispered.

"Yeah," Kai agreed, his voice husky. "Wow."

She looked into his silver eyes and saw something she had never seen before. Vulnerability. Hope. Love.

"I've been fighting this," she admitted. "Fighting the bond. Fighting my feelings. But I can't do it anymore. I can't pretend I don't feel this."

"Feel what?" Kai asked softly, his hand cupping her cheek.

"I feel..." she took a deep breath. "I feel like I'm falling in love with you."

A slow smile spread across Kai's face, one of pure, unguarded joy. "You have no idea how long I've waited to hear you say that."

"I was scared," she admitted. "Scared of losing myself. Scared of being controlled. But you were never trying to control me, were you?"

"No," he said firmly. "I was never trying to control you. I was trying to protect you. To earn your trust. To show you that being my mate doesn't mean losing yourself—it means finding someone who sees you, accepts you, and loves you for exactly who you are."

Maya felt tears prick at her eyes. "I'm sorry I made you wait so long."

"I would have waited forever," he said sincerely. "Because you're worth it."

She kissed him again, pouring all of her fear and doubt and love into the kiss.

When they finally pulled apart, Kai took her hand in his.

"Maya," he said, his voice serious. "I love you. I've loved you from the moment I first saw you. And I will spend the rest of my life proving that to you if I have to."

"I love you too," she whispered. "And I'm not running anymore."

Kai pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. "Together," he murmured. "Always together."

The next morning, Maya woke up in Kai's arms. She felt different. Lighter. Happier. Like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

Kai stirred beside her and smiled. "Good morning, my Luna."

"Good morning, my Alpha," she said, a smile spreading across her face.
