Chapter 3: Secrets Unveiled

382 Words
That night, unable to sleep, Emma wandered the halls of the Blackwood Inn. The old house was full of whispers and shadows, each creak of the floorboards a reminder of its long history. She found herself drawn to the attic, a place Alex had mentioned in passing but hadn't shown her. The door was slightly ajar, and Emma pushed it open, revealing a room filled with dust-covered antiques and old, forgotten relics. In the corner, she noticed a small, weathered chest. Curiosity piqued, she opened it to find an old journal, its leather cover worn and fragile. Flipping through the pages, Emma’s eyes widened as she read tales of werewolves and ancient curses, of battles fought under the light of the full moon. The journal detailed the history of Blackwood, its secrets intertwined with the supernatural. Her mind raced with questions: How much of this was true? What had she really stumbled into? The next day, she confronted Alex with the journal. "Alex, I found this in the attic. What is all this about werewolves and curses?" Alex’s expression hardened. "Where did you find that?" "In the attic," Emma said, her voice steady. "Is any of this true?" Alex sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Some of it, yes. Blackwood has a... unique history. But you shouldn’t be worrying about this. It’s just old stories." "Old stories that mention you and Liam," Emma countered. "What’s really going on, Alex?" Before Alex could respond, Liam entered the room. His eyes flicked to the journal in Emma’s hands, and he frowned. "You told her?" "She found it herself," Alex said. "She deserves to know." Liam sighed. "Emma, this isn’t something you should be involved in. It’s dangerous." Emma’s eyes narrowed. "I’m already involved. Just tell me the truth." The two boys exchanged a look before Alex finally spoke. "We are werewolves, Emma. The journal isn’t just stories; it’s our history." Emma’s breath caught. "Werewolves? You’re serious?" Liam nodded. "And there are others who aren’t as... friendly. We’ve been dealing with rogue werewolves for years." Emma felt her world tilt. The supernatural was real, and she was caught in the middle of it. "Why didn’t you tell me sooner?" "We wanted to protect you," Alex said. "But now you know, and that changes everything."
