TREASURE’S POINT OF VIEW

As we arrived at the café that is Dior talking about, he decided that he wanted to eat cake here so while we are waiting for our orders he told me that his boss is kind of problematic. While Dior is busy eating his cake he just told me that I just need to calm down no matter what will happen later. I kind of feel nervous right now because of his problematic boss but thank goodness I kind of know how to deal with them.

“By the way, how long have you been unemployed?” Dior asked me as he finished the slice of cake he ordered.

“Ah, I’ve been unemployed for a long time now,” I said and then took a sip on my drink first before flashing a smile on him.

“Really? How long?” He asked me which made me feel shy because geez! I am already 27 years old and I am still unemployed!

“I’ve been unemployed for three weeks now,” I answered in a low voice because I felt so embarrassed right now. I hope he won’t look at me like a delinquent because I try my best to look for a job but I just cannot find one! I lifted my head all of a sudden when I heard Dior laughed so hard which also catches the attention of some customers here in the café as well as the staff.

“HAHAHA! I am so sorry for laughing but, it is only been three weeks since you have been unemployed and you thought that was a very long time?” He said while laughing which made me more embarrassed. Geez! I cannot even defend myself because of the embarrassment I am feeling right now.

“Do you know how long I’ve been unemployed?” He asked me after he stopped laughing. Since my mouth cannot utter any word, I just shake my head at him as my response.

“Well, I’ve been unemployed for two years and a half! And I also think about myself as a useless adult! But thanks to my cousin, he helped me to get hired in my current work now.” He said while smiling at me and honestly, after hearing what he just said I kind of feel relieved.

“Whoa! That was a very long time of being unemployed.” I said and then he just nods at me before he stands up from his seat.

“Yeah, oh by the way we should head to the company now. The president might be there at this moment.” He said so I just nod at him before I stand up from my seat. As we head outside the café, we just continue talking about our past.

“Ahm, can I know what happened to your last job?” He asked me while we are walking on the street.

“Ah, well I decided to resigned there because I can’t take the abusive manner of my boss,” I said and then looked at him.

“You know you can sue a boss like that right?” He asked me so I just nod at him before giving my answer.

“Yeah, but I just came from a poor family so I know I can’t win the case if ever I sue him. So, I just resigned from that company and decided to find a new one.” I said while smiling.

“Ahm, if you don’t mind may I know what kind of abuse he’s doing to you?” He asked me which made me looked at him.

“Well he will make me work overtime but there is no extra payment for that. He also made me do works that aren’t in the scope of my job.” I said and then Dior suddenly stops on walking which made me stopped too.

“Is there something wrong? Why did we stop walking?” I asked him while looking at him.

“Nothing, I just want to tell you that we are already here.” He said while looking at the huge building in front of us. My jaw almost drops when I saw how huge and how luxurious this building is.

“Wait, this is Smith’s Group of Companies' main branch?” I asked him while we are crossing the road.

“Yup!” He said while smiling proudly at me. Geez! It looks truly nice to work here.

“By the way, it is so sad to hear about what happened to you on your last job but ahm, here we are Ms. Miller! Welcome to Smith’s Group of Companies main branch building!” He said while smiling at me which made me smiled too because the way he welcomes me was like he is so sure that I will get hired.

“Thank you, Dior!” I said while smiling at him. After that short welcoming thingy, Dior started to walk again so I immediately follow him. As we head inside the building, I can’t help but feel amazed at how beautiful and luxurious this building is.

“Wow! I knew that Smith’s Group of Companies is a high-end company but I didn’t know that it was like this!” I said while we are walking in the main lobby of this building.

“Yeah, I also didn’t have an idea that it is such a high-class company and your reaction was my reaction too, the moment I arrived here. By the way, we are almost near the HR Department so prepare yourself.” He said so I immediately get myself together and took a deep breath.

“This is the farthest I can come with you, but don’t worry I will be here and I will wait for you. Go and impress those people inside that door.” He said as we stopped in front of the HR Department’s office so I just nod at him while smiling. I took in a deep breath first before heading inside and as  I head inside the office I was quite disappointed because I thought there are a lot of people here and the surroundings would be so busy but I only saw three people and it is quite peaceful in this office. Despite the disappointment I felt, I don’t let it get the best of me.

“Good morning, I am Treasure Miller and I am here to apply for a job,” I said while smiling at them but they just looked at me with a confused look on their faces.

“Ahm, we assumed that you are the one that Dior was talking about? You don’t need to pass your resume here, you can go directly to the president itself because you are the only one applying for ‘that’ position.” One of them told me while emphasizing the word ‘that’ and I am so curious what ‘that’ means. Geez!

“Oh, but he told me to head here and pass my resume,” I said, and then I saw them that are smiling at each other which later on turns into laughter.

“I guess he pranks you, Ms. Miller. You don’t need to pass your resume here at HR Department but instead, pass it to the boss itself.” The one in the middle told me while giggling.

“Oh, is that so? Then I guess I got prank HAHAHA!” I said at them and they just nod at me at the same time.

“And I guess there’s no need for an interview because we are looking for someone for that job but no one is interested especially those employees who know what job is that and who are you working with.” The third one told me which made me more curious so I grabbed this chance to ask them what is that job.

“Can I know what job is it? And who I am working with?” I asked them

“Well, the job is to be the personal secretary of the president of this company itself and you are going to work with him.” The first one said which I find normal and not scary at all. Besides, to be the personal secretary of the president is a privilege right? Oh! And also the salary is surely high!

“It seems like there is nothing wrong with it but may I know why are they avoiding it?” I asked them again but this time they looked at each other’s first looking so hesitant to give the answer.

“You will find out. By the way, it is almost 8:00 am and you need to be in the president’s office at this moment.” The one in the middle told me so I immediately stand up from the chair and then bowed at them before leaving.

“Nice meeting you Ms. Miller, we are hoping to see you around.” The third one told me before I leave their office so I just waved my hand at them before I leave. As I head outside the HR Department I immediately searched for Dior so I can ask him to take me to the president’s office.

“Hey, how’s your interview?” Dior asked me when he suddenly popped up out of nowhere.

“They told me that the one who will interview me is the president itself and I need to be there before 8:00 am,” I said and then looked at my wristwatch and saw that it’s already 7:30 in the morning.

“Really? Then I guess I will take you there.” He said while smiling and he is obviously holding back his laughter. I just didn’t mind his prank because my whole mind is on the job’s description is and mostly about the president. While we are inside the elevator I can’t help but get nervous so I immediately get my inhaler from my bag because I can feel that my heartbeat is starting to beat extremely slow. I saw that Dior is looking at me while I was busy inhaling and exhaling but I just didn’t mind him and continue to fight for my consciousness because I can’t collapse right now! Thank goodness after a few more inhale and exhale with the help of my inhaler my heartbeat is quite stable right now.

“Ahm, so you have asthma?” He asked me after I put back my inhaler inside my bag.

“Nah. I have this heart disease called arrhythmia, whenever I feel negative emotions my heart is beating extremely slow and when I feel positive emotions my heart is beating extremely fast, and sometimes I experienced both which causes me to run out of breathing, and most of the time I collapse.” I said and then smiled at him.

“Woah! So you can’t be too happy nor too sad, in short, you can’t feel extreme emotions am I right?” He asked me so I nod at him before giving my answer.

“Yeah! And that sucks! Whenever I am excited I will surely collapse as well as whenever I cry. It just sucks to have such a condition.” I said and then gave him a faint smile.

“I guess you didn’t fit for this job.” He told me which made me looked at him with a surprised look on my face.

“Why?” I asked him and I can feel that there is this urge within me that wanted to cry because of the disappointment I felt when I heard what he just said.

“Because this job will cause you so much stress, and I don’t want your condition to get severe.” He said and I guess I kind of understand what they are saying earlier.

“What are you talking about?! It doesn’t make sense Dior. Can you just tell me straight to the point?” I asked him trying to control my emotions because I can feel that I am running out of breathing again.

“Our boss is such a perfectionist and all the paper works you need to give him needs to be beyond perfect. If you didn’t meet his expectation, he will point out your ‘mistakes’ even though it’s just fine and make you do the work all over again.” He said and it kind of eases the anxiety I am feeling right now.

“Don’t worry it won’t stress me, Dior. I can handle such things.” I said while smiling at him with full of assurance and right at the moment after saying that we reached the highest floor of this building and I was so shocked how weird this floor is. There is only one single door at the end of the hall on this floor and I guess that’s the president’s office.

“Well, I warned you Treasure. Don’t blame me if your condition gets worst because of that.” He said so I just smiled at him to give him assurance.

“I won’t ever do that Dior, besides I will always be thankful to you because of you I found a job. And besides, ever since I knew about this condition I accepted the fact that I will die at an early age because I never ever undergo any treatment.” I said while we are walking in the long corridor of this floor.

“Don’t say that Treasure.” He said so seriously so I just zipped my mouth until we reached the only door on this floor.

“Good luck Treasure! By the way, if the president will like you, your office will be that one.” He said while pointing at the other door on the left side which I didn’t notice earlier.

“Thanks, Dior!” I said and then hugged him so tight.

“I shall leave, just message me for updates okay?” He said so I just nod at him and then he waved at me before heading back to the elevator. The moment the elevator closed, I took a deep breath first before knocking on the door. After knocking three times, I just waited for someone to open it but it’s been a minute already and the door is still not opening which made decided to knock again but it suddenly opens and the guy who opened it found me like a cat charm in Chinese stores because my right hand is raised like that. I immediately put down my hand and smiled at him awkwardly.

“Good morning Sir! My name is Treasure Miller.” I said and then bowed at him and I was so surprised when he also bows at me so I thought, the president is not as bad as they told me he is.

“So you are Ms. Miller, the one Mr. Reid told us last night. By the way, you may come in, President Smith will be here any moment from now.” He said and then he smiled at me before heading inside the office and I immediately followed him. As we head inside the office, the amazement that I felt earlier after seeing the lobby of this company got doubled after seeing this office.

“Sit here Ms. Miller. While waiting for the president, do you want anything to eat?” He asked me while he is still smiling and honestly, his smile kind of eases my nervousness.

“Thank you so much for the offer Sir, but I am good,” I said while smiling at him so he just nods at me before walking towards the chair in front of mine.

“Then, can I check your resume now?” He asked me as he sits on the chair in front of me so I just nod at him before I handed over my resume to him.

“So your last job was also a secretary at Mercado’s Company. May I know what is the reason you left that company?” He asked me while reading my resume.

“The reason I leave my job there is because our head department is abusing me. He always gives me extra works and makes me work overtime without extra payment.” I said while smiling even though he isn’t looking at me.

“Oh. Then why didn’t you sue that head department?” He asked me the same thing Dior asked me earlier.

“It’s because I came from a poor family Sir and I didn’t have the budget to do that even though I badly want to my ex-manager,” I said and I almost jumped off on my seat when he suddenly puts down the folder of my resume on the table in front of me.

“You’re hired.” He said which made me looked at him with a surprise look on my face because I never knew that I would get hired this fast!

“Really Sir?” I asked him trying to restrain myself to get too much excited and then he just nods at me while smiling.

“Yeah! And if you like, you can start working now after your training.” He said

“Oh my goodness! I will start working now Sir.” I said while smiling at him. After I told him that, he stands up from his seat, and then he started to get a lot of folders from the shelter and then put it on the table. After getting a bunch of folders at the shelter I thought he was done when he moves to the next shelter behind him and gets another bunch of folders. While he is busy getting his all those stuff, I heard that the door opens and a gorgeous man enters the door. I was so captivated by how gorgeous this man is. His eyes were green as a leaf and his hair is black as charcoal. He also has a well-established body which makes him more attractive. It was like he is a prince that came straight from a fairytale book.

“Good morning President Smith.” I didn’t know that I am staring at this man for a long time and I wasn’t able to notice that this gorgeous man is already in front of me until the guy who was busy getting his folder greeted him. I immediately get myself together and then looked at this gorgeous man and greet him.

“Good morning President Smith.” I greeted him with a smile on my face but that smile automatically fades when he just passed by me and head straight to his table.

“Who is that girl over there?” He asked the guy that assisted me earlier.

“He is your new personal secretary President Smith. Her name is Treasure Miller and based on what I have read from her resume she is beyond capable for this job.” The guy said which made me smiled and proud of what he said.

“Really? But she almost drooled at me while looking at my face. Is this her first time seeing a man?” He said which made me feel embarrassed. Geez! I didn’t mean to creep him out!

“HAHAHA, maybe she’s just amazed how perfect you are Sir.” He said and I saw that this President Smith smiled at me arrogantly.

“You need to train her well including not to drool over a man. I didn’t want an employee like that in my company.” He said and then smirked at me. Geez! What’s with that attitude?! So full of himself, tsk!

“Yes Sir. I will train her well.” The assistant guy said and then bowed at the President before getting all the pile of folders from the table. I immediately head towards him to help him carry those folders.

“Thank you, Ms. Miller.” He said so I just smiled at him and then we started heading outside the room. Before we leave the room, I heard that President Smith speaks another sentence full of arrogance but I just ignored it. As we head outside the room, the assistant guy stops walking which also made me stopped walking and looked at him.

“Don’t mind him, Ms. Miller. President Fabian Smith is just so arrogant because at his young age he was hailed as the youngest CEO and youngest billionaire of all time and for 5 consecutive years no one was able to beat him.” He said which explains why that man is so full of himself and so arrogant!

“You will know more about him and about his negative characteristics and attitudes but I am also hoping that you will see the good in him.” He said while looking at me with those pleasing eyes before he started to walk again until we reached the door Dior pointed to earlier. The assistant guy opened the door for me and again I was so amazed at how beautifully constructed this room is.

“Welcome to your personal office, Ms. Miller. From this day onwards this will be your workplace.” The assistant guy said as he opened the door. We head inside this office together, and geez! I can’t believe that this is my office, my own personal office! This is so surreal!

“Wow! Is this truly my personal office?” I asked him as I put down the folders on the table and he just nods at me while smiling at me.

“Yeah!” He said and I wasn’t able to hide my happiness and my excitement while looking around the room.

“So, shall we start your training now?” The assistant guy asked me so I just nod at him like a little girl, and after that, he begins the orientation and the training.
