TREASURE’S POINT OF VIEW

“So what do you think about your office?” The assistant of the president asked me after our orientation and training.

“This is so beautiful Sir! Is this truly my office?” I asked him while my eyes are roaming around the room again for the second time.

“Yeah. And also if you want to customize the whole room you can do it.” He said which made me even happier because it was one of my dreams, to customize my own office.

“Really?” I asked him like a 7-year-old girl and he just nods at me.

“I’m sorry for not introducing myself to you Ms. Miller, by the way, my name is Wyatt Smith, President Smith’s little brother.” He said which surprised me a lot and made me automatically bowed at him to give him my respect.

“Oh my goodness! The pleasure is mine on meeting you Mr. Wyatt, thank you so much for accompanying me.” I said while I am still bowing at him and then later on I heard him laughed which made me looked at him while I am frowning.

“HAHAHA! I’m so sorry for laughing at you like this, but your reaction was just so priceless!” He said while wheezing. I just looked at him while laughing so hard and thank goodness after a few minutes of wheezing and laughing he finally stopped and regained his posture as if nothing happens. Geez! I can see the professionalism in him.

“So, let’s head back to the final phase of our orientation.” He said then head towards the table looking so serious and firm again. I never thought that I just saw this man cracked up earlier!

“As the secretary of the president himself, you have three roles in this company, the first one is to remind him about his schedule for the day and of course accompanying him whenever and whatever is that schedule is, whether it is a meeting or a party you must come with him. The second one and the most important out of your three roles is that you are responsible for making the whole company’s weekly, monthly, and annual report. That report includes the performance of every department we have and of course the performance of our company. The last one is to manage each and every department. You are responsible for checking if they are doing their job right and also you can do that by holding a meeting together with the department’s head. Do you have any questions?” He told me while walking in a circle in front of me and it kind of made me dizzy but I just didn’t mind it.

“Can I know how many departments we have?” I asked him that made him flick his finger at me.

“That’s a good question! We have 15 departments in total so it’s not that much as you think.” He said so I just nod at him agreeing to what he just said because I thought there are so many departments in this huge company.

“So, that’s it?” I asked him and he just nods at me.

“Yeah. By the way, I don’t need to teach you about the paper works because you can learn how to make it just by reading the past annual reports, and also I didn’t know how to do it because my older brother didn’t teach me to do so. And about the president’s schedule, you already have the copy of it on your desktop and for the clients’ meetings, you must console the president first before granting their schedule. Are we clear?” He asked me so I just nod at him while smiling.

“Yes Sir!” I said with full of energy and he just smiled at me. I thought we are already done because he started to walk away but he stopped halfway from the door and speaks.

“Lastly, please bear with my older brother. People see him as an arrogant CEO of his own company but deep inside he’s a nice and warm older brother and I hope you will be able to see and find it in him.” He said.

“Yes Sir, I will!” I said and then he just nods at me before he leaves completely leave the room.

“So, that’s it? I am hired?” I asked myself while I am still standing in the middle of this office. Whoa! I never thought it would be as easy as this! Geez! I just shake my head first and took a deep breath before heading towards my table.

“Ah! This is so surreal! I am hired!” I said as I sit down on my chair. While I am enjoying and savoring my comfortable chair, the telephone in this office suddenly rings which kind of surprised me but I was still able to answer it.

“Good morning this is Ms. Miller from Smith’s Group of Companies speaking,” I said as I answered the call with full of energy and with a full of smile.

“Not bad for a newbie but next time you don’t have to tell what is obvious, and that is telling the company’s name.” I almost dropped my phone when I heard the low voice of the president because I didn’t expect him to test me like this.

“Thank you so much for the compliment President Smith. I will surely take your advice to the next calls.” I said and then I heard him laughed from the other line but his laugh is full of sarcasm.

“I am not complimenting you, Ms. Miller, don’t get so full of yourself! By the way, you must have a meeting with the departments' heads today so they can already meet you. That’s all.” He said and then ended the call without giving me the chance to speak.

“Argh! What’s with that attitude? I am not getting full of myself! I just truly thought that he is complimenting me!” I said to myself after putting down the telephone. Geez! That guy will not only give me headaches and stress but also he can give me my early death! Geez! I immediately took a deep breath to help me calm down because the telephone rings again.

“Good morning this is Ms. Miller may I know your concern?” I said as I answered the call.

“Is this Smith’s Group of Companies?” A man from the other line asked me. See! Telling the company’s name is a must because some of them still need confirmation if they called the right one.

“Yes Sir, this is Smith’s Group of Companies. May I know your concern?” I asked him again with a full of smile even though he cannot see me.

“I am Mr. Johnny Brown from The Sequence Company and I called to have a lunch meeting with Mr. Smith.” He said.

“Can you give me a minute  Mr. Brown I just need to console this to the president itself before confirming your schedule?” I said.

“Of course, of course.” He said

“Then would you mind if I put your call on hold first?” I asked him before putting his call on hold.

“Yeah, I wouldn’t mind.” He said so I immediately put his call on hold and dials President Smith’s telephone number.

“Why did you call?” He asked me as he answered the call. Geez! He truly has an attitude problem! I just shake my head and neglect his response and moved on to asking him about Mr. Brown.

“Good morning Mr. Smith, a named Mr. Johnny Brown is asking if he can have a lunch meeting with you?” I asked him and then I remember I forgot to ask Mr. Brown when will be the lunch meeting is. Geez! Nice one Treasure!

“When is that?” He asked me which made me quiet for a minute while thinking how I can escape this.

“He told me that it is up to you Mr. Smith,” I said to him as an excuse. I am so sorry Mr. Brown if ever he wouldn’t approve your request.

“Then tell him to give me an exact date! He knew my protocol geez!” Mr. Smith shouted at me which made me closed my eyes truly tight and I didn’t notice that he already ended the call, so the moment I regained myself back, I immediately un-hold Mr. Brown’s call.

“Thank you so much for your patience, Mr. Brown. May I know when is that lunch meeting?” I asked him.

“You can tell him that he can decide on the schedule.” He said

“I am so sorry Mr. Brown but according to the company’s protocol you should be the one to decided when do you want your meeting to be held,” I said

“Oh is that so? Then can you ask him if he can meet me this incoming Friday?” He asked me.

“I will going to ask him now Mr. Brown can you give me another minute again?” I asked him

“Yes, go on.” He said so I put him on hold again and then dials Mr. Smith’s telephone number.

“Good morning Mr. Smith me again, Mr. Brown told me to if you are free this incoming Friday?” I asked him.

“Yes, and can you tell him the next time he will ask for a meeting tell his schedule immediately because you are wasting my time for calling me a lot of times!” He said with full of madness in his voice and then he ended the call without giving me the time to speak. He truly has an anger issue! I just shake my head before un-holding Mr. Brown’s call.

“So, what did Mr. Smith said?” He asked me as I un-hold his call.

“Good news Mr. Brown, he approved your schedule. I will immediately put you on his schedule this coming Friday.” I said while smiling even though he can’t see me.

“That’s good to hear. Thank you, Ms. Miller!” He said which made me smiled because he

“You are always welcome Mr. Brown,” I said and then waited for him to put down the call before putting down the telephone. After that call with Mr. Brown, I immediately put him on President Smith’s schedule for this week.

“Oh, he has a lunch meeting with Mr. Gray today?” I said to myself as I saw his schedule so after putting Mr. Brown’s schedule, I immediately head towards his office to inform him about his meeting for this day.

“Good morning President Smith.” I greeted him with a full smile on my face as I head inside his office.

“What are you doing here?” He asked me while his eyes were fixated on his laptop’s screen.

“Ah, I am here to remind you about your lunch meeting with Mr. Gray today at The Greenery Restaurant,” I said which made him stopped on working and it seems that he forgets about it based on his reaction.

“I almost forgot about that. Thank you for reminding me, by the way, you don’t need to come with me to this meeting. Just go meet the departments’ heads first.” He said and then head back on typing again.

“Okay Sir, have a safe trip on your way to your meeting,” I said and then bowed at him before leaving his office.

“If you can just be nice to everyone, a lot of women will like you,” I said to myself while walking back into my office. Honestly, Mr. Smith is gorgeous no question when it comes to that but geez, his attitude is just so unexplainable and it is just such a major turn-off. I almost jumped off on my feet when I heard President Smith’s voice from my back which made my body automatically froze. Geez!

“Why would I need to do that? So a lot of people can abuse me?” Mr. Smith said with a hint of an annoyed sound in his voice. I slowly turned around to him and smiled at him awkwardly because I didn’t know what should I say just to defend myself.

“I don’t care about what will people think about me and I also don’t give a damn if everyone hates me. I don’t need to change myself so I can be accepted by society. This is me and this is how should I be!” He said and then walk pass by me but before he continues walking he stopped for a while and speaks.

“I just thought about thanking you sincerely, since you reminded me about an important meeting. But after hearing what you just said, never mind. Such an insult!” He said and then continue on walking. It took me a whole minute to regained myself back and finally I was able to tell what’s in my mind.

“It is not what you think President Smith. I didn’t mean to insult you! I am so sorry!” I said but he didn’t even look back nor react. Geez! I never meant to insult him nor mean anything bad at that. Argh! I just shake my head off of that thought before heading back to my office to call the departments’ heads and inform them about our meeting.

“Yes, after lunch indeed,” I said to the last head over the phone.

“Okay, Ms. Miller.” He said so I ended the call and then massaged the temple of my head. I also get my inhaler from my bag because I kind of having difficulty breathing due to stress and over-thinking. After calming myself down and eating my lunch, the meetings with the heads are my next task. The president told me that I just need to introduce myself to them, so that’s what I am going to do, and most importantly is that I must create a light environment with them and a good connection so we can work together in a way we should be. After almost an hour of waiting for them, I finally heard a knock from my office’s door so I took a deep breath first before heading towards the door to greet them.

“Good afternoon Ms. Miller.” A man greeted me as I opened the door for him.

“Good afternoon too, may I know what department were you from? And of course your name.” I said while smiling at him.

“I am Jun Scott from the Department of Production A. It was so nice to finally meet you, Ms. Miller.” He said and then shakes my hand.

“Nice meeting you too Mr. Scott,” I said while smiling at him.

“Ahm, you should head inside first while I am waiting for the other heads,” I said and then he just nods at me and bowed before heading inside my office. As Mr. Scott enters the office, I saw a woman walking towards here and I am assuming that she is also one of the departments’ heads.

“Good afternoon Ms. Miller, I am Naomi from the Department of Research and Development B.,” She said while smiling at me and honestly she has a pleasing personality, and she kind of radiates positive energy.

“Good afternoon too, Ms. Naomi. By the way, you can head inside the office first while I am waiting for the other departments’ heads. Mr. Scott is already there.” I said and then she just nods at me before heading inside the office. After Ms. Naomi head inside my office, the other departments’ heads start to come here continuously so I just waited for them for a few minutes to get them complete.

“By the way, I called you for a meeting today because I want you to meet you all personally,” I said while I am walking towards my table.

“So, let’s start this over my name is Treasure Miller and you can just call me Ms. Miller or Ms. Treasure or you can remove the formality because I believe that it can help us to get closer and create a positive atmosphere and light working environment for us. I also want us to have a good relationship so we will be able to communicate in a good way. Do you guys agree with me?” I said while smiling at them and thank goodness it kind of help them to remove the stiffness of their body.

“Yes Ms. Miller!” They all answer together which made me smiled. After that I just continue on talking and creating the light atmosphere I desire and it looks like it’s working because just by looking at their faces it looks like they are starting to get relaxed and calm towards me. After our short meeting, I am so happy because most of them kind asked for my socials as well as my LINE account. This is a good start for us!
