“OK! But remember this day. I've already regretted what I’ve done in the past and confessed my love for you. Yet you chose to ignore me, I’ll never give up” Liam said and walked away.

Fall Of No.1 Magazine
It was almost 10:00 p.m. “President, someone at the door wants to see you.” Stanley Victor, personal assistant of Chloe, brought a cup of coffee and informed Chloe. “I don’t want to see anyone now! I don’t even have enough time to finish my work, so push it.” Chloe was starting to nod off. She still had so many items on hand, which was making Chloe irritable. She only wished to complete her task earlier so that she could head back and get some beauty rest. Stanley gave her a perplexed look as he observed her. There was a knock at the door just as Stanley was ready to speak. Chloe was annoyed and wanted to know who was so dim to request a meeting so late at night. Once she looked up, an unexpected man stood in front of her. He was well-dressed, tall, and elegant with a faint warm smile at the corner of his lips as if he could melt an iceberg. His calm and gentle demeanour exuded a detached nobility. His eyes were red and tired, and yet he looked at her with gentleness. “You don’t even want to see me?” The man opened his mouth. His voice was warm and clear, and the familiar feeling returned in an instant. Chloe had to admit that she missed him terribly. These days, they had only been in touch by phone, but they were both busy, so they only said a few words before they hung up each time. Due to the time difference, someone would every now and then fall asleep while talking due to exhaustion. It was as if they hadn't seen each other in a century. Although they usually said little and held their feelings for each other to themselves, they couldn't help but feel closer. However, none of them had ever cited the inconvenience of a long-distance relationship. Chloe’s eyes brightened up slightly. On the side, Stanley pursed his lips. He cleared his throat and gave Chloe a careful look. “Do you want to see him, President?” He asked even though he already knew the answer. Stanley wanted to tease Chloe, but he dared not go too far. When he heard that George Bancroft had arrived at the lobby, he let George up without hesitation. It was just that when Stanley came over to ask, George happened to overhear their conversation, which resulted in this awkward situation. Chloe sighed and rolled her eyes. “Well, he’s already here, so how can we still kick him out?” Her voice was becoming hoarse and low. “After all, Mr. Bancroft is an important company partner!” Stanley stifled a laugh. He hadn’t expected Chloe to be such a natural at finding excuses for herself. She was truly remarkable! “Okay, then you guys talk. Call me if you need anything,” Stanley wisely retreated after saying this. George gave a slight nod. He then moved forward as Stanley carefully closed the door behind him. George sighed. His gentle gaze was filled with a tenderness like moonlight. He slightly opened his arms. As soon as she went over, Chloe could no longer resist and pounced on him. His warm, refreshing scent put her at ease. She embraced him tightly. She hadn’t seen him in over a month, and she missed him terribly. Chloe had questioned whether she was still as restrained and rational as she had been at the start of their relationship. It was clear that she wasn’t. Chloe at first wanted George to retreat by himself when things became more difficult in an effort to compel her ex-husband, Liam Wulfric, to give her up. Later, however, she was the one who fell deeper in love with George. After a while, George stroked her hair gently. Chloe could hear his deep laugh coming from his chest. “Are you done hugging?” Chloe's body stiffened, and she let go of him instantly. ‘This man is so out of it!’ Chloe thought, ‘I missed him terribly, but he doesn’t seem to miss me at all! Men are certainly duplicitous!’ She was incensed and about to speak up to regain her self-esteem when George abruptly lowered his head. George cupped her face. His gaze was dark and deep, like the night sky filled with stars. “I’d like to kiss you.” ‘Once you've finished hugging me, I’ll start kissing you. Perhaps I can bed you today.’ George mulled. George didn’t even wait for Chloe to respond before continuing, “Chloe, I can’t hold back my desire for you any longer. So, could you please?” He mentioned at the beginning of their relationship that he would wait until she was ready, so she feels at ease in this relationship. This statement hit Chloe like a hammer in the head. For a brief moment, she felt dizzy. Her expression changed countless times. She pondered how George’s thoughts could change so fast. How was she going to reply? Her mind raced through a thousand thoughts in a matter of seconds. George hadn't had more than casual intimacy with her since they first started dating. Their relationship was platonic. Chloe was fully aware that if she didn’t turn down his request right away, things would spiral out of control. They had been dating for almost a year, and Chloe was no longer averse to being intimate with George. She wouldn’t oppose it if they had s*x right off the bat. It was just that, none of them had revealed to each other that they would suffer severe migraines every time they attempted something more intimate than a causal relationship. Chloe, on the other hand, couldn’t bear the thought of disappointing George. She closed her eyes, and for a brief moment George lingered, bowing his head and getting closer to her pink lips. His warm lips did not, however, flutter. Eventually, he retreated. When Chloe opened her eyes, she was horrified to see George slouching onto the couch and holding his head. She was about to contact Stanley since he had been unable to stand the pain and was twitching all over when he stopped her. “I’m fine, it’s all right. Chloe, I guess I now need some time to adjust.” Chloe nodded and breathed silently in relief. George gave her a wicked stare when he spotted that she was sighing and engrossed in her own thoughts, then he swiftly covered it up. ‘You’ll soon go through hell, Chloe,’ he said to himself. She was intending to ask Stanley for coffee, but he came rushing into her office with a frosty forehead. “President! Mr. Bancroft! Something big happened!” Stanley went without taking a breath. He was trying to regain his breath after speaking. “First calm down and then explain everything.” George calmly asked him, but he was plagued by a horrible feeling. “Pixy Magazine announced its bankruptcy!” By revealing the downfall of No. 1 magazine, Stanley dropped the bomb, stunning everyone.
