A few moments had passed, Jyu was in his chair facing the open window, he was reading the diary his mother had given him tightly. The book was quite thin but all the pages were neatly written.
Page after page was read, telling the story of how Jyu's mother's journey crawled from an ordinary human to an Awakened. From the diary too, Jyu learnt of the first contact with the creatures from the Rift which his mother as a first generation Awakened had to struggle with and think, "Are they friend or foe."
And from there, Jyu learnt about his father.

It's been about three months since the world turned into this, I can't imagine how many thousands of lives have been lost, as someone who got this new power, I should be able to protect those who are helpless.
But who will protect me if I am in danger?
Useless thinking, I should be able to survive on my own.

These days I often face death, fortunately I always fight these monsters together with others. We all came up with the name for this group, Awakeners, with me as one of the core members.
I don't know what they're thinking, but there's talk of creating an organisation that guards the world with people with powers as its backbone.
Whatever it is, I'm just focusing on my goal of survival.

We had our first Awakeners meeting, and the topic was "Whether we should go around the world or stay here".
Honestly, I don't really care about anything, as long as I can live, but I haven't seen my father in a long time.
Hmm—Maybe, it wouldn't be bad to follow them.

One year has passed, and I rarely write in this diary anymore because I'm busy with my group. We got the nickname 'People's Hero', because we are constantly looking for cities and even countries that needed help.
Oh yes, during our travels we also look for new members who have the same powers and are interested in joining. There is one person who caught my attention, he seems unique compared to other men.

I was left by him.
When I was pregnant with his child.
He never came back home.
Where is he? Where is he? Where is he? Where is he? Where is he? Where is he? Where is he? Where is he? Where is he? Where is he? Where is he? Where is he?

My son, Jyu. Was born.
Father, I'm sorry, but please take care of Jyu. Don't let him become like his father.
My son, please forgive your mother.

Dusk was setting, darkness was falling, a cold chill came to accompany it, the lights turned on simultaneously signalling that it was night time.
The room was dark, only the light from the moon shone through the wide open window, he was still sitting, holding the diary tightly, shedding tear after tear but his face showed immense anger.
One word came to mind, " Mother" he muttered, clenching his hands as tightly as he could. "Haa. Calm down."
"A lot of writings were erased from her diary, I don't know why but my gut feeling says that it has something to do with that person," he thought.
A moment later there was a bell ringing from the door of his room, the bell was rung once and someone spoke behind the door, "Jyu, it's me" he immediately replied, "Oh, wait Yuna!"
He closed the window and switched on the room lights, after all that he rushed to open the door to greet Yuna, "Hello."
"Ah, I just wanted to tell you this, tomorrow morning we'll be training again at the same place- Are you okay?", she asked noticing Jyu's different face.
Just realising his expression, Jyu immediately shook his head and said, "It's fine. So, what time tomorrow?" asked Jyu.
"Tomorrow we start at 6. Don't be late, because we want to practice new things again," Yuna explained.
"Okay, I'll try not to be late," he replied. Yuna just nodded to Jyu's reply, because she didn't want to dig deeper into the problems she was facing. They were in a slightly awkward situation and just stared at each other, until finally, Yuna said, "Jyu, you can talk to me if you have any problems, I'm also your personal assistant."
Jyu just smiled, and said, "Good night, Yuna." As he closed the door to his room.
Unable to continue their conversation, Yuna left the door. She walked down the hallway that was starting to become deserted of
frequent users, thinking to herself, "What's wrong with him. Hah- Well, I can't force him to open up."
The soft footsteps in the deserted hallway, just as Yuna walking down the place, she passed through various intersections, turns and straights, walking until her footsteps stopped in front of the elevator that was waiting on the floor. After entering, she pressed the top button of all the button options, and the lift doors closed.
Inside the elevator, there was a song playing, a classical jazz with a smooth humming feel. It didn't take long to get to her destination floor, when the lift doors opened Yuna immediately got out.
The place was spacious, the translucent glass arrangement captured the sparkling city lights full of night activities, at the end of the room there was a table and chair overlooking the city view. From behind the chair, a voice appeared, "How's your job?"
The voice was heavy and tense, but the tone was familiar.
"It's done, sir."
"And, Jyu?" the figure continued to ask.
"He's resting now," Yuna replied.
"Hm. Tomorrow, can you take him to the rift?" the question was posed to Yuna again.
She made a doubtful face, but she sighed and answered, "Yes, maybe after the mock battle, from there he should be able to use his powers."
"Okay, I entrusted this to you because of your achievements. Don't let me down," said the figure behind the chair.
Yuna simply bowed respectfully to the figure and turned back the way she came.
