Maxine After wasting too much time in the bathroom because the weird shower was too good, I finally got out and started dressing for school. I plugged in my hair dryer and dried my damp here before wearing my shoes. As soon as I was done, I stuffed my things back into the tote and walked out of the room. “Mom?” I called, puzzled as to why my mom was about to have breakfast with our neighbors when she’s supposed to be sleeping. “Max, you look beautiful this morning,” she said sarcastically as if she was intentionally trying to ridicule me.
