The next day, I stayed inside my room. I did not want to leave the safety of the four walls that surrounded me. I did not feel like going out into the castle where everyone looked at me with cold eyes. Most of all, I did not feel like seeing the people I was supposed to call my brothers.
In this house, the walls felt much safer than the people. The stone walls did not look at me with suspicion. They did not whisper mean things about me when I walked by. They did not choose someone else over me every single time. I sat on the edge of my bed and stared at the door. I was staring at nothing, really. I just felt empty.
