(Lucas’ POV)
After lunch, Sarah buzzed me and said, “Call for you on line two, boss. Mr Manning. He says you’re expecting his call.” I smiled at the information. Duke was never one to keep any of us waiting. When we needed something, he was always right there.
“Thank you, Sarah. Please hold all calls while I take this.” I said as I reached for the phone. “You got it, boss.” She answered as she cut the intercom and I lifted the phone receiver. “Duke! How are yah, dude?” I asked in greeting, a big smile on my face.
It had been a hot minute since we’d spoken, so it was genuinely good to hear his voice. “I’m good, man. How are you? Heard you got yourself into some trouble?” He chuckled, and I rolled my eyes as I said, “No. But they sure as h*ll did.”
