Parasites and Plague
The day started out as usual, with their human handler shouting profanities at them, the group of Vampires were all already awake, most of them were already dressed and the rest were just finishing putting on their clothes. The sun hadn't even risen yet outside and life in the army camp was almost non existent. "WAKE UP YOU MAGGOTS!!" A Human yelled as he burst into the tent. 20 or so pairs of eyes turned to look at him, the Human shifted under the near predatory gaze of the Vampires. "GET YOUR ASSES OUT OF THE TENT YOU PARASITES!" the human yelled before hurriedly leaving the tent. The Vampires growled at the use of the word, that to them, was not only insulting but also incredibly offensive. Most tried not to let it get to them while others just hated the Human that had made it a habit to call them that every day, several Vampires took personal offence to it and did what they could to ruin the lives of the Humans that called them that. The Vampires started making their way out of the tent to join everyone for morning training, a few hung back to finish lacing up their combat boots. One of the younger Vampires, a spicy redhead with enough spirit to fill a graveyard, huffed at the humans words and instead of heading out of the tent, instead went back to his cot and sat down. One of the older vampires of the group came over to sit next to him. "Zeran, i know that Humans can be assholes but you shouldn't take what they say to heart. They call us names here to toughen us up." The older vampire explained, trying to give comfort to the younger boy. Zeran hissed softly in frustration. "They treat us like we're beneath them... they arnet even treating us like soldiers, you've seen the other Humans training compared to them ours is a joke, they dont even teach us to handle weapons or to check for bombs." The redhead huffed and crossed his arms. "I bet I could stay in here all day and the Humans wouldnt even notice." Zeran hummed softly as he suddenly got an idea. the older vampire sighed heavily, out of habit going to brush a lock of hair behind his ear only to suddenly remember that his normally long black hair was now cut short in true military style. "Zeran, i dont think you should skip practice, we're incredibly lucky that we were able to enlist and be here, we all fought hard to be able to be here, if you get caught missing training all of us will be punished. They might even make it a reason why we should all be thrown out of the military." The older vampire looked worriedly at the young male. "I wont be caught Dekosa" Zeran rolled his eyes at the older male as he got to his feet. "I wont be here for them to find, im going to go find my own place to train, i can train myself in secret and spy on the humans while they train! ill be able to really learn something! and i can finally do something to help win this war!!"Zeran spoke excitedly, getting to his knees in front of his bed the young vampire started shoving things into a travel pack. "if i leave now i can find shelter before the sun comes up" When Zeran first started talking Dekosa had tried to quietly get him to stop talking, when that didnt work the older vampire clapped his hand over Zeran's mouth and spoke quietly as he caught the younger males eyes and put a finger to his lips, silently telling him to be quiet before speaking to the male in their traditional language, it was extremely hard for humans to understand, even if they already knew how to speak the Vampire language. "Unless you want every Human trying to listen in on your plans to train i suggest you either speak quietly or use Tantoosa." Clearing his throat the older Vampire spoke again, this time in English. "Well Zeran, i best head out, i hope you get better soon, it must suck having the Plague, ill see if the humans have any medicine for it once im done with todays training." Winking heavily at the redhead, Dekosa headed towards the entrance to the tent. "make sure you get some rest okay, and dont wander off with a hallucination, wouldn't want any vulnerable humans to catch the Plague from you." Dekosa paused at the door. Listening to the sound of several pairs of feet scuffing the ground as a few people ran off away from the tent. Zeran dutifully pulled a blanket over his body, hiding his clothes and pretending to sleep as the older vampire left the tent. Zeran stayed in his cot for about half an hour, pretending to sleep just in case anyone came by. when no one did Zeran left his bed and grabbed his full pack, leaving out of the back of the tent, using a burst of speed to move through the camp to the sand dunes that surrounded them on all sides. taking a seat on the other side of the desert sand dune the young Vampire put on a pair of gloves and set about putting on the hat and scarf that he had... borrowed... from one of the human soldiers. They would protect his face from the sun when it came up, as long as he found a shaded spot he would be fine for the rest of the day, he already had a place in mind for training, he had seen it when he was first brought out to the desert camp. Making sure he was out of sight the young male bolted down the dune, his boots sinking into the sand as he ran. it took Zeran about a half hour to get to where he wanted to go, he had gotten lost once or twice but nothing a map couldn't fix. Dropping his pack in the shade of a pillar Zeran looked at the ruins around him, they were littered with greenery and vines, some grass poked through the sand as well, there wasnt much shade, but there was enough to hide a careful vampire from the harmful sun for a few hours. Taking off the rest of his protective clothing Zeran simply enjoyed the cool feeling of the shade, leaving just his pants and shirt on the young Vampire decided to check out the rest of the ruins and the small spring. Zeran hummed softly to himself as he approached the small grove of trees at the center of the ruins, the closer he got to the trees the more grass there was at his feet, the more green and shade there was, it brought a smile to the redheads face, it reminded him of home... Making his way around a tree to the center of the spring the male stopped cold as he came into view of the pond at the center of the small oasis, there were three tents scattered around the pond, in the pond itself was a tanned boy, his long black hair braided and tied into a ponytail, other then a necklace the boy wasnt wearing a single thing, and he was staring right at Zeran.
