Friendly fire

Peeking over the edge of a sand dune, Zeran held his breath, his eyes taking in everything they could. He had been watching the ruins for almost an hour now, so far there was no movement, no sign of life... but still something felt wrong. Time passed slowly, minuets ticking by as more light slowly crept into the desert sky, it was only a few hours till sunrise but still Zeran didn't move. The bad feeling had yet to leave him and Zeran knew better then to go against his instincts, so there he waited, laying in the sand and occasionally peeking his head up just over the sand dune so he could look around. His bad feeling proved to be correct when some movement caught his attention, pressing his body down against the sand he watched as a group of three moved among the ruins, talking among each other and laughing at something. Even with his enhanced hearing Zeran couldn't quite make out what the three people were saying, their words were unfamiliar to him but something about them tugged at his brain, he had heard the language before but couldn't place it. As the small group moved past the ruins and disappeared over a sand dune Zeran's bad feeling vanished. Knowing the group could be back any minuet the young Vampire rushed down to the ruins below, quickly searching the area for his backpack, and then checking it over again when he couldn't find it. "oh f**k me." the redhead growled in frustration, quickly checking over the rest of the ruins hoping, praying, that he had simply misjudged where he had left his bag. There was again, no trace of it. Which meant only one thing; someone had found it and they had taken it. Sighing heavily Zeran looked towards the small oasis currently hidden by thick greenery and old ruins. This was not going to be easy. Zeran took a breath, using a mental exercise to calm down his racing heart, yes, believe it or not he actually had one. 'first beat' He closed his eyes and took a small breath ‘second beat’ he held his breath for a moment before letting it out slowly 'third beat' Zeran opened his eyes, his heart rate now much slower and closer to normal. He raised himself from the sand, his bare feet making his trek into the heart of the ruins a bit slow… it had nothing to do with the fact he was pretty much walking right into an enemy camp… nothing at all. The camp looked completely empty… empty except for the two giants beside the small spring, both had white horns and were about 10-11 feet tall, their skin was covered in thick scales and one of them had a long tail. The biggest one was the one with the tail, he had golden skin and oddly enough a giant mess of purple hair though that might have just been the light, it went all the way down to his lower back and was quite shaggy. The slightly smaller creature was covered in pitch black scales, his hair was much shorter than the gold giant and it was a bright bloody red, like the color of fresh blood, it didn’t look too different from the vampires own hair. The two giants were creatures Zeran had only heard of, his people tended to stay away from their kind because they usually brought a carried ton of trouble with them and they were on the Angels bad side. Getting constantly harassed by angels was not fun, even when you weren’t a Demon. The two Demons Zeran was watching were currently arguing loudly, the golden one was rather tangled in a metal net of some sort, he didn’t seem to really be bothered by this but the smaller black one was pissed off at him and was currently yelling at him. "I cant BELIVE you. You had one job! You were supposed to get here without being seen, without being attacked and what do you do? You fly right into a trap and you don’t even stop when you were caught in a razor net. A RAZOR NET!! YOUR WINGS COULD HAVE BEEN SHREDDED!!” The black Demon growled as he pulled on a part of the net over the golden Demons chest and one of the thousands of thin metal chain links snapped, loosening the chain around the largest Demon. The gold Demon watched the other with a soft smile, "Ali, look at me im fine. My scales are too hard to get cut by this stuff, yours would be too if you weren't so stubborn." He reached out with a freed hand and stroked the others cheek, the hand was slapped away and the black demon, Ali, started scolding him again. Forcing himself to tear his eyes off the two giant Demons the young Vampire searched the camp for his backpack, praying that whoever had taken it hadn't looked inside yet. He slowly moved towards one of the tents that was closest to the trees he was hiding in, once there he bolted behind the canvas, holding his breath as his heart beat soared, adrenaline pumping through his veins and making his body work overtime to try to handle it all. He had to get this right, if he didn't get his stuff back the coven and all the Humans at the base would be put in danger, Zeran might of been a fairly young Vampire but he wasn't stupid, if any of this was traced back to him Vampires all over the world would suffer for it and the basic rights they were working so hard to attain would be completely dismissed and theyd have to go back into hiding. Possibly forever. Taking a deep breath Zeran gathered his thoughts and came up with a split second plan that was kinda crazy but it also would probably work. It was also incredibly simple. Step 1 grab backpack Step 2 Run like hell Zeran closed his eyes for a second, pulling all the nervous energy inside him into his core, his heart pounded and his inner magic purred. That's when he bolted. Snatching his backpack the world around him seemed to slow down as Zeran used his inner magic to kick in his enhanced speed, the Vampire blasted past the two Demons making a beeline for camp and kicking up a large amount of sand. He didn't stop to check if the Demons were chasing him, unfortunately he had very little time left to make it back to the camp, the sun hadnt rose yet but it was light enough for him to be seen. Zeran was almost at the camp when he started to slow down, he nixed that idea instantly however when a rain of bullets blew up the dirt infront of him, Zeran switched direction and bolted back as the bullets chased, him, he yelled at the Humans to stop but they didnt seem to hear him. The Vampire could feel the slowly brightening light starting to warm his skin, he had to hurry before the sun rose fully and he was burnt to a crisp, he had already screwed up with getting to the camp, he couldnt be so stupid again
