The whole trip made me baffled. Why can't I sense this man? Is he someone I should trust?
Naturally, werewolves can sense fellow werewolves, including vampires, and humans. If he doesn't lie amongst these three categories, then is he a different creature?
I shook my head and turned my eyes to the window of the car. I gazed outside and saw wonderful and colorful maple trees across the clean streets. The fresh breeze of frigid air entered my system. We are heading to the royal castle via this shortcut, which only nobles are allowed to take. This pulchritudinous place is called “Forever Autumn”. No matter what the season is; spring, winter, or summer, this specific area will always remain Autumn—filled with maple trees and falling leaves.
Subconsciously, I fell asleep with deep thoughts running inside my head. Will I really live a good life? Is this the right decision?
...
"Wake up, eagle."
I heard a male's deep voice gently speaking at me, I assume, making me wake up from the nap I had. As I opened my eyes, I saw the Chauffer. His deep dark pupil grew wider as we made eye contact once again.
I roamed my eyes and realized that we had finally arrived at the royal land. Just a few steps from here is the royal castle.
My eyes went back to Kieran. He was bending over to me as both his hands were pushing against the headrests of this vehicle.
"Eagle?" I half-awake muttered. "What does that mean? Do I look like a bird?"
He flashed a grin, another grin that made his almond black eyes smaller and his dimples run deep on both sides of his lower cheek. His small nose twitched as he smiled. After that, he let out a tiny chortle.
"Aquilla, also termed aquilae, is the Latin for eagle," he replied. His voice is more gentle than it was a while ago. Momentarily, he whistled, acting as if he was summoning an eagle.
I nodded my head and smiled a bit. "You already have a nickname for me, huh?" I mumbled as I flushed.
I don't usually get nicknames from anyone—even from my family. Everlee sometimes called me names, but those names were despicable. It kind of feels very flattering to have someone make a nickname for you. But honestly, a nickname coming from a stranger I don't even know is somehow terrifying. Not to deny that I couldn't sense his identity.
"Yeah. It's just that I thought giving you a nickname was better than calling you your—"
"PEOPLE!" Kieran and I both turned our heads toward Madame Butterfly's loud and grumpy voice outside. "WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO DO? WAIT FOR SUNDOWN TO GET OUT OF THAT CAR?!"
I raised my body and pushed Kieran out of the way. I heard him grunt, but that doesn't matter anymore. I don't want to act shamelessly in this place filled with high-class werewolves and people. If I make a mistake, the whole Omega clan will also be ashamed.
"Having too much fun, eh?" Madame Butterfly mumbled to me as I stood beside her. I just pressed my lips together.
We walked through the green grass and flower-filled meadows. The land here is endless! Set your eyes on the farthest they can reach. If you stood in that place where your eyes landed, you will never find your way back.
The royal castle was still the same the last time I went there. It was during the auction.
I looked at Kieran who was walking beside me. I didn't even notice him catching up. I shouldn't be this slow-witted! Why is he so discreet?
"You tired? I can carry you on our way there—"
"Shh. Keep it down. If Madame Butterfly hears us—"
"SHUT UP, PEOPLE!"
That's what I was just talking about.
"You shouldn't make unnecessary talk, especially when we're walking in a place filled with nobility," she warned us again. "Keep those mouths shut and only speak when needed."
I nodded my head.
We marched a few meters more and finally reached the foyer of the castle. This entrance is different from where we entered the last time at the auction.
The golden foyer is filled with different kinds of flowers and leaves beautifully arranged. As it sensed us, they immediately vanished for us to pass through.
Magical, I thought.
We stepped inside the entrance and a large hall greeted us. Just like the last time, everything was golden and sparkling. I looked down at the cream marble floor and saw my reflection on it.
"Do not try to make a mess," Madame Butterfly muttered again.
I raised my head and roamed my eyes around the place. There were lots of servants wearing blue uniforms. They all looked at me and stopped whatever they were doing.
"Is she the auctioned omega?"
"Maybe."
"She really isn't that beautiful."
"I know. But she has beautiful eyes."
I got startled when I heard their voices and a little gossip. They're a distance away from me so I couldn't hear them talk among themselves, but I heard them.
"Not all maids and servants here are werewolves. Some are humans," Madame Butterfly uttered while smiling at each of those servants looking at me.
I nodded my head again. I know. I can sense who here is a werewolf and not.
Most of them are werewolves, maybe about twenty of them, and the rest are humans.
My heart throbbed unusually much faster when I felt Cyrus's presence somewhere. My eyes looked for him; however, I couldn't see him anywhere even with my sixth sense wielded.
"You shouldn't be looking for him right now. He is here within the castle, but I bet he isn't comfortable seeing you right now." A profound voice echoed from behind my ear.
"And why is that?" I asked, confusedly.
"Remember," Kieran moved closer to my earlobe. I felt tense. "He was drunk when he auctioned you."
"Of course, I won't forget that. I am not expecting him to treat me well anyway. It's just that..." I stopped speaking.
I shouldn't tell anyone here that I like Cyrus, because if I did, they would definitely hate me even more. I know that most of the servants and nobles here have heard about me already, and I can feel that they don't like me.
"It's just that?" Kieran gently said in a sweet tone.
I sighed and frowned.
"Forget it."
