A Kiss

Sawyer POV

As we walked past the packhouse and toward the woods, I couldn’t help but just stare at my mate. She was utterly gorgeous in her dress and she walked with such confidence I was honestly a bit envious of her. Every so often, Lucy would turn and smile at me as we walked, which caused my spirits to leap each time.

“So….tell me about yourself? Obviously, I know you are Sawyer, but that’s about all I know. Tell me more.” Lucy said as she stopped by a pond in a little clearing. As she perched on the rock, I looked at her in confusion as to why we were stopping there. “Oh! I like to come here to think and just enjoy the peacefulness. This is where I ran to after we first met…” Lucy trailed off, embarrassed. “Anyway, have a seat.” She said quickly, patting the rock beside her as a way of inviting me to sit down.

“Don’t be embarrassed or guilt-ridden about that. I totally understand why you panicked and ran.” I said, stroking her cheek softly with my hand. Lucy turned into the caress slightly, nuzzling my hand.

“I appreciate your understanding and compassion,” Lucy responded, smiling at me. “Now, seriously, tell me about yourself. I want to get to know you!” She exclaimed, giving me her full attention.

“Well, my name is Sawyer and I am 22-years-old. My brother is the Alpha of the Crystal Moon pack. While I am not a ranked member, I am one of our strongest warriors and am essentially an understudy Alpha although I have never wanted the position.” I added as I felt Lucy tense up as I mentioned knowing about Alpha duties. She relaxed a little, so I continued, trying to give her an encouraging smile. “When I am not training or working out you can find me reading a book or playing video games. I do enjoy a good movie every once in a while, but I much prefer written works of art.” I paused, giving her another smile.

“No way! I love to read too!” Lucy interjected. “Video games are fun too when I have time to play them. I also like to dance, it helps keep me in shape when I’m not training, and I can literally turn my brain off and get lost in whatever music I am dancing to.” Her eyes lit up and her face glowed as she talked about her love of dancing. Now that I think about it, some of her confidence probably came from the dancing poses she practiced. Lucy definitely had a dancer’s body, slender but strong and she carried herself with grace. As my eyes wandered up and down her body, I found my desire for her growing. I wanted to kiss her, hold her, touch her, but I know I couldn’t push her into something she wasn’t ready for, nor did I want to.

“What else is there to know about Lucy?” I asked her, trying to change the subject.

“Well, obviously, I am an only child, so I don’t have any siblings. I am very close with both my mom and my dad, although I feel closer to my dad because of all the shadowing I have done with him for as long as I can remember. I am 20-years-old, but almost 21. My wolf’s name is Indigo and she is very sassy. She’s very excited to have found you and can’t wait to officially meet you. My best friend is Lexa and she has been my best friend since diapers. Uhmmmmmmm yeah that’s me, there’s not much to me. I’m pretty simple and plain.” Lucy finished in a rush.

I took her hand in mine again and gazed into her eyes. “Something tells me you are anything but simple, and you are most definitely not plain. You are gorgeous.” I said.

She blushed and gazed back up at me. “I’m so sorry I haven’t told you yet, I’m such a bad mate,” Lucy said contritely. “But I think you’re handsome, really handsome, maybe even sexy.” She blushed as she blurted that last part out.

I couldn’t help but giggle at her, she was adorable. Plus, it made my heart, and my wolf, happy that she thought we were sexy. I was about to tell her that I returned the sentiment when she interrupted me instead.

“What is your wolf’s name? What is he like? Indi won’t stop asking me to ask, even though they can communicate with each other without our help.” Lucy asked, interrupting my thoughts.

“Oh, his name is Red. He’s very strong, like me, and has a warrior’s heart. He is also a big teddy bear though and can be very affectionate. He already loves everything about you and Indigo,” I responded.

“Wait, his name is Red? And you just happen to be the mate of the future Alpha of the Red Moon Pack? We really are meant to be together, aren’t we?” She wondered aloud, scooting closer to me.

I honestly couldn’t think straight with her being so close to me, but it did seem so perfect. All I could do was nod and get lost in her chocolate brown eyes.

“That is honestly quite sweet and perfect. The Moon Goddess definitely does know what she is doing up there,” Lucy mused.

I could see her happiness written clearly on her face, and not wanting to lose the opportunity to bask in her pure joy, I leaned closer to her and pressed my lips against hers.
