Chapter 25The land was farther than I’d thought. Three days paddling, and that distant spot swelled to a tiny blur. Behind it, a faint coastline stretched. Arrow and I rowed fast. Keesha’s kicking got louder. I looked back. Only her hands showed, pushing on the raft, and her kicking feet splashing the water. “Are we almost there?” she asked, her voice behind the reeds. “Is it an island?” I wondered out loud. “Maybe.” Arrow rowed harder. That would be nice. “If it isn’t, what will we do?” “I don’t know. What?” Arrow asked. “Keep going or stop on the Mainland?” I kept up with him.
