Chapter 10

I shoved my potential distraction away and focused on my food. I'll call her back when I arrive at my dorm, for now, I'll enjoy my lunch with the most beautiful man I've ever seen. Andrew. "You're not gonna answer that?" He questioned at the second ring. "Nope" I said simply, sucking on my straw. "Why?" "It's Ava calling" "Ava huh?! How's she doing?" "Are you asking in general or how she feels about you?" I rested my elbows on the table. He leaned forward. "Both" I glanced down at his lips before switching gaze to his eyes. "Well, she's fine and for sure hates you" He darkly chuckled. "She still hates me doesn't she" He reclined back, his grip on his cup. I chucked softly. "You can't imagine." It's wasn't like that before, Ava was Andrew's biggest fan. He was like a K-pop idol to her. She talked about him a lot, try to attract his attention and was even part of the girls who wrote anonymous love letter to him, since he was senior and a pretty bad boy. Soon, her antics to draw him to her stopped when she got to know, I secretly liked him. I wasn't open about it, like her and other hundreds of girls in school, and when she saw Andrew had eyes for me, she became our number one shipper. She would tease me till my cheeks turned red anytime Andrew threw a glance at me and would joke around loudly whenever he was around, just to get him to look our way. When we finally got together, unofficially, she was the happiest and threw a sleepover party where all we talked about was Andrew. Our first misunderstanding/breakup, was a minor one and Ava begged for me to forgive him and I did. The second was still minor, I was confused about our relationship since he wouldn't tell me more about his life or family and Ava still pleaded on his behalf. The third and fourth left me heartbroken, devastated and mentally ill and that was when Ava started to hated him. She would go behind my back, warning him to stay away from him with doable threats. My parents were also in support of this. My Dad wasn't really into my love life, but my mom was. Most nights Ava would sit me down telling me how Andrew was bad and toxic for me. It was visible, my lack of concentration, bad grades and the sleepless nights I had crying over him. She was pissed over her mind when she got to know, I was back with him, again. She clearly and candidly told me she wasn't in support of it, but wouldn't leave my side either. So when we broke up over a very heated argument and I was left standing on the front porch of her house, my eyes bloodshot and my face red from all the crying. Her hatred for Andrew grew to it's brink and she threatened to kill him, if he ever showed up again. I'm sure that's a valid reason why I didn't answer her call or why I won't tell that this lunch between a wanted Andrew ever happened. "You know she tried to kill me? What am I saying, she almost murdered me." I pointed a french fry to him. "Almost" I took a bite. He was slightly surprised that I defended. "You know, If my friend hadn't taken my motorcycle instead of me, I would have gotten seriously injured. She's lucky we didn't press charges." I scoffed. True, but he wouldn't do that. "Ava's harmless." I laid my elbows on the table. He laughed. "Ava dismantled my motorcycle. The one who's harmless is you." I gasped dramatically, feigning offense. I leaned back and crossed my arms. "You think I can't dismantle a bike?" "No! I think you can't even hurt a fly." I huffed. "Need I remember, I was the same girl who broke a boy's side view mirror." I reminded him to which he chuckled at. "Bee, it was by mistake and you were the same girl who ran crying your eyes out to my front door, begging for me to do something and not to tell your parents" I clicked my tongues. "I did no sure thing." "Oh yeah?" "Yeah" He looked up. "Um. Let's see.... Think it went like this 'Andrew please, you've gotta help, I broke a some guy's mirror and it was an accident. I don't know what to do.... I stared at him in shock. He still remembers. "...I think I'm gonna get into so much trouble, Andrew, I don't wanna to go to jaiilll" He broke into laughter and I smacked his arm playfully. "Okay. First of all, I didn't sound like a dying chicken.. "That's how you sounded to me." "...annnd i definitely didn't cry so much." "Oh yeah? You want me to reenact the part where I told I couldn't help just to tease you?.. okay... Andr- "Okayy! That's enough now, I think you need something to fill that big mouth of yours" I cut him off, picking up a fry and shoving into his mouth. I kept my finger on his lips, chuckling as he frowned. We stayed in that position for a while, my finger on his soft lips, our eyes locked on each other's and that old feeling warming up to me. I knew I wasn't the only one feeling it, he was too. The moment got awkward real fast and with that I dropped my hand and our eyes averted elsewhere. _____ After that awkward scene, we had conversations about different conversations we had conversed about. We spent a good hour just talking and reminiscing our past happy memories and Andrew didn't spare a chance to tease about some funny and clumsy moments. I talked intensely about the many events i had to face in the last 5 months and Andrew just sat there, listening to every word with fixed smile and stare. Our table was filled with empty cups and wrappers, but we were so absorbed with our talks that we didn't mind spend extra minutes just conversing. Despite us talking about everything, we were careful not to go in deep. It was like we both knew the outcome if we touched the topic and rather than that, we decided to ignore the subject. After spending more than 2 hours in the restaurant, Andrew got a text and he said it was important to attend to. So with that, he paid off the bill and we headed to the car. _______ The ride was shorter than before, all we just did was stare, laugh and talk about how delicious the lunch was. I diverted my gaze out the window for a spilt second after we drove past the sign that held up the school's name at the entrance. It didn't take too long for Andrew to locate my dormitory building. He pulled to a stop in front and then stepped out of the car. He made a little jog to my side, pulling the door open and offering me his hand. "You do know I can do this myself." I said, glancing at his still hand. "I know, but you would have from the moment I stopped." I glared at him for a while. Why does he always have a comeback. Rolling my eyes in defeat, I slid my hand on his. It's been a while since I held his hand. His roughy textured hand. And with that, he aided me out of his car and closed the door behind me. I raked my hair and moved forward, so that I would be in front of him and much closer to the entrance. He cleared his throat. "So this is it. I guess we go our separate ways then" and then my heart sunk at the realization, this was just a one time thing. It's not like he wanted to have lunch with me, it was just a coincidence that we met. We never planned it because we thought we won't have see each other. We'd continue with our separate lives with no plans of having a rendezvous of any sort. It was what was best for me. But everything in me wanted it to be different. I didn't want this to just be some kinda of matter of coincidence. I wanted to be it to be one of our many meetings. I wanted him near me, I felt complete again, comfortable and safe when we were at that restaurant. I felt raptured by the moment, where it was just us two, no one else. I guess things .....just doesn't always go your way.
