I mutely nodded. "Thanks for the ride."
"It's no problem" He nodded as well. Feeling a heavy pang in my chest, I turned. I let out a breath and took few slow steps forward. My heart pounding and hoping that I don't hear the sound of his car's engine and hopelessly turn to watch him roll away. I took one more step, before..
"Bee" I halted and turned at the spot. My eyes glaring at his as he ambled towards me.
"I want to see you again." He stopped in front of me. He wanted to see me, that means he also feels something.
"Yeah.." Came my response. It wasn't what I had in mind, but it already out.
His eyebrows frowned. "You don't?"
"No no I..I do. I..I want to see you again and maybe... talk"
His lips curled up into a smile and in was infatuating. But it lasted for a few seconds. "That's not going to possible."
I blinked at him. "Why?" I scowled.
"You blocked me remember?"
Oh! I totally forgot that I blocked him from all social media platform and calls and also deleted his number from my phone...I was really angry at him.
I chuckled, tucking my hair behind my ear and glancing down at my feet. "We'll work on that." I said.
And that infatuating smile danced on his face again. "I'll talk to you later."
"Yeah." With the wide grin stretched across my lips, I turned, strutting into the building and heading straight to the elevator.
_________
The elevator dinged at the fourth floor and it slid open. I stepped out, steering to my left as I sauntered to my dorm. My phone buzzed repeatedly in my pocket, I dug it out and brought it to my face.
It was Ava and she wants to FaceTime. I accepted the call and shortly after, Ava's middle finger popped up.
I chuckled. "That's welcoming."
"That's for not answering my call earlier" Came her face on the screen.
"I was having lunch." I told her.
"So you found your way back?"
I stopped at the front of my dorm and gave it the door knob a little wiggle to know if Kim had returned from her classes. It was locked.
"....Well, I wanted to tell you I'm home now." I moved my bag to my front, with one hand unzipping and groping for the keys and the other holding my phone up.
"What are you looking for?" I brought my face up to the screen.
"My keys." I replied and averted my gaze back to my bag. When I had grasp of it, I dug it out, shifting the bag to it's original position and sliding the key in. I jiggled the key a few time, while Ava ranted about the party that got her into this mess, and with one last jiggle, the door fall inward and I sighed in relief.
".... Listen, Alberto is a good guy and-
"Ava, Don't worry about it. Who am I to judge what you do on your first day?" I shut the door behind, tossing my bag gently on my side of the room.
"Er.. you're my best friend."
"I know, but we all have our lives. We're humans and we sometimes don't have control over what we do, but we're not meant to judge." I explained.
Her eyes narrowed at me and I wore a bright grin. "What did you do?"
"I-what..-No!- I scoffed "-I..I'm just saying."
"Okay.. It's strange because you're talking as if you found yourself in the same situation as mine and after scolding me earlier, you feel guilty because of the irony and hence, wants to makes the situation better, by openly and generally blaming humans of their natural flaws."
That sums it up. If I go on the same line, she'll found out in no time that I had lunch with Andrew. I plopped down onto my bed, my both legs curled up and my phone lowered for a better view of my face.
"No... I'm just saying, I thought about and felt bad for judging. I don't have to do something to feel guilty about reprimanding you" and with that, the door flung open with a thud and Kim matched in with the brightest grin. I frowned my eyebrows at this. What's all the raucous about?
"Ki-
"I was downstairs, talking to a friend when I saw a car pull up."
Oh s**t! My mouth parted to talk but was cut off immediately.
"Beth, you didn't tell me- of course we weren't that close yet-but at least you should have."
I sat uncomfortable in the situation. Any minute now, Kim would blurt out that I was with Andrew and Ava would freak out. I have to do something.
"Uhm"
"I thought I knew the car was familiar until it was..." She continued. I took my camera away from my view and gestured to Kim to stop but her eyes met everywhere but mine.
Shit. s**t. s**t! I was panicking. Even though Ava's far away, she could do a lot damage by just talking and then ignoring me for weeks.
My bulged eyes begging Kim to shut up.
"Kim, we should talk about this lat-
"Drew Carter! I thought you were joking about him being your ex and now that I saw you with him this evening, I totally believe you."
Oh f**k!
Ava kept a mazed face all this time until the revelation. "Beth!" She called.
I cussed at myself, before bringing the screen to my face. "Ava! meet Kim, my roommate and." I turned to Kim. "Kim, meet Ava, my best friend." I introduced despite the situation at hand.
I turned the camera to Kim and with a beaming smile, she waved at Ava.
"Hi, Ava."
"Hi, it's nice to meet you. Beth"
"Hm"
"Turn the fuckin camera." I turned it quickly and the feigned grin that was plastered on my face ebbed away when Ava glared hostilely at me.
"Maybe we should talk later." I nervously uttered after the long silence.
"Don't even talk to me" and with that she hung up.
It's really being a day..
