Chapter 8

1275 Words
I walked down the paved road leading to the cafeteria. I was very hungry after just finishing 3 classes, my wrist are hurting from all the notes taking and I think the day is going well, so far. I dug out of my phone from my jacket pocket after it chimed. Turning the screen on, Kim's message pops up. Kim: Can't join you, I have a class in 5 minutes. I sighed sadly. I was really looking forward to having lunch with her, mainly because I needed someone to stand by me incase I get any hateful glare or something. I was about to put my phone away when I got a call from Ava. I clicked on the answer button and brought up to my ear "Heyy" We both chirped and snickered afterwards at the unison. "I thought you'd be in class" I spoke. "Just finished. I'm heading home now." Her voice sounding a little bit higher than usual, but I chose to ignore. "Same here, I'm just heading to the cafeteria for a quick lunch" "Okay." Her voice sounding a bit pitchy. A thing of hers that happens anytime she's hiding something. "Ava. Tell me" She scoffed, feigning ignorance. "What are you talking about?" "Okay" I imitated her pitchy voice. "You're hiding something. Tell me! Ava did you get into some kind of trouble?" Honestly, I won't be surprised if I get a call around 3am in morning, telling me to come bail her ass from jail or the police were looking for her and found out my relationship with her. "Ava it's your first day and you're already getting into trouble" I scolded. "Okay.. Mom. I'm not in some kind of trouble." She teased and I steered to a different path. Totally, not realizing I was going the wrong way. "Listen, I know school just started and I shouldn't be doing this.. but" Her tone going soft at 'but' "Uh... Don't reprimand me... But.. uh.." she groped for the words and I was groping for my sanity. Rolling my eyes in exasperation. "Ava tell me! What did you do now?!" "What if... I told you...Uh.. Remember when I said I had a lot of scheduled parties to attend?" "Yeah?" "Well... What if.. I did attend those party and... maybe." I halted, holding my forehead with the tip of my fingers. "Ava" I sang warningly. "Okay.. okay.. I'll tell you... I lied." I frowned. "About what?" "....About attending classes today." I sighed stressfully. "Ava.. you skipped class-" and then it all connected and hit me like a hurricane. She goes to a scheduled party, she's doesn't attend classes and I'm pretty sure the fact that she's been yakking about this Alberto guy for the past 2 days had something to do her missing out on her first day. I know, Ava isn't the study type but come on- It's her first day of college. An experience you can never forget. "Did you go to a party and then spend the night with someone?" I questioned. "Er.. .." she trailed. "Oh my gosh Ava!" "I overslept! She justified. "You slept with a guy on your first week of college and missed your classes, You shouldn't be doing that." I pointed out the obvious and was slightly disappointed at it. "For the record... It's Alberto" "Oh wow! What a surprise!" I commented sarcastically, blowing out air afterwards. I scowled after taking a observant look of my surrounding, I wasn't near the cafeteria or anywhere near the landmark I made when I was tour with Kim. I was lost. "Oh No!" I breathed. Ava gabs were cut short. "What's wrong?" "You got me lost!" "What?...From what point? Should I start over again?" She asked cluelessly. "No! I told I was going to the cafeteria, now I'm no where near there. I was so engrossed talking to you, I lost my way." I explained. "Find your way back!" She said. "Obviously" I started moving around, looking for any familiarity from the tour to somehow find my way back. But then, nothing. "I haven't been here before." I let out, looking around. "So you're lost?!" " No! Ava, I'm at home, eating pizza and watching Grey Anatomy with my roommate. Of course I'm lost and now stressed." "Okay okay.. geez.." "I'll call you later, I need to find my way back." "Why don't you keep talking me, while you find your way back and I can tell you all abou- "No no no, You're the reason I got into this mess in the first place and I'm going to get out without your help. Bye Ava." "Okay. Bye" I hung up, heaving a sigh of aggravation, while running my fingers through my hair frustratedly. I should call Kim. Tch! No oo Kim's having class right now. I'm not only hungry, now I'm stressed. I should ask around. "You lost missy?" A familiar deep voice questioned and I turned, slightly getting slapped by my own hair. I tucked my hair away from my vision and swallowed down my sudden dry throat. He was wearing a gray T-shirt, black leather jacket and slim fitted jeans. His hair messy due to the small breeze that blew and his eyes lustrous and entrancing as always. I was taken by his beauty. "Andrew" I muttered. "Um... What's makes you think I'm lost?" I questioned, ignoring my racing heart. He cleared his throat, sending shivers down my body. "Anyone who has eyes can see your mazed state from a mile away." I crossed my arm, changing posture. "I'll have you know, I'm not lost. I was here and now I'm heading to the cafeteria." I lied. I definitely wasn't going to admit that I got my ass lost on the same campus I was toured around just few days ago. He kept still, his eyes glaring at me like scanners. "Alright.." was all he said. I released my arms. "I'll get going." I moved slowly, unsure where to go. All I knew was that I needed to get away from here, far away from him. I turned. My heavy feet ready to move. "Hmm..you sure you're heading to the cafeteria? Cause it's this way." He aired out and I halted on my slow track. I bit my bottom lip before turning to him. His arm stretched out to the direction he had just pointed out and with him stepping aside for a clearer view. I glanced down out of embarrassment and continue what now seemed to be hard, walking. I made that awkward walk towards him and when I was up close and was taken by his spicy aroma, I looked up at him, to see him already staring at me. Feeling uncomfortable and intimidated by his stare and tall figure, I switched my gaze. "Thanks" I managed to walk past him, few steps away. What now? My body was screaming to say something, maybe ask him to join me or ask for a date. Are you serious right now?!- I don't know! I... I just feel like I need to have him close to me again,. maybe as friends. Yeah right! There's nothing wrong having your ex as a friend. Infact in most cases where you need something kind of help or support, you could call them or some cases where they're the only ones who could offer you help at the moment and you might be desperate. So why should I be judged if I'm looking out for my future. "Bee" My heart started pounding for no reason and I turned, tucking my hair behind ear. "Yeah." "Have lunch with me" What!?
