Kim managed to get us a ride back to the campus and thankfully, the ride extended to our hall. During the journey, she remained quiet and still. And to me, she was been kinda creepy.
____
Kim paced back and forth around the room, minutes after we arrived. I perched on the edge of my bed, my eyes following her every movement.
Are we in some kind of Sci-fi movie or something?
"Kim, it's been 10 minutes, what's wrong with you?" I broke the silence and with that she stopped.
"What's wrong with me? Are you serious?" I kept my confused mask on. Honestly, I was so confused.
"Tch! A moment ago, I was telling you how Drew was the 'guy of every girls'eyes' He's super hot." She pointed out, to which I 'Okay?" to.
"How do you think, I would feel if his 'ex' showed up out of the blue?" She air quoted the Ex, laying more emphasis.
I was slightly taken aback by the question. "I.. don't know?"
She sighed. "It would alert me! Beth, right now. You're a problem. Lots girls would hate on you for just being his ex." She explained.
Wow! Andrew has a lot of girls around him, why he even so much think about me.
"Listen Kim, Our relationship is a thing of the past and if you think I'm a problem to yo-
"No, you're not a problem to me. Since you're my friend. I won't go after your very hot ex. Girl Code and stuff." Friend. I smiled at the word. She considers me as a friend. Up until now, I had only one friend, my best friend, Avalon. She's been my only friend since elementary school Out of over 4000 students, she was the only one that appreciated my existence, She and Andrew of course and maybe few of his friends-the point is, I'm really happy I've added another female friend to my list. I couldn't say the same for Ava, she's sociable.
"But I can't say the same for the others." She added and I snapped out of my trance. I got up from where I perched.
"Andrew and I are a thing of the past." I frowned at that sad fact. As much as I wanted it to be different, I couldn't change what was already done.
"Andrew? You call him Andrew?"
"Yeah?"
"And he's okay with it?"
"Yes-Kim could we please change the subject. It's a very-
"Touchy subject, You've said." She completed. I smiled at her understanding. It was already late and I was tired of staying awake. The topic of Andrew was seems to tense me up. I perched down on the bed, before laying down and facing the wall.
My thoughts already drifting, I was drawn back into reality when Kim said. "I'm not gonna let anyone talk bad about you, trust me." Sincerity evident in her voice. It moved me.
I think I could use this every day.

Kim stood in front of the mirror, taking different poses, claiming she'd make billions if she was a model. I, on the other hand was nervous because it was my first day of class. My mom had told me about the pressure in college and advised not to be 'pressured' about it, that I'd soon adapt to the lifestyle. I was nervous, because I feared that I wouldn't be able to adapt quickly like Kim, who was already getting the hang of it.
"You know if I wasn't into journalism, I would be a full time model for chanel, Louis Vuitton or Gucci." She spoke, pouting her lips like a fish and posing. When she noticed I wasn't paying attention, she turned to me, scowling.
"You okay?" She asked.
"Well, beside being afraid of not fitting into this college lifestyle, I could say I'm fine." I replied, placing my required books into my bag. Kim moved closer.
"What makes you think you're not gonna fit in?"
"I don't know, I'm just nervous." I said, placing more books into the bag. I was just about to add extra when her hand sat on mine.
"Beth." She called, setting the book down and then sitting me down. She perched beside me and now, we were facing each other.
"You don't have to be scared. Believe me, I was in the same position as you are in right now. When I arrived, I thought I wouldn't fit in and would be some kind of outcast or something. Trust me, it's normal to be nervous, but I got to see people who are way worst than me and it really helped."
I frowned my eyebrows at her. "You overcame your anxiety by seeing that you're better than other people in the same position as you?"
She nodded. That's one hell of an advice. At least, she isn't wrong about it.
"Maybe you're right. I'll fit in just fine." I can tell you the advice did help me to calm down. Even though it looks like I was being selfish.
"Good. Now take all those extra books out and let's get going. I don't want to be late for class, because of your ass." She urged and I did so. I took out the extra, prepared physically and mentally and was now ready to join the crowd.
"Let's go!"
**
I glanced at my phone while I walked down the hallway, looking for my first class. I was having Maths, this morning and Kim, English. So we went our separate ways as soon as we stepped out of the hall building.
I continued sauntering down the hallway and took one last glance at my phone, the reason why it was my last, was because my body slammed into another in that brief moment. It was like I had come in contact with a fleshy rock.
"Sorry"
"Sorry."
We both said. I looked up to see a sandy blonde guy smiling down at me. His Irish green eyes glared down at mine and his arms were wrapped around my body, preventing me from falling.
I blushed slightly out of embarrassment. I should be looking for my class, but here I am, bumping into a handsome guy.
"I'm sorry." I shied away.
"No I'm sorry, I bumped into you." He said.
"What are you saying? I was on my phone, I wasn't looking."
He chuckled softly and it sent a zing through me. "I guess we're but at fault then"
"Yeah, I guess so" my cheeks flushing.
"I'm Brandon" His hand stretched out.
"I'm Bethany, but you can call me Beth for short." I reached for his hand and damn! They are soft.
"I think I'll call you Betty." He smiled adorably and it made me blush once again. Betty, I like it.
What's happening to me?
After the long silence and staring, we broke it by laughing at the awkwardness. It was one awkward moment, but we chose to laugh over it, like it was nothing. It was definitely something.
"You must be late for class?
" He scowled and then it dawned on me that I had classes to attend.
"Darn! If I'm not there in 2 minutes, I'd be late, but I can't seem to find my class"
"Freshman?"
"Yeah."
"That's cool, I'll help you find your class. What class are you having?"
"Maths."
"Alright, follow me, my lady." He teased, to which I smiled gingerly at. I moved beside him and then we started walking with him taking the lead. We made few talks and soon without us knowing we arrived at my destination.
"Here we are, your destination like I promised." He said with a smile.
I glanced at the class and then back at him. "Thank you" I looked up at him.
"You're welcome. I guess, this is where we part ways right?" He uttered almost laughing. His bottom lip rolled in as he bit it briefly.
"I guess so" I glared at his lips for a while before looking away. How stupid of me.
"See you another time Betty." He smiled.
"See you." I smiled back.
And with that, he walked ahead and I stepped into my class. I didn't know I was smiling too hard until my cheeks started hurting. I bit my lips as the realization.
I'm looking forward to this 'moving on' thing.
Hopefully.
