The She Alpha

Chapter 3

Messer’s POV

I take a step back. I am utterly dumbfounded. How could I have not known? How does SHE not know who she is? I feel a sudden wave of heat flash over my body once again. I quickly push my wolf back.

Eva is standing there in a towel. For a split second I think about pulling it off of her but she is still just staring at me. It appears as though all of her blood has rushed to her face. Those beautiful eyes are still glowing with purple specks. Her hands are balled up into tiny fist. She has them clenched so tightly that her knuckles are white. This will not end well if I stick around any longer.

I jet out the elevator leaving her there. I rush off to Alpha Kane’s office and beat on the door. My father opens it.

“What is wrong with you. Have some respect son and where the hell is your clothes?” He is pissed.

“My apologies Alpha. Can I please have a word with you alone?” I beg.

“Of course Mess. Beta Miles please give us a moment.” He says while never taking his curious eyes off of me.

My father steps out closing the door behind him. Just as I am ready to spill my guts, Alpha Kane puts his hand up signaling me to wait. He rummages around in his desk drawer for a minute and then shuts it.

“I wanted to give your father a moment to get on his way. What could possibly be going on that you would ask to speak to me without your father?” He questions.

“How long have you known?” I ask.

“What are you taking about Messer?” His tone changes.

“Eva. We both know she is Alpha. The true Alpha chosen by the Moon Goddess.” As I say this his face drops.

“Son, why would you say such a thing?” He says with an angry growl.

I explained what happened on the training floor after everyone left. Us both shifting. Then, I told him about our secret relationship. He took it all in and knew he could not lie to me any longer.

“Messer, we both know she is the Alpha. I have kept it from her and you will too. She chalks her size and commanding aurora up to her rank as a warrior and having an Alpha bloodline. That’s why I am weakening more and more everyday. Carrying on in a position that is not mines is killing me.” He shares like it’s a weight being lifted from his shoulders.

“Someone needs to tell her Kane. Once you step down, your health will get better. In better health, you can help her out along the way.” I urge.

“First. You will continue to refer to me as Alpha. The last thing I need is anyone else figuring this out. Who do you think will respect a pack lead by a she-wolf. We would be the joke of all our neighboring packs. That’s even if our pack will accept being led by a woman. I hoped she would be mated by the Moon Goddess. I had decided whoever she was mated to would get the Alpha title. She was suppose to rule along side of him but that never happened. The older she gets the harder it will be for her to find her mate. I can’t keep going anymore. Ten years is a long time. I have maybe a month left in me.”

I feel like a bomb was just dropped on me. He was right but she deserve to know. Even if I have to be the one to tell her.

I stand up to walk out. White bath towel around my waist. “Mess. Please do not tell your father. We both know what a power hungry asshole he can be. I do trust him but not with this. I don’t want anything to happen to Eva.” He whispers as I make my way to the door.

“You have my word Alpha.” I respond while stepping into the hallway.

Eva’s POV

It has been a couple hours and Messer still has not come back. I decided to go have lunch in the cafeteria. I figured Messer would be home by the time I got back. I hope to talk about whatever made him act so weird.

“Hey Lily!” I say as I take a seat. Just then my eyes were covered by two hand reaching from behind me.

“Guess who?!” A soft voice breathes into my ear.

“JANE!” I scream! We wrap our arms around each other letting out the girliest squeals.

Jane was my best girl friend until she was mated to a neighboring pack’s Beta. Because of his position, she had no choice but to move with him. Her visit is the perfect distraction from my lousy morning.

“Ok Ladies. We having a girls only movie night at Eva’s tonight. I’m only here to help with my brother’s new mate with their upcoming ceremony. I won’t have much free time but I want to make the best of it starting now.” She says full of excitement.

“Finally!” Lily cries out. “I need a good girls night! I’ll bring the junk food!”

“It’s a date.” I say with a smile.

We chat for a while picking up where we left off. Then, I excuse myself and make my way to my suit.

The elevator doors open and Messer is not here. I step further into the living room and see a note on the coffee table beside the sofa.

Meet me in the tub and bring these.

I grab the handcuffs that were beside the note. I follow the trail of clothes that leads into my bedroom and to the bathroom door. I can hear the bath water still running. I go to take off my shirt before going in when I pick up an unfamiliar scent. Before I could respond, someone grabs me from behind holding a white cloth over my nose and mouth. I instantly go lightheaded and someone drops me on the floor. The whole room is spinning and I can’t seem to find my mobility. I can see a male figure but I can’t seem to make out a face. I struggle trying to focus eyes. I start slipping in and out of consciousness when I hear a voice.

“I got her. Make sure the elevator is clear. We about to come down.”

I undeniably know it is Beta Miles.
