1) The meet
I am Laura Jones, the typical nerd you expect in every high school. After my parents' death in a plane crash, I have been living with my aunt Jessica. She is everything a legal guardian should be not.I have tried to keep her calm every time, but she finds a way or two to make me feel low. It has become a sort of habit for me, So I have started letting things go. I don't like all the dramas being created.
"You are late, Laura", my literature teacher says me as I stand at the door frame asking for permission to get in. "I am extremely sorry... Actually I overslept", why to tell a lie when a truth is lot better?"I like your honesty ", he said nodding his head, "But sorry.. I can't let you in... You are late by 20 freaking minutes", he said with irritation laced in his voice.
"I swear.. I will be on time next time. Please let me in.", I said trying to get in. "If so.. get your parents here, I will talk to them", he said. The remembrance of my parents took me to an alternate reality, where I am happy. "Sorry, but y parents are not here.. They r in New York", I said down lowly. "And... they are in New York since last 3 months, aren't they?", he said with sarcasm.
I understand it. Since last 4 years I have been saying that my parents are in New York. Nobody knows that my parents are dead... I was tired of those sympathetic smiles and consoling eyes, which never came to hold me for a while to say "Everything will be fine, Laura". From then on, I decided to keep it a secret. Let no one know it.
"You are wasting my time Laura",my literature sir say me and I move out of the class, without uttering a single word or trying to convince him any further.
On my way back to my locker, I bump into a hard masculine chest. I was so absorbed in my own thoughts that I was unable to notice the person.
"I am sorry", I hissed from embarrassment.
"Whoa guys... a nerdie!", the boy with masculine chest said.
And all of them gathered near me. A group. Two boys and three girls.
"Watcha name, babes?", the boy asked.
"L..Laura Jones", I stuttered boring into my books, fixing the rim of my glasses.
"Doesn't she remind you of a pig?", a rosy-cheeked girl asked.
"Yew.. not pig but a filthy c**k", a red head said and all of them passed onto fits of laughter.
"You guys are pathetic!", a guy with blonde hair said and came to me extending his hand for help.
Maybe he is nice.
As I extend my hand to hold his', he backed off his hand and the whole group continued their laugh while the guy smirked. "U know what? I keep away from girls like you", he said and went away... followed by his group.
The Monday has not been good till now .. I wonder what will happen to the remaining days??? Let God help me from the devil squad now.
