I felt a warm, rough hand holding mine. I was so confused. Daddy? No, he was gone. My heart rate spiked as fear raced through my body. Oh god. Had he found me? My body jerked and I pulled my hand back, trying to escape. I just dropped back to the bed. I felt so weak. I could barely move or control my body. My eyes widen as I look around the room. Trying to find something to protect myself. A way to escape. “ssshhhh. It’s ok Aria You're safe. “ a warm voice that made a tingle run throughout my body calming soothed me. My restless gaze froze on his face. I held my breathe for a moment as my eyes focused on the most astonishingly handsome man I have ever seen. None of the characters I had imagined even came close to him. Had I died? No human could be that gorgeous. His muscles rippled and flexed as he leaned over and pulled the fallen blanket back up and over me. I breathed in his scent. Like fresh air, pine trees and mint. A crisp but calming fragrance that made me feel comforted. I was so confused. My throat and mouth felt so dry. My voiced cracked and I managed to croak out “who?...”

He game me a half smile. He patted my hand , “My name is Cameron, but you can call me Cam. And while we haven’t officially met before, we have known each other for a while sweetheart. When you are a bit better, I will explain. But right now, you need your rest. I promise you that you are safe. I will never hurt you. “ his eyes flashed golden for a moment before changing back to the chocolate brown that made me feel like I was sinking. He leaned over and picked up a cup of water while his other hand reached under my shoulder, lifting my head slightly up while tilting the glass so I could have a drink. I felt the cool water enter my parched mouth and slide down my throat. After a few sips, he put the cup back and gently lowered me back down. “would you like me to stay here with you a bit longer, or would you like me to give you some alone time?” I don’t know why, but the thought of him leaving my reach hit me with a wave of unease. I reached up and gripped his hand with my own. “stay. Please.” I whispered. I watched his eyes light up as if I have give him an amazing gift. “of course baby. Anything for you.” He continues holding my hand while his other comes up to my face and gently brushes through my hair. I close my eyes and drift of back to sleep.

When I finally awoke, I felt... refreshed. The nightmares that had haunted me all these years hadn't reared its ugly head. They only one that has given me that feeling of comfort was that wolf. “WOLF! Where?” I look around frantically. On god. I hope this man didn’t hurt him. That man.... Cam. He ran into the room. “what's wrong? Are you ok?”

“sorry.... ummm... have you seen a beautiful silver and black wolf? He lives with me? “

CAM

Our mate thinks I’m beautiful. My wolf beams with pride as I roll my eyes at his puffed up physique. Although, I have to admit that knowing my appearance is pleasing to her. When I reflect on the look she gave me when she woke up, my human appearance also seems to be attractive to her.

“It's ok. The wolf is fine. He and I are good friends actually. “ I sheepishly smile while reaching my hand up and cradling the back of my neck. I then have a scratch before dropping it to my side while I consider if it is too soon to drop the knowledge bomb on her.

“ I know that the past few days have been strange and confusing. And I am really grateful that you trusted me enough to help take care of you. But ummm.... look. I have some things to tell you and I really hope you can listen with an open mind. I just need you to know, I will never, ever hurt you. I swear to the moon goddess.”

I want her face go from bewildered to troubled and then finally to cautious. She slowly nods her head and I take a deep breathe. I start to shift. My muscles stretch and contract and my bones crackle and joints move. My nails turn to claws and fur erupts all over my skin. Within moments, my wolf form is complete and I take a few careful steps over to the bed. I rest my front paws and head on the mattress and give my best puppy dog eyes. When I see that she isn’t screaming or panicking or well... fainting. I take that as a sign to get closer. I jump up onto the bed and sit next to her. I nuzzle her neck and give her cheek a lick before lowering my head to her lap. Her hand instinctively reaches to pet my fur and I revel in her gentle touch. She brushes her fingers through my fur as I watch her mind tick.

ARIA

What in the ever loving he’ll just happen? I can't..... just...... huh? The moment he lays his head on my lap, I start to stroke his soft fur. The comforting feeling of the silky threads running through my fingers comforts me. As it always has. My mind whirled as I try to process what just happened. That man.... that man just changed into a wolf. I saw that... right? I look down and see the wolf staring back at me. “Cam?” his head pops up and he says a soft, cheery yip while giving me what I can only believe is a smile. I shake my head, trying to clear the fog. “are you a..... a werewolf?”

He hops of the bed and transforms into his human form. I shriek and cover my eyes as his bare bronze chest, long legs and.... other parts all become visible. “your clothes are gone!”

I hear him laugh as he grabs a blanket and wraps it around himself. “I’m decent now. And yeah. I am a werewolf. Ummm... if you give me a minute, I can go put some clothes on and when I come back, we can talk some more?”

I lower my hands and turn to face him. While the blanket covers most of his bare flesh, I wouldn’t use the term decent. It actually made him look more tempting as the cover moved when he breathed and gave flashes of his body partially hidden beneath. “yeah. Sure. Sounds like a plan.” My eyes shifting around the room as I try not to stare. I feel an unrecognizable warmth in my chest and between my legs. I shift my body a little. It must be because I am recovering and been in bed for so long. I reason to myself. He walks out the room, giving me a few moments to myself.
