Chapter 1
Piper's Point Of View
I slowly turned in my sleeping bag and looked up at his face. He was sound asleep, he looked peaceful, less...angry. I gently pressed my hand on his cheek and rubbed by thumb across it. This man was my hero, quite literally actually. When the outbreak first began, he saved my life. He came into my house to scavenge for food and gas for his car but instead found me hiding in the closet. He told me to go with him, said that he'd look after me and he promised that I would never get hurt. And I haven't....so far. But I trust him, literally, with all my life.
Slowly, I dropped my hand only to get a small fright when Daryl grabbed it and placed it back on his cheek. With a small smile, I looked up at him, his blue eyes were now open and he smiled down at me. I leant up a placed my lips on his before pulling away again. I felt him placed his hand on my waist. His rough fingers slowly caressing my bare skin.
"Why you up so early darlin'?" He asked, his familiar country accent seeping through.
"I couldn't sleep." I replied.
"Why not?" He questioned. I looked down, slightly embarrassed.
"I'm just worried." I whispered, peeking back up at him. Daryl smiled slightly.
"You don't have to be worried, baby, I'm here I promised to protect you and that's what I'm gunna do." He said, leaning his forehead on mine. I smiled up at him and nodded. "Now go back to sleep, you need rest." Daryl ordered. Nodding, I turned back onto my side. Daryl wrapped his arm round my waist and I slowly fell back into a deep slumber.

My eyes slowly fluttered open and I was alone. Daryl must've gotten up early. I slowly sat up and stretched my arms out, letting out a yawn. Pulling off my pyjamas, I changed into a pair of ripped shorts, a black vest and my black combat boots. I strapped on my belt and put my M1911 guns into the holsters. Grabbing my leather vest , I pulled it on before unzipping the tent and stepping out. I walked over to the rest of the campers who were just sitting around really. Amy was sitting with Dale by the radio.
"Any of the guys tryin' to get through today?" I asked.
"Nope." She said, biting her lip. "It's all quiet, they've been out there for too long." Worry was written on Amy's face as she rubbed her arm impatiently. Her sister was out there, I could understand what this was like for her. I sat beside her, in the empty chair next to the radio and placed my hand on her shoulder.
"I'm sure they're fine, don't worry too much, Merle and T-Dog will look after them." I said. She gave me a small smile and nodded. "Hey, do you know where Daryl went?" I asked, looking round the camp.
"He went out hunting, he left pretty early, should be back soon." She explained. I nodded and pushed a strand of hair behind my ear. Amy smirked at me and I gave her a confused look.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing, just you and Daryl, you're different from any other couple I've seen." She said.
"Is..is that a bad thing?" I asked, farrowing my eyebrows.
"No, it's good, you two are so adorable, when Daryl is with you, he shows a whole different side of himself." She smiled. I smiled back. We talked for a while, until lunch which was the same old rations.
The camp was quiet today, I think we all had a lot on our minds. Dale was stood on top of the RV doing his daily look out, everyone else was sat around talking quietly among themselves. I, however was sat by my tent staring out into the trees, worrying...again. I was pulled from my thoughts when a hand was placed on my shoulder. I turned around to see Lori smiling at me.
"You okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I sighed, glancing back at the tree.
"Daryl's a big boy you know, he can take care of himself." Lori said, smirking slightly. I looked back at her and smiled.
"I know I just get so worried about him when he goes out there on his own. I care about him so much, I don't know what I'd do if I lost him." As I spoke a smirk was growing on Lori's face. I frowned slightly before I was scooped off my feet. I yelped as I was pulled against a chest. A familiar laugh rang through my ears as I looked up at the culprit. Daryl was smirking down at me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his lips.
"That awful mean of you, sneakin' up on me like that." I stated, pressing my forehead on his.
"Well, I'm sorry girlie, but I just couldn't help myself." He said, a smirk still on his face. He slowly lowered me to the ground before planting a kiss on my lips again. Once I pulled back we headed back over to the camp. Daryl put his crossbow back in the tent whilst I sat next to Amy again. Daryl exited the tent and walked over to me, he lifted me from the chair before sitting in it himself and pulling me onto his lap. He nuzzled his head into the crook of my neck, his hot breath fanning against my skin. I let out a small sighed before turning to Daryl. I leant over to his ear.
"I'm gonna go bathe in the lake, care to join me?" I whispered seductively back to see a wide-eyed Daryl, I smirked and bit my lip. Daryl gulped before standing up, lifting me with him. I yelped again as he began to carry me in the direction of the lake. He turned back to the camp.
"Lori, Carol, if ya don't want ya kids to be scarred for life, keep 'em away from the lake for an hour." He called before continuing towards the lake, making me giggle even more. Once we reached the lake, he slowly placed me down at the foot of it, holding my waist, keeping me close. I pushed him back slightly and took and step back myself then taking off my holster and my boots, smirking at Daryl as he watched. I then pulled off my leather vest. Daryl stepped forward and grabbed the hem of my shirt. He slowly pulled it up, his rough fingers grazing along my skin. I lifted my arms as he pulled my shirt off before tossing it aside. He grabbed the loopholes of my shorts and pulled me close. I lifted my hands and began to unbutton his shirt vest before sliding it off. Running my hands down his chest, I looked up into his lust filled eyes. I then slowly pushed back before turning and walking towards the water. I slipped off my shorts before stepping into the water. The coldness enveloped me as I swam under the water. Glancing back, I saw Daryl swimming towards me.
He placed his hands on my bare waist, slowly rubbing circles on my hips. I slowly leaned in and pressed my lips on the corner of his mouth. I pulled back slightly before pressing them, fully against his. He immediately kisses back before hooking his hands underneath my thighs and lifting me up. I wrapped my legs around his torso, as he began to kiss my neck. I sighed as his kisses left tingles along my neck and jawline.

I slowly pulled on my top as Daryl began to button up his shirt. He smirked up at me and I pulled on my shorts. He walked over to me wrapped his arms around my waist, hugging me from behind. I smiled and relaxed against him. This was the side of Daryl I loved to see, no anger, no coldness, just love and affection. He wasn't really like this in front of the camp, but I guess he was just in a good mood today.
"You know when this is all over, if it ever is over, will we still be together?" I asked, turning in his arms, lifting my own up and placing them on the back of his head, playing wit his hair. He smiled down at me.
"Of course, and we're gonna have a house together, we're gonna have kids together, we're gonna grow old together, and we're gonna die together." With each together he spoke, he placed a small kiss on my lips. "And you wanna know why we're gonna do all of that?" He asked.
"Why?" I retorted, with a large smile.
"Because I've fallen in love with ya Piper, there's no denyin' it." He announced. My smile grew wider and I kissed him, hard.
"I love you too, Daryl Dixon."
