I almost squealed in joy and happiness at the sight of my wolf. Her fur going from snow white to a pale blue that almost looked silver, her pitch black paws changing to a deep purple.
Her ears and tail were a bit longer. Her body growing bigger than before. Her K9s longer and thicker. She was beautiful.
I prayed all day that the Goddess would bless the change so that I may still run with my people.
When the time came, I reached out to my wolf. "Are you there?"
"I'm always here, Angelina. You don't have to worry. The Goddess has blessed the change. We can run with them."
If I had a tail in my human form, it would be wagging like crazy right now.
I waited at the place where the border was once. A few were there. Most being wolves, but one being a vampire. I gave it another hour. Still, no one came. I did what I could and opened the pack link. "Tardiness is not something I like." I growled out.
There were a few apologies, but there was one that stuck out the most. "I refuse to answer to a freak like you." I recognized this voice. This was the voice of the same guard from the school.
A loud growl like hiss vibrated inside my head. "You will obey your Queen!" Simon sounded like he was using the mate bond to mind link the warrior, which in turn, the whole pack and vampire clan heard him.
The wolves around me whimpered in fear Rowan and I both took his hands in our own. This helped him calm down. Slowly, vampires and werewolves gathered. It was almost midnight by the time everyone was gathered. There were a total of 1500 people standing in front of me. Only 500 were werewolves while the rest were vampires.
No one had shifted yet, the Alpha and Luna were supposed to shift first. It was a sign of dominance, but I didn't want to rule like that. Rowan went to start his shift, but I stopped him. He looked at me like I had grown three heads. I just smiled softly and stepped forward. "Omegas! Please come to the front!" I called out.
Once they were standing in front of me, I softly took the youngest Omega's hand. She trembled in fright. "What are you up to, Angel?" Rowan asked.
"From this day forth, Omega's will shift first. I've been watching for a while now and I've seen how everyone treats them. They are just as important to a pack as an Alpha." I paused and gently placed my forehead against the young girls. "Today, you will be the first one to shift, little one." She looked to be no older than 11.
I watched as her eyes lit up and she shifted to a small light grey wolf. She still had some growing to do yet, but I could tell she was going to be strong. After the group of Omegas finished their shift, I allowed the rest to shift leaving just Rowan and I to shift last.
I could hear the murmurs and whispers of the vampires. It was technically an act of rebellion to shift before the leading pair, but as of this night, that was changed. "Ready?" Rowan asked. I nodded and he and I began our shift together. When my shift was done, I heard the vampires gasp in shock, and the pack link went crazy.
I looked over myself when I saw my wolf changing, that was just the beginning. I was now bigger than Rowans wolf. My fur was a bright and glowing silver the spots that were black, were now a beautiful lavender. On my left flank was a design of a spine that wrapped around a dark silver dagger. My wolf spoke now; "We are now called, Silver Spine. The dagger represents the wolves, the spine represents the vampires." Pride was laced in her voice.
I couldn't help but wag my tail. I opened my link to all of the werewolves and vampires. "We are henceforth known as Silver Spine! Neither pack nor clan!" Howls and shouts raised from my people and carried up to the moon above us.
That night, we ran a long the borders of the entire territory. By the time the run was complete, the sun was starting to rise. The vampires gasped when the sun touched their skin and they didn't erupt into flames. I sat on the grass and watched them happily smiling and running around in the sun.
