The day was long after the run with meeting after meeting with our allied packs. All but 2 packs backed out with a fear that we weren't able to be trusted. I had made each of them a promise that if they needed help fighting of Rogues or Hunters, that we would still help them. One of the Alphas that didn't back out, had told me that they had known about me for a long time.
"Tell me Alpha Zeke, why is it that you choose to remain in alliance with us when everyone else had backed out?" I asked, tilting my head in curiosity.
His deep chuckle echoed around the room. "That's simple. My half brother is human. You've already met him, but I've brought him with me in case you don't remember." I furrowed my brow at him. He stood and walked to the door to the office and let his brother in. It was the officer from that awful night! "I see you remember him."
"I do. So this is how you know of us. How is it you are are human, when your half brother if full wolf?"
"Well, that's simple. I was left on our parents doorstep when I was a baby. Our parents took me in and raised me knowing full well that I am human. Zeke here, choose to never call me his adopted brother. So, we both chose to call each other half brothers. Now, for the reason I came here today, I am sad to admit this, but there are no leads or clues to who killed your father. Your alibi checks out, but there's nothing the police force can do now. The coroner is releasing your father's body to you for proper burial tonight after sun down."
I was stunned. There were no leads on who killed him. I felt my wolf grow angry. "His will states that he wishes to be burned by the sun so that his ashes may spread over the world. That will be done tomorrow at high noon. Hold him until then." I felt my heart break all over again. Instantly, Rowan and Simon hugged me. It helped a little, but it still hurt that my father was killed and justice wouldn't be handed to his killer.
"We need to go to the house, Angelina. I feel like there is something there that we can find, but the police can't. We are stronger now. We can get justice for our father." My wolf spoke. Her voice held determination and anger. I knew she was just as hurt as I was, but that didn't stop the anger I heard in her voice.
"I'm afraid I must excuse myself from this meeting. My mates will carry on without me." With that, I left the room.
Quickly, I walked out of the pack house and strait to my old home where my father died. I stopped at the door for Goddess knows how long. I wasn't able to bring myself to open the door. Everytime I tried, I trembled and had to step away. "Miss. Valentine?"
I spun around and looked at who it was that called my name. It was the officer. "Yes, officer?"
"I know it's hard, but you have to go in. You've been standing there for near 30 minutes. If you want, I can come with you."
I gave him a small nod and he opened the door. Dad's scent hit my nose the moment I stepped in. I felt like my knees were about to buckle out from under me. Gentle steady hands grabbed my shoulders. I looked over to see the officer holding my steady. When he felt I was steady enough, he let go. Rowan and Simon more than likely felt another male touch me. Simply because I could feel them grow restless just after being touched. I opened my link to them. "Settle down boys. The officer just steadied me because I almost fell. I'm in my old house now. Dad's scent is still strong in here."
I felt them settle, but they didn't reply. That was okay. They were having meetings and I needed to do this. I looked around. Everything was a mess. There were claw marks in the wall, showing that dad fought with his killer. Pictures were broken and on the floor. There was still a blood stain on the carpet of the living room where dad died. A lump grew in my throat and my eyes burned with unshed tears. I took a shaky breath and kept looking around. I walked into the kitchen and did a double take.
A low growl left my lips. How could I not have smelled it being in the house? It smiled at me. I felt my wolf surge forward, and I struggled to keep her at bay. "Well, well, well. If it isn't the little hybrid daughter." Turned out this thing was male. His voice gave me goosebumps, and not the good kind either. I growled again, this time there was a threat behind my growl. "Oh look at the big bad wolf." He taunted me. "Too bad you aren't strong enough to take me down."
He slid off the island counter and sauntered over toward me. "Who are you and what are you doing in my house?" I growled my question.
He chuckled then pinned me against the kitchen wall with such speed that I couldn't register when he moved. Most say hobgoblins are these short disgusting and smelly creatures, but no. There were actually the same size as an average human. Don't get me wrong, they're still ugly as f**k, but they didn't smell like trash and there definitely not short.
I raised my hand extending my claws and swiped at his face, but at the last second, he caught my hand and pinned it above my head. "Let go of me you disgusting creature!" I spat in his face, literally.
He wiped his free hand over his cheek, collecting my spit then wipes it on my shirt. Gross... "Now now. Don't make me kill you like I killed mommy and daddy."
I growled. "My mother died in a rogue attack!" I wondered why the officer hadn't come to all the sounds coming from the kitchen.
"That human won't save you. He's asleep on the floor. As for your mother, her golden eyes, smooth skin, the mate mark on her neck from your father. She was so fun to torture and slowly disembowel. Oh her screams made my c**k so hard. Her p***y was tight before I destroyed it. My goblins and I had so much fun breaking her soul, her body." He lowered his head and sniffed my neck. "You look a lot like her. I bet you're just as tight as her too."
I growled in anger as I tried to struggle out of his grasp, but he was strong. Strangely strong. It felt like my wrists were going to snap from how hard his grip was.
Before I even knew what was happening, I was stuck with a needle in my neck. I felt my body go weak, but I didn't loose consciousness. I just couldn't move. I tried to reach out to my wolf, but it was like there was a wall between us. "It won't work. I gave you wolfsbane mixed with a drug that paralysis you. You'll be awake and feel everything that I will be doing to you."
I couldn't move anything. I could only blink and look around. Everything else felt like it was just numb. He was right though. I could feel him touching me. He ran his fingers over my cheek. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't even do that. I reached through the mate bond to my mates. Just barely feeling it, I linked them. "Help!" Was all I could get out before the wolfsbane blocked that too.
