When Tara woke up, she felt very tired. She noticed her clothes were dusty and rumpled. She remembers being attacked by a group of werewolves but she didn't know what happened after.
Standing up from the ground appeared an uphill task, as she struggled to do so. After she managed to get up, Tara could barely stand. Her legs were feeble and wobbly. Just then, she saw the blood that trickled down her legs.
Her eyes widened in realization. She understood what had happened. Tara fell back to the ground and bawled her eyes out. It stung her.
Sitting on the floor and holding her head in her hands, Tara began to think she was cursed or something. First getting married to Drew, now this?
Soon, she muscled up enough energy to stand up again and return to Drew's house. On her way back, she checked on the men whom the werewolves attacked. And for the second time in her life, Tara saw a corpse. Only that this time, they were three. It was a horrific sight.
Tara dragged herself back to Drew's house, and from the gate, several guards surrounded her, after seeing the state she was in. After they saw that Tara was not able to talk, the decided to take her to Drew.
When Drew saw them approach him, he showed concern.
“What happened to her?” He barked, rushing towards them. But none of them could answer him.
Quickly, he called a doctor and asked that she be taken to an empty room and laid on the bed to rest.
In her state, wondered why Drew suddenly became concerned about what happened to her. She hasn't told anyone that she was r***d by a group of werewolves yet.
When the doctor arrived, he went to the room where Tara was laid, to attend to her. After an hour or two, he came out with a slumped posture and a gloomy expression on his face.
“What happened to her?” Drew barked at him. Seeing Tara hurt appeared to have stirred up some emotions.
Clearing his throat before he spoke, “well from the basic tests I conducted, it appears she was r***d” the doctor replied calmly.
Drew lost it.
He dashed into the room where Tara was and began asking questions about the werewolves that assaulted her.
“Who did this to you?” He asked Tara, shouting at the top of his voice. He looked like he was ready to kill the werewolves who attacked her.
“I couldn't see their faces” Tara answered in a soft voice. She was surprised by Drew's sudden show of concern.
“Where did this happen?” Drew continued asking questions, maintaining his tone.
“Not too far from the house I think” Tara said “I was taking a stroll when I was ambushed, alongside some of your men.” she added
“Where are my men now?” Troy asked, lowering his voice.
“They……..they're dead” Tara replied with a shaky voice, stammering as she did. She was fighting back tears.
Drew was enraged. But before he could say anything he was interrupted by the doctor. “I still need to conduct a few more tests” he said, ushering Drew out of the room.
Marching out of the room, an enraged Drew started giving orders to his remaining men.
He was putting together a small group to go after the werewolves who assaulted Tara.
“Find every werewolf in the vicinity. I want names and faces” Drew commanded, his voice cold and simmering with a barely contained fury. “No stone unturned. You hear me?” he thundered
The men nodded, immediately dispersing to carry out his orders, while Drew’s fists clenched at his sides. He couldn’t remember the last time he felt so helpless and angry all at once.
This attack wasn’t just a violation of his territory; it was an assault on his wife—someone who was his responsibility, no matter the strained circumstances between them. He gritted his teeth, realizing with a pang that her suffering was something he couldn't undo. But he could, and would, make the ones responsible pay.
As the doctor continued his examination, Tara lay still on the bed, staring at the ceiling, her mind replaying the events she could barely piece together. Every fragment she remembered clawed at her, the horror of it far too real.
She thought back to the three men she’d seen dead on her way back to the house, their lifeless bodies were scattered across the floor.
Outside the room, Drew was waiting restlessly, pacing back and forth. He was worried.
Suddenly, Tara noticed the puzzled look on the face of the doctor and before she could ask questions, he bolted out of the room.
She tried to stand up and go after him, but she was too tired to do so. She only managed to sit up on the bed, but soon after, she returned to lying. Her back was killing her.
Why her? She thought, why she the one chosen to be attacked and molested?
Her heart raced at she awaited the return of the doctor. The look on his face could tell that something was wrong.
She soon heard the sound of footsteps approaching the room, and soon, the door creaked open once more, and the doctor returned with a small, somber expression.
"Tara, I need to discuss something with you," he said gently.
Tara nodded slowly. “okay” she said. She wondered what could make him this jittery.
“I conducted some more tests” he said “and after reviewing the results, I can tell you that you're still in good health despite your wounds.”
“Okay” she said, nodding her head slowly, signaling to him to continue.
“How ever, the tests revealed something else.” He continued.
Tara's heart sank. She had an idea of what He was about to say, but she hoped he'd say something else.
The doctor paused, collecting his thoughts before he spoke. "The man who r***d you must've spent a lot of time before letting you go.. I'm afraid you're pregnant, Tara."
