The Light of Darkness

"Miss Isaacs would you care to tell me what is bothering you, since you seem to be deeply disturbed?" I hear Professor Hill say causing me to snap my attention to the front of the lecture hall. Hi I'm Lina Isaacs and up until this moment I thought I was just an ordinary girl. Turns out my whole life is about to change. You see there I was just sitting there minding my own business listening to Professor Hill ramble on about the mid term essays that are due in two weeks when I got this strange sensation radiating all over my body. I looked at my hands to see what was going on and it looked as if they were glowing. I shoved them in my hoodie pocket and started looking around violently to make sure no one saw. "Oh I'm fine Professor. I just felt tired is all, I'm trying to stay awake so I don't miss anything about mid terms." I replied after a few seconds. As soon as we were released I ran straight home and went to my room. My parents work from home so my dad heard me and came to check on me and when I told him he just looked at me like I was crazy. I called for my mom who came in and sat next to me. My dad explained to her what I had just told him and she got this look in her eyes that said she knew what was happening. After a few minutes of silence she finally spoke. "I knew this was coming but it wasn't supposed to happen for another week. I'm sorry sweetheart I should have told you sooner." "tell me what mom why were my hands glowing and why did I have a tingling sensation all over my body? what's going on?" I spat quickly. She took a deep breath and asked my dad to leave us alone for a few minutes before looking at me with a serious expression in her face. I knew then something big was at hand. once my dad left the room mom took both of my hands in hers and sighed which rang with hesitation. with tear already in her eyes I could tell she was afraid. "Mom please just tell me what's going on?" I asked trying not to sound so scared. With a deep breath she began. " Well sweetheart along time ago when I was about 16 I became what is known as a Fairy Guardian, We were an army of Non-Fairies who would guard and protect Faries from those who thought them to be evil. I was assigned to the castle guarding the new baby Princesses nursery when a fire broke out in the main hall way just out side the queen's chambers. she screamed and screamed for me to take her daughter some where safe that no one would ever think to look." My mom froze as tears streamed down her face. I could tell she was in a lot of pain . "Mom you don't have to tell me this if you don't...." " But I have to sweetheart you were going to find out eventually." she stated looking up at my now watery eyes. "Mom are you saying I'm not just a Fairy but I'm royal?" I asked baffeled at what got from reading between the lines. " Yes, I was assigned by the Queen your real mother to protect you so I did the best I could, I raised you as my own." I just stared at her, I couldn't believe what she was saying. "Why are my powers just now Manifesting if I am a fairy?" I asked unsure of what else to say. " Well at the first sign of you gaining your powers I took you to your Grandmother who surpressed your powers for a short while until it was safe for me to tell you who you really are. And now that you know I think it's time we paid her a visit." mom stated as she got up from my bed, she walked to the door and turned to look at me. " I know this is a lot to take in Lina and I didn't have much time to prepare you nor myself for what you are fixing to go through. I understand if you are upset and confused but you need to pack. I'm calling the Deans office tomorrow and letting him know we've had a family emergency that you will be out for a few months that way you can do your school online. I will give you time to process but I would like to leave as soon as possible." I just nodded as if to agree and turned away. Once she left the room I changed in to some sweats and a fresh hoodie climbed into bed and laid there until I fell asleep. I woke up some time later to my dad yelling for my mom to get me out of the house now and hurry, I jumped up and opened my door to see a man standing there about to bust it down. I gasped as fear ran through my body. My powers were just now starting to manifest after years of being surpressed and I had no idea how to control them. "Run Lina" I heard my mom say from down the hall "Run and don't look back" she screamed as the man lunged forward I don't know how I did it but it's as if my powers knew exactly what to do and I managed to get by him and ran straight for my mom. "Go to the basement Lina there's a trunk open it and get the map it has your grandmother's number in it. there's a pocketbook full of cash underneath it, buy a new phone and leave yours in the trashcan. shatter it if you can. No one can find you where she is. Hurry Lina we can't keep them off much longer." and with that I bolted down to the basement grabbed the map and pocketbook out and jumped in my dad's truck. as I sped off I couldn't help but think to myself, "just 6 hours ago I was normal, now I'm a royal fairy who don't know how to use her powers, running from bad guys to find a woman I don't know..." Before I left town I stopped at the gas station filled up the truck and shattered my cellphone by "dropping" it on the floor while paying. as I left town I sped up and I never looked back. I was terrified to know what happened and who those people were. I just needed to focus on getting a new phone and calling this grandmother I didn't know about until today. "what a wonderful day"!!
