Shane hated the idea of anyone else watching over Julie for some reason. Rationally, he knew that any of his teammates would give their lives to ensure their charges were safe; Reynolds would not have recruited them otherwise.
But Julie was different from any other charges. Julie was theirs to protect, and Shane would make sure she was. If he couldn't, the best way to do that was to ensure Dax stayed with her.
"Keep our girl safe," Shane reminded him unnecessarily.
"Yeah," Dax replied before hanging up.
"What now?" Evan asked as he took his phone back.
"Now we get the info we need," Shane told him as he pushed away from the wall.
Evan gave him a look. "Shouldn't we wait for Reynolds? He won't take kindly to us disobeying another direct order."
