Chapter 20: Flying and Landing
May 6. On the night before they fly to Florida, the packing for Pine Island comes easy for Jason: shorts, sandals, a sunhat that he uses in the garden during the summer months, and one flamingo-covered dress shirt that Dillon hates and calls him a flamer when he wears the piece of clothing, and suntan and bug sprays. He’s learned how to pack light after traveling throughout the years. The lighter the better, he knows. Only two items should be carried on the plane: a single bag with tightly rolled clothes inside, and one paperback novel with (usually) over five hundred pages; a read that should last him maybe two and half days (he’ll by a second and third read while on the island).
