Chapter 6

1330 Words
Slowly, I start to calm down, Grace is on my right, holding my hand and wiping tears from my face, Theo is on my left holding my other hand and Hugo, the doctor and a young nurse are stood at the foot of the bed. Everyone is looking at me with what looks like concern and pity and I can hear Grace trying to soothe me, saying it’s okay and that I’m safe. I look at Theo and plead with him not to call father, “it’s ok” he says “I was just going to call my Beta that’s all, I promise that man will never hurt you again, if it will help you feel better I will stay in the room while I call him so you can hear their is nothing to fear” “o-ok” I say still sobbing a little. As Grace continues trying to soothe me and dry my tears Theo makes his call, “Kyle, good news she is awake”, “yes it is amazing”, she has told us her name is summer, she is 17 and has two brothers LJ short for Lucifer Junior and Lucian” she lived with them and her father, no mother, her father and brothers are the ones who abused her, she escaped from them about 2 weeks before we found her and has never met anyone else”, “yes it does sound like them, find out as much as you can about them but don’t tell them where she is”, yes, Keep me posted, Bye.” Theo tells me about Kyle’s investigations and what he discovered about the shadow pack, it does sound like father and my brother’s although I have never heard of the shadow pack or the Alpha, he assures me they will make sure they don’t find me here and that he is determined to ensure they pay for what they did to me. Just then nurse Martha comes in with a tray and sits it on the trolley table then walks over and helps me sit up, once I am comfortable she pushes the trolley into place and I see on the tray there is a bowl of soup. Sandwiches, fruit, a cup of tea, a glass of milk, a bottle of water and some biscuits, I look at nurse Martha feeling a little unsure, “i-is all t-this for m-me? I ask “yes honey and there’s plenty more where that came from as well? She says, looking at the tray I pick up the spoon and try the soup, it’s delicious and creamy, chicken and mushroom flavour, after a few more spoonfuls of soup I take a bite from one of the sandwiches, it’s ham salad and very tasty, I wash it down with some milk “this is very nice, thank you nurse Martha” I say, “you’re welcome honey and please just call me Martha” she says “ok I reply and continue eating. I finish the soup, milk and tea and half the sandwich, I’m feeling very full now and have been for a little while but don’t want to get into trouble for wasting food, “Have you had enough dear? Grace asks, I slowly nod my head and Martha comes over and takes the tray, “she hasn’t eaten much” states Theo, that’s perfectly normal” says Martha “because she isn’t used to having food her stomach can’t handle it but don’t worry that will change and she will slowly get her appetite back in time. Martha places the fruit, water and biscuits on the trolley and says “I will leave these here for you incase you want them later.” “Ok thank you” I say and she leaves the room. I look around and notice a bed on the other side of the room that looks like it has been slept in, I ask Grace about it and she tells me that Theo has been using it and that he hasn’t left the room since I got there except to use the bathroom, I look at Theo and he gives me a cautious smile, I ask when I will be discharged from the hospital? and what will happen to me then? And Theo tells me about the room he has had prepared for me and that it is up to the doctor when I can leave. We talk for a while longer and they ask me more about my past and my family. Then I start feeling really sleepy and Grace helps me to lie down and tells me to rest, it’s not long before I’m asleep again. Theo’s POV Hearing what those b*****ds did to Summer made me so angry it was hard to not let the anger show in front of Summer but I had to hide it so she wouldn’t have another panic attack. I am pacing the room now, Jet and I both agitated and eager to go kill somebody but I need to be here for Summer. Doctor Harland comes in with the Blood results and confirms there is significant improvement and that she she should be able to be discharged in a few days but she will need to gain a little more strength first and also show that she is able to use the toilet, “Great, that’s amazing news Thank you Doctor”. Kyle calls to say he has spoken with Alpha Seth Douglas and discussed the new information with him, he tells me Alpha Seth has agreed to assist with the investigation and see what he can find in the pack records and hospital records, he has promised to be as discrete as possible and keep us updated, all I can do now is wait for news. With Summer sleeping and no news yet, Mum and Dad go home to get some sleep and I get changed and climb into bed. As I lay there I look over at my luna, she looks so peaceful as she sleeps and I wish I could slip in beside her and hold her to me but I know she isn’t ready for that and probably won’t be for a while. A couple of hours later I am still lay awake with too much going through my mind, vision’s haunting me of the horrors Summer has been through, plans on how I can get revenge for her and what I can do to keep her safe in the meantime and what I can do to show her she can trust us when I hear her moaning in her sleep, I sit up immediately and she is turning her head left and right frantically and starts saying “NO NO NO”, realising she is having a nightmare I rush over to her and take her hand “Summer, Summer it’s ok” I say to her calmly “NO No Please No” she’s crying out “it’s ok Summer, I’m here, you’re safe” I say trying not to cry myself whilst trying to gently wake her up, then she starts screaming and screaming and flailing her arms around and I frantically call out for help scared that she could hurt herself. Moments later nurses rush into the room and over to the bed, I tell them she was having a nightmare and step back so they can help her. They start talking to her trying to calm her and one of them gives her an injection, after this she starts to calm down and seems to fall back into a peaceful sleep. The nurses then approach me who I now recognise as sisters Shiela and Tina, Shiela explains to me that this is quite normal for a trauma patient and that they have given her a sedative that should help her sleep through the rest of the night.
