Summer’s pov

Riverside park is beautiful, we are sat in the shade of a tree by the river enjoying our picnic with sandwiches, a fruit salad, crisps, cakes and a homemade fruit punch, Sofia and Leah tell me the stories of how they became mated to the Beta and Gamma. Sofia and Kyle have known each other their whole lives, they where born just 2 weeks apart and went to school together, Kyles dad was the former Beta which is the tradition and Sofia’s parents are Rose and Douglas the pack house cook and groundskeeper who both worked in the pack house since they were 16/17 starting as assistants. Sofia said she had always secretly fancied Kyle growing up but as an Omega never thought she would be mated to a beta, after discovering they where mates Sofia was over the moon but Kyle was caught at first, he had been dating the daughter of the beta in another pack and thought she was going to be his mate, when he picked up Sofia’s scent she was in her wolf form in the woods he walked up to her, looked into her eyes and felt the bond, he placed one hand on the side of her head and as they both felt the bond Sophia shifted back to her human form and as she stood in front of him completely naked said “mate” expecting him to say it back but instead he had a sad look in his eyes, as he looked her over then turned around and walked away, Sofia couldn’t believe it and just stood there for awhile in shock trying to figure out if she had done something wrong, she spent the rest of the day and that night in her room crying not wanting to talk to anyone, the next morning Kyle came to her room and explained that before he could do anything he needed to tell his girlfriend he had been torn because he wanted his mate but didn’t want to cheat, after talking on the phone for hours they agreed to end the relationship so they could be with their mates, they shared their first kiss then but she decided to make him pay by refusing to mate with him for a month after. Leah was from a different pack where her father was the Delta, she met Louis when he was visiting on pack business just after he became Gamma, Leah had been a virgin waiting for her mate but Louis had been a bit of a male tart having one night stands whenever he got the chance although never actually dating anyone, Louis had been chatting up a girl when he picked up his mates scent and ditched the girl to go in search of her, as soon as their eyes met they both said “mate” at the same time, Louis then pulled Leah into his arms and kissed her passionately, they went straight to Leah’s room and wasted no time mating, 2 days later when it was time for Louis to come home Leah came with him. “Weren’t you scared” I ask her “leaving your pack to be with a man you just met?” “No, that’s how it works with werewolves, when two mates from different packs find each other one of them usually the female changes pack to be with their mate, a mate is nothing to fear they are there to love us and protect us no matter what” “yeah that’s what Theo said” “how are things going between you two?” Sophia asks “ok I think, he has been really nice to me, we talked a lot yesterday and I agreed to give him a chance if we can take things slow” “so has he told you about Leo?” “Yeah, he said that they are identical twins and about the business and about their sister and that they are coming home tomorrow” “is that all he told you about them?” “Yes, why?” They give each other a strange look then Sofia says “oh nothing I was just wondering, have you had enough to eat?” “Yes, thank you” “great, then how about we help you back into your chair and go for a walk?, we could show you around town” “yeah sounds good, although I can’t wait to get these casts of so I can walk again” “go to the hospital then” “what do you mean go to the hospital? I only left there yesterday, and where have you been all this time?” “I have been busy healing you, your bones are healed enough for the casts to come off now” “they are? Really?” “Yes really, it has taken a little longer because we were weak but we are strong enough now” “great, do you know what they are hiding about this Leo?” “I think I do yes, we will know for sure when we meet him tomorrow but all I will say for now is don’t worry I promise you everything will be ok” “ umm, girls, can we head to the hospital please?” “ yes, of course, is everything ok? Were you talking to your wolf just now?” “Yes, everything is fine she just told me that my bones have healed” “ok that’s great, let’s go then” “I will let Theo know” adds Sophia “no not yet, I want to surprise him” “ok then, let’s go” they help me into my chair for hopefully the last time then clear up the picnic things.

At the hospital I explain to Dr Harland what Celestia said, he does some x-rays which confirm the bones are healed and removes the casts and splint. After the doctor does a few more checks we leave the hospital and head to the pack house,it feels good to be walking again.

The walk back takes about an hour and half, arriving home we decide to go to the kitchen for a drink, Rose is in there with her assistants preparing dinner so we just grab 3 cans of pop from the fridge and head back to the foyer. There are a few people hanging around chatting “who are all these people?” I ask “oh, just pack members” says Leah, “most of them are ok” adds Sofia “most of them? Are there some that aren’t then?” “ you see that group of girls down there near the main door? They can be trouble at times, the blond one on the right wearing the tight shorts and crop top that’s Britney she’s a self untitled brat who thinks the world revolves around her and the others follow her like sheep, she keeps coming round her trying to get the alphas to notice her and throwing herself at them but they just find her annoying, if she gives you any problems just tell us or Theo and she will be dealt with” “oh, umm ok then”.

Just then I’m hit with the scent of chocolate and coffee and turn round to see Theo walking towards me, “Summer, what’s going on? Where are your casts?” I explain everything and that I wanted to surprise him then he pulls me into a hug with a huge smile on his face, just then I hear cars pulling up outside and everyone starts rushing and talking as a few people are coming in but I don’t hear a word being said because I’m suddenly hit with the new scent of cinnamon and vanilla, I turn to look in the direction of the scent and my eyes meet with a man who looks exactly like Theo, just as he starts walking towards us with an intense look in his eyes I hear Celestia say “mate”.
