Chapter 59 The Russian and Turkish Special Forces teams meet at the St. Francis Church in Aleppo. They tell the parish priest that they need to examine the basement. The priest leads the way, and the officers discover a locked door. The priest explains that President Hassan keeps his most prized possessions there. He doesn’t have a key and has never seen inside. A couple of soldiers break down the door and uncover an underground tunnel that leads to a cavern split into six rooms filled with vast stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons. A track runs down the center of the underground cavern. Piles of rock at the sides of the rails indicate the cave was originally used for mining phosphate.
