To Run From One Hell To Another
As she ran, Lillian could hear the voices echoing in her head as they whispered incoherently. She could feel the shivers running down her spine as the wind blew her hair back and though she was tired, she was exhilarated that she could no longer hear the trampling footsteps behind her.
She could smell victory and unknowingly it caused the corners of her lips to curve upward. The guards had no doubt stopped their chasing the moment she entered the Trauma Forest which was well known for the admission of patients to the main mental institution.
Though she was apart of the institution, she had never ran through the crevices of this forest before now. She eventually stop running, allowing herself to catch her breath, but is cautioned by the jagged edges of the stone on which she stood.
However, it wasn't the eerily quiet forest that had done it for her, nor the way the sky darkened above the tall trees, but it was the iron-like grip that she suddenly felt on her shoulder. Turning to face her captive, she is met by nothing but an empty forest as the trees disappear. The hold on her shoulder only increases as it pushing her down, which causes her to crumble to her knees.
The minute she is on her knees, she hears them, more coherent than they have ever been.
"Knees crushing grass, silence sharp as glass, eyes rimmed with tears, she who bows, hears."
