IN BETWEEN

Jane stood up in front of her parent's coffin, tears streaming down her cheeks as she slowly moved closer to the coffin. “You can't just leave me like this mum and dad.I love you, please! come back to me”. she said as she was trying to open the coffin. Her father's brother (Mr. Robert) quickly rushed to stop her, saying in his loudest voice ”Jane stop! They are gone and gone forever, death is inevitable.” Jane looked at Mr Robert disgustingly and said “death is inevitable,why didn't you die instead ? ” “Jane,you need to understand what I am saying,I am not happy with this sudden death, remember your father was my brother and I also love him so much,” he said calmly. “I don't care what you mean but nobody should stop me from doing it because I want to see my parent’s body,” she screamed, her voice breaking. Mr. Robert sighed heavily. “you are doing too much jane. They are not even your biological parents, you need to understand that”. Jane was beyond reasoning. She had always been a loving daughter to her parents and they shared loving memories together. She couldn't believe what Mr. Robert said. “They are my biological parents’; I won't believe you ! ”, she yelled, sobbing. Mr. Robert said to her; “Jane you need to understand that they are not your biological parents," he said pointing at the coffin. Jane slowly sat down on the floor, she looked straight into Mr. Robert eyes with tears rolling down her cheeks, saying “ why are you telling me this now? Are you trying to get me killed? This is too much for me to handle. please tell me this is a lie! She said as she held his leg. Mr. Robert held her by her cloth even more closer this time saying “Jane darling, I have no reason to lie to you, they are truly not your biological parents. Jane stood up from the ground and started heading towards the direction of her parent's coffin again with tears rolling down her cheeks,she said “ why did you do this to me? Why didn't you tell me you were not my biological parents and you have to let me go through this pain now?” Her friend Ella came in right in time, she looked around for her and she saw that she was with her parent's coffin, she rushed in to console her saying “ Jane don't do this to yourself, you still have people that loves you as much as they do, Jane looked into Ella’s eyes and burst into tears, Ella pulled her closed and hugged her whispering into her ear saying “ everything is gonna be fine” and she lifted her up and they left to get dressed for the burial ceremony. Jane sat down on the bed and her friend Ella also sat down beside her. Ella noticed something wasn't right with Jane so she asked “Jane are you okay?or is there anything you wanna tell me? Jane began to stutter”I….I…um..um..,and she finally found a word “Ella i’m okay just that i’m still in shock”,Ella moved close to Jane and gave her a hug saying “you will be fine darling. Jane told Ella that she wants to be left alone”Ella can you please leave the room,I need a little privacy”. “I am your friend Jane, you can do whatever you want to do right here in my presence Ella said jokingly”. “Ella, do you think I am joking right now?pls leave the room right away, I'm mourning my parents and is it a joke to you?,” she yelled. “I’m sorry Jane I will leave right away, just make sure you are fine and you can call me if you need anything “Ella said calmly as she opened the door and went outside. Jane stood up from the bed and peeped through the window to check if Ella had truly gone, when she had confirmed that Ella has gone.she went straight into the kitchen and she picked a knife and she pointed the knife towards the direction of her parents picture,she started stabbing the picture as she cried bitterly saying “you don't have to make me go through this pain now,my life is already shattered without you in it and now you are not my biological parents? Why didn't you tell me? Why did you lie to me? ” Jane began to disorganize the room,she began to scatter everywhere,she destroyed the television set in the room,she picked the knife and she was about stabbing herself when Mr.Robert entered. “Jane have you gone mad? Drop the knife right now” said Mr. Robert as he was trying to move closer to Jane. “Don't move closer or I will stab myself to death this minute and why are you trying to stop me? i have nothing to live for anymore. “Jane you need to understand that we can't hold two funeral at a time,if you want to commit suicide,not now my darling”he said, as he walked away Jane was very shocked at her uncle's response and reaction towards the situation,she slowly dropped the knife and sat down on the floor crying. Soon,Ella entered the room and found that all the room was in a mess,she moved closer to Jane saying “ Jane what in heaven's name happened here? You've got to be kidding me jane,why would you do something like this? Is this why you sent me out of the room? ” “Ella shut up !!, Jane yelled, leave me alone,why are you all acting as if you care when you actually don't”. “ Jane you know I love you so much am just looking out for you that all, I’m sorry”. Ella said as she hugged jane. “Ella, can we get out of here? I'm not comfortable staying here anymore” Jane said. “jane what do you mean by you are not comfortable staying at your own parent's funeral anymore” Ella asked with curiosity on her face “Ella let's just get out here,am not just comfortable here anymore” Jane said as she reached to get her shoes. “Jane I hope this is right and are you sure you are thinking about this very well , Jane this is your parent's funeral we are talking about and it will be very wrong of you not to show them their last respect,it is very wrong Jane” “And who asked for your advise miss”Jane said. “Jane you know am just looking out for you as a friend and you know I always want the best for you” Ella said with a calm voice. Jane picked up the car key and was about to head out of the room when she noticed Ella wasn't following,she said “ why are you standing there? let's go” Ella had no other option than to follow her,she was very confused at the time but she had to follow Jane. As Jane and Ella stepped out the room, people started throwing questions at Jane saying “jane where are you going?” “Your parent's funeral is getting started in few minutes” “Is she not listening to us?” Jane didn't give any reply to the questions thrown at her, she opened the car and started the engine then she zoomed off. Ella out of curiosity asked, “Jane where are we headed to”. Jane answered Ella “where else? my house of course”. Finally, Jane and Ella got home, as Jane was about to open the door she found a letter at her door step.
