Chapter 33 The National Treasure: The Iron Credential for Forgiveness

1308 Words
“Uncle Quincy! Grandpa! Just leave the i***t here. Let’s get to our business!” Carl started again, but Clare stopped him with her gaze. “Can’t you stop saying that?” “Uh.” Carl was surprised. “Clare, we can’t allow him to do that even if we got money!” Natalie pouted her mouth and shook Clare’s hand. Clare patted her sister’s hand and looked toward Vincent somehow. The latter nodded and confirmed with his eyes once again. Matthew also looked at Vincent blankly, frowning and wondering what Vincent was thinking. But he didn’t say anything more because Vincent was as confident as he was when he treated Clare before. Not to mention Senior Mr. Quincy trusted Vincent very much and was glad to buy it for him even if the inkstone was a waste. Given what Vincent had brought to his family and what he had just said, Matthew was determined to buy him the inkstone as a gift. “Just buy it. Don’t waste our time!” Senior Mr. Quincy shouted at Matthew. The latter nodded obediently and then asked Lowrance, “Mr. Lowrance, is it still working that you would give the inkstone to us as a gift if we spend more than 150,000 here?” “Of course, it’s the rule set by the firm, not me.” Lowrance smiled. “Okay, then. We’ll take the tea set. Get it packed and have the check.” Matthew nodded and took out his bank card directly. “I’m on it, sir!” Lowrance was delighted and hurriedly summoned a staff who wore white gloves, taking the tea set and the ugly inkstone from the glass cabinet carefully before putting them into different well-protected brocade boxes. Then he took the pose machine so that Matthew could pay the bill. After Matthew paid and signed, Lowrance got the boxes and gave them. The deal was done. Lowrance smiled and bowed to them, “Thank you for your coming. Come again! Have a good day!” Lowrance was glad to be able to get large commissions from the deal. Matthew nodded, but Vincent hugged the ugly inkstone box in his arms impatiently as if it were a priceless treasure. Thanks to his behavior, the crowd teased him again. Even Carl joined them this time and cursed him “You punk i***t”. Senior Mr. Quincy couldn’t stand Carl, so he stared at him and blamed, “Do you know what you are talking about?” “I’m talking about him, Grandpa!” Carl pointed at Vincent with a look of indignation, “Grandpa, why are you spoiling him all the time? He’s just a fake grandson-in-law anyway. He’s no match for me to be honest!” “So, he is an i***t son-in-law?!” The crowd roared with laughter. Matthew and Natalie were so embarrassed that they would like to disappear immediately, while Clare frowned and whispered to Vincent, “Why are you still standing here? Hurry! Let’s go!” Vincent, however, had got enough of their laughter and was annoyed, so he looked around and then looked at Lowrance. “Mr. Lowrance, now that we’ve paid for this and the deal is done, does it mean we can deal with these at our will?” “Sure, of course. But we don’t accept returns. If you can prove any of it to be fake, however, we’ll triple the price to pay for your loss,” Lowrance said so as if he was afraid that they might regret it. Vincent nodded, “What if... you underestimate the value of the object? What do you usually do under such occasions?” The crowd was astonished for a moment and then realized what he might mean, so they mocked him again. “You mean underestimate such ugly stuff? They’d like to give it to you for free, okay? Stop your dreaming!” Lowrance also shook his head, “We have to take it as our loss then. The buyers win. But I don’t believe such a thing would really happen. Just for you to know, our appraisers are all five-star and they all share good relationships with several large museums in our country...” Before he stopped mocking, Vincent beckoned him to stop, looked around at the crowd, and then sneered, “My advice, either shut your mouth and go on with your shopping or get your ass back home, especially those with heart diseases...” “What?!” Everyone was dumbfounded, and they didn’t understand what the i***t meant by saying so. “Vincent, what are you talking about?!” Senior Mr. Quincy couldn’t help warning him to stop him from being rude. Matthew, Clare, and Natalie also frowned, and Carl rolled his eyes and muttered, “What’s your trick this time?!” What Vincent did in the next second surprised them all! Without hesitation, Vincent took the inkstone from the brocade box directly, and then he took a look at it before smashed it on the ground to everyone’s consternation. “What are you doing?!” Although Senior Mr. Quincy and Matthew yelled out, they got no time to stop him. “Crack!!!” The ugly inkstone was suddenly smashed into pieces, and then a thin curved iron plate that shared a similar size with a phone popped out. “Clang, clang!” It bounced on the ground a few times and lay among the fragments of the ugly inkstone. Under the lightmapping in the lobby of the firm, the arc-shaped iron plate and the glazed jewels on it suddenly glowed with amazing brilliance. “Hiss~!!!” Everyone was shocked and gathered around. The staff of the firm, including Lowrance, also looked at those on the ground in disbelief. People coming to this place were kind of knowledgeable of these antiques. Right now, they just witnessed the iron plate coming out of the ugly inkstone. “This is!!” Everyone craned their necks, trying to take a closer look at it! The Quincy family stood there, dumb folded, failing to gather their thoughts to figure out what had just happened. Vincent bent over and picked up the curved iron plate from the fragments, wiped it, blew a bit, and then looked at it carefully. That was exactly what he had seen with his power before! He couldn’t help smiling, showing it around while saying, “I might be a fool in your eyes, but the fool... is able to see this through...” “Oh, my Gosh! Isn’t it... The Iron Credential for Forgiveness?!!” An old man in Tang suit suddenly shouted, put on his reading glasses, and walked towards Vincent tremblingly. “What?! The Iron Credential for Forgiveness?!” Everyone was shocked, and then more people gathered there. They might be all experts, but most of them only had heard of it before, not seen it. Lowrance also took off his sunglasses, rubbed his sly eyes, and was attracted to approach them. “Alas! The iron is hidden inside the inkstone! What amazing work to cover it up!” The old man rummaged in the fragments of the inkstone and then looked at the stuff in Vincent’s hand, praising repeatedly. “Mister, are you saying...” Lowrance asked tremblingly. “Don’t you have experts here? Go get them here! Be quick!” Someone urged. “That’s right! Hurry up!” Lowrance roared at the staff beside him, “Go get them here now!”
