CHAPTER 4 “I need the kitchen and main areas cleaned and prepared. The Alpha King will be here soon.” The Luna ordered. “Sasha I need you to take care of the chefs. As you’re the next Luna, you need to show your role in this pack.” Luna Emily explained. Chandra gritted her teeth, holding tightly on the book she read all night. By what she read, she should’ve been the one taking care of the chefs, not Sasha. ‘Just wait till I find you.’ Chandra thought determined. “Where is Eric? Please don’t tell me he’s training near the forest again.” Luna Emily groaned. “Hmm. Oh! Chandra! If you’re free, can you go and get him, he needs to be ready and presentable when the Alpha King arrives.” “Of course.” Chandra smiled, standing up from her seat and placing her empty coffee cup in the sink. Chandra went out in the fields, following the scent of Eric’s aroma. And there he was, leaning on a tree. Sleeping soundly with no worries. “Eric?” Chandra asked, causing Eric to snap he’s eyes open. “Chandra?” The girl only nodded, feeling awkward once again. “Your mother asked me to get you, there’s a lot you have to do before the Alpha King arrives.” Chandra explained. Eric only groaned at her words, sliding a hand through his light brown hair. “Won’t you sit with me? Just a for a little bit?” Eric asked with pleading eyes. “No.” Chandra responded. Eric looked upset, hurt even by her short cut response. “I guess that’s fair.” He replied, getting up from he’s laying position. But before Eric could walk past her, and leave her alone. Chandra held the back of he’s shirt. Making Eric’s whole body freeze. “I need to say something first, so give me a sec.” Eric looked down at the beautiful girl, raising a brow in confusion. “Please?” Eric sighed. But let out a smile and nodded. “I don’t really know it word for word, so I might have to say it a couple of times before it works.” Chandra explained, but Eric only seemed more confused. “Where is it.” Chandra mumbled to herself, flipping through the book of wolves the Alpha gave her. “Oh! Here it is!” “I, Chandra daughter of the moon Queen. Reject you Eric, soon to be Alpha of the- Wait. What’s your pack again?” Eric’s eyes went wide, he didn’t know which to question first. The fact that Chandra was the daughter of Selene, or that he was being rejected. Or maybe both. That he was being rejected by the moon princess. “What are you doing!?” Eric snapped at her. Snatching the book from her small hands, and throwing it away in the trees. “What are you-“ “How could you try and reject me? Your mate!” Chandra then felt confused, but then taken by anger. “Reject? You took another as your other half! I’m just trying to free myself from you!” Eric felt pained by her last words. But he’s pain soon turned to anger as he glared coldly at her. “Well good luck with that. You don’t even know how to wear shoes let alone remember a rejection quote.” He sneered at her. But Chandra scrunched her face up at him, her nose all scrunched as her brows knitted together. But her eyes, her eyes let out a tear of pain. He was right, she was stupid. She didn’t know anything. And the fact everyone kept bringing up shoes just kept frustrating her. “Yeah, well. I don’t care!” Chandra yelled back, wiping away her tear in anger before storming off. But she stopped and turned back, grabbing the book off the ground. Then turned to Eric once more before leaving to the pack house. “Your mother’s waiting for you. So if your late, it’s on you! Not me!” She then stormed off in a grumpy walk as she fisted her hands. Eric felt guilty for making her upset, but it was better then letting her go through with her rejection. ‘I need to fix this.’ He thought to himself. Eric then lazily walked back to the pack house. His hands in he’s pockets as he felt his mind go into a turmoil. ******** “Stand up straight, the King will be through those door any second.” Luna Emily said to Eric. Chandra stole a glance at Eric, only to feel her cheeks burn at the sight of him already staring at her. Chandra threw her gaze to her feet. Still bare as the day she arose from the lake. “Please, welcome to Night Owl pack.” Alpha John greeted. “This is my mate, Luna Emily. My daughter, Polly, and the future Alpha, my son. Eric, and he’s mate Sasha.” Alpha John introduced. Everyone bowed. Until Alpha John turned his attention to Chandra. “So this must be Chandra.” The low baron tone was heard, which caused shivers through Chandra. Chandra looked up, connecting her gaze with the King. “And you must be the Alpha King.” Chandra replied equally as strong. The Alpha King chuckled, smirking at the girls response. “I like this one, she’s not like the others.” The King spoke. Alpha John smiled at his response. “There’s more to her then meets the eye.” Alpha John explained with a proud smile. The King nodded, smiling at Chandra with an emotion in his eyes she couldn’t understand. “Please follow me into the my office, we have much to discuss.” Alpha John explained. Chandra watched them as they walked up the stairs. Watching Eric’s back as he followed behind all the important men. “Come on dear, it’s time to get you ready.” Luna Emily explained as she pushed Chandra upstairs as well. “Ready?” Chandra asked, but Luna Emily on chuckled. “Dear, you are next in for a meeting with the King. And-“ Luna Emily looked sheepishly. “You don’t really have the right, uh. How do I say this. Attire?” Chandra looked down at her dress, to her toes. She then sighed loudly as she let her head fall back. “Does it have to do with shoes?” Chandra asked, peeking at Luna Emily who tried not to look guilty. “Come on dear, it’s only for today.”
