Ethan's POV
"We just got word that she was seen heading in the direction of the woods." Lucas informs me and I circle back to my desk.
"Round up some soldiers and search the woods.“ Lucas looks like he's about to protest but he understands the gravity of the situation and just nods.
I slowly take a seat whilst moving both hands over my face. I probably look like I'm losing my s***t but I don't care.
"They'll find her, she couldn't have gone that far." Logan who is standing at the far end of the room assures me.
Gosh I feel like punching something. It's a good thing he's far away.
"But why would she run away?" He asks and I look up at him.
"I don't know. I found her scared on the bathroom floor and the next minute she wanted to get far away from me as possible." He creases his forehead but believe me he's not as confused as I am.
I need answers, but most importantly I need to make sure she is safe.
"Did you guys fight?“ I look at him again but this time annoyed.
"No, we didn't fight." I almost yell at him so I pause and take in a deep breath.
"Well why would she want to be far away from you as possible?" He asks and I feel like punching him.
Instead I grab the glass cup on my desk and smash it on the floor.
"Stop asking foolish questions Logan, I told you, I don't....." I pause when I remember the little fight we had when leaving my office.
She seemed pretty jealous to me, but that's not an excuse she would use to run away. Not to forget she was also scared.
I exhale hard and rack my brain for something.
She must have had another nightmare. That's the only reasonable explanation because whenever she has one she wants to get far away from me as possible.
I think it's her fear of hurting me. That's what made me suspect the darkness is tormenting her in her dreams but she still hasn't told me anything.
I lean forward onto my desk with both hands supporting me.
"Everyone in the pack is on the look out for her. We'll find her." Logan assures me again but I just walk out of the office and head to my room, our room.
I head straight to the bathroom and gaze at the shattered pieces of mirror.
I mind link the head maid to get the broken pieces swept away and a new mirror restored.
But if that bracelet is on her then it prevents her from using her witch powers.
But a mirror shattered to pieces, cuts that healed quickly and completely.
What are you hiding Claire?
"Ethan, I mean Alpha."
Lydia speaks through a mind link and my wolf growls annoyed at me.
"Lydia unless it news about my mate I don't want to hear..."
"It is about her." She interrupts and I readily listen.
"She's okay, she's safe and here with me."
"Where are you?" At that I start heading for the door but I sense the hesitation coming from her.
"Lydia where are you?" I repeat my myself this time making it clear that she doesn't have any choice but to tell me.
"She doesn't want me to tell you, but we are heading to the training room." I crease my forehead at her response but I make my way to the training room either way.
"Where are you off to?" I meet Logan on my way out.
Call off the search, I've found her." I say over my shoulder making it clear that I have no time for explanation.
I quickly rush to the training room and the moment I open the door I smell roses and daisies with a hint of forest scent.
I spot my mate in her workout clothes but this time she has the jacket tied around her waist exposing her tank top.
Claire looks over at Lydia disappointed. Lydia smiles apologizing to her before heading towards me.
I nod a thanks and she nods back.
Claire looks away from me the moment we are alone and I begin to suspect my hypothesis is true.
I walk much closer to her and I get more of the woods scent on her.
"Please tell me you didn't go into the woods?" I ask concerned and she turns to look at me.
"I didn't know it was off limits." She says genuinely and I exhale relieved that she's at least okay.
I open my mouth to speak but I hear the sound of footsteps.
"Let's talk inside." She nods at me and walks to the exit but I pull her back by the waist and take off her jacket to cover her upper body.
She looks at me confused.
"I don't want people staring at what's mine." I whisper and she puts on the jacket properly before walking out.
I follow out behind her and we head back to the castle.
We meet the guys at the entrance and they look at her surprised. She gives them a smile and walks pass them.
I get to them and I see the curiosity on their faces but now is not the time to answer their questions.
We arrive in the room and she walks over to the far end taking off her jacket.
I open my mouth to speak again and she interrupts.
"I'm sorry I had you worried." She says and we make eye contact.
"What happened? Why did you storm out of the room?" I move closer to her.
"I needed fresh air." She lies looking down and I see right through it.
"What did you dream about?" I get more closer to her and she also backs up against the wall.
"It was just a dream." She whispers as I cage her against the wall with both hands to her sides.
I stare into those beautiful brown eyes and I see nervousness. She pushes herself against the wall and escapes my gaze by passing under my other arm.
"It's nothing important, it was just a bad dream as always." She walks away from me.
I close my eyes and exhale hard with my back now against the wall.
"Bad dream like always?" I question but she doesn't turn to face me.
"I found you in the washroom scared to hell and you want me to believe it's a bad dream?" I lean off the wall and walk towards her.
"Bad dreams don't have you shattering mirrors." I add just when I'm inches behind her.
"You told me to trust you, and I do, hundred percent. But I'm gonna need you to actually trust me for once." I can sense she's contemplating on something.
"Now please look me in the eyes and tell me what actually happened.“
