Ethan's POV
Whilst talking with Claire I get a phone call and I realize I have to go back and resolve everything I put on hold yesterday.
It really sucks, but I have to carry out my responsibilities.
I place a quick kiss on her lips and walk away whilst I talk to my private secretary who is in charge of updating me on my daily schedules.
According to her my day is mainly going to be spent in a parliament session before it ends after a meeting at a hotel with a very close client of mine.
Honestly I don't think I'll make it for lunch like I promised but let's see if I'll make it before dinner.
I arrive at the castle followed by my official guards and posses into the room the session is being held in.
Since I'm always the last to arrive everyone takes their seats and the representative I appointed stands before the gathering to deliver the speech from the throne.
The speech basically entails the government's agenda and priorities for the upcoming legislative session.
It typically highlights key policy objectives, legislative proposals, and sometimes reflects on the state of the nation.
After that is out of the way the rest of the process follows through and soon there's more speeches and statements.
This is followed by debates and legislation, committee meetings, question time and my favorite part, vote and decision making, because that means the session is almost about to end for the day.
We all conclude on a final decision accepted by majority before the closing of the session begins.
I'm the first to leave the place when it ends and I sigh relief when I'm in the car.
Parliament sessions can really be a headache sometimes and can also last for weeks getting to months and even years.
This particular session has been going on for months and I pray it ends within the next five or six months.
I check the time and I find it's already pass lunch time leaving two hours before dinner begins.
"We're heading to the hotel for the business meeting." I nod at my private secretary who turns her attention back to her phone tablet.
It's not really a business meeting but more like a pack meeting.
I like to separate it from the administration of the country so things don't get mixed up.
Besides the fact that it's mostly Logan who handles these kind of issues I only step in when it concerns major ones like the curse wearing away or the general well being of the pack.
Suddenly my mind goes back to Claire and I wonder if she has met Arthur yet.
Thinking about this makes me feel uneasy because I don't want Arthur around her probing her with questions.
I changed out of the ceremonial wear after the session in one of my offices and now I'm going to meet a strong alpha of a very close and strong neighboring pack.
*
Dinner started 15 mins ago but hopefully I'll make it on time.
I hurry to the room when I arrive to change before heading to the garden.
"The country is fine Arthur, it's in safe hands so you can rest assured."
"Good evening." I walk over to my mother and place a kiss on her cheek before turning my attention to Arthur.
He looks at me with his usual facial expression which shows how hostile and arrogant he is.
"Welcome back, cousin." He says and I feel like punching him in the face.
But I won't give him that satisfaction of knowing he gets to me.
I just roll my eyes and take my seat.
With him here I just want this dinner to end quick.
"Where's Claire?" I ask my mother after realizing the seat beside me is empty.
"I was hoping you'd meet her on the way." Maa says and I shake my head.
"Immediately she arrived a maid accidentally spilled something on her so she went to the washroom to fix her dress." I nod at my mother's response seeing that they have also not starting eating.
"Sorry I'm late. I had to change my outfit." The sweet voice of my mate comes from behind and I turn to see her in a beautiful dress with her beautiful smile on her face.
I find Arthur staring at her too with a hint of admiration which makes Jason want to bite his head off.
I stand to kiss Claire on the cheek and she continues to smile at me.
"You didn't show up for lunch." She whispers in my ear and I almost chuckle.
"Sorry little wolf, I'll make it up to you." She smiles again and I feel my heart already melting.
Maa stands and moves over to us.
"Arthur, I'm sure you haven't met....." Maa starts as Arthur also stands.
"Actually aunt, we've already met." Arthur cuts in with that playful grin on his lips.
I turn to my mate who seems to be hiding something behind her smile which doesn't reach her eyes.
"Oh, okay. Then I guess there's no need for any introductions then." Maa smiles partly before resuming her seat and we follow after I help my mate sit.
"Well aunt, I'm afraid the future queen here failed to share any information about herself to me."
I angrily growl at Arthur surprising everyone.
"She doesn't have to explain herself to you." Arthur looks at me not at all surprised by my words.
"She's Claire Andrews from Red Moon pack located in a small town called Blueville." Maa says and Arthur nods slightly disappointed.
"She's also your cousin's mate and the future queen. That's all there is to know." Maa adds and I nod grateful to her.
"Not quite aunty." He smiles to himself before turning to my mate.
"But I guess I'll get to know more by the end of my stay here." He smiles at her and I growl lowly causing him to chuckle to himself.
Now he has found a new way to get to me and I know he won't rest until he has me raging with anger.
And there's no way I'm letting him question Claire in my presence. Whatever he is hoping to acquire from her won't be achieved that easily.
